1 star -- Bait-and-switch pricing, terrible service, and I lost my unit over their own billing error. I signed up online for their "2 months half off" promo, on the 31st of the month. I had to go into the office to finalize the move-in, and that's when I found out their truck -- the reason I picked them over another storage place -- was out of order. My first charge, for the upcoming month, came out at half price as promised. I assumed the second month would also be half off, per their advertised "2 months half off" deal. Instead they pulled the full $511 out of my account, throwing off my budget for other things that month. When I went in to ask about it, they told me that because I'd signed up on the 31st, the half-off I already received only covered one single day -- and that counted as my "one month" of the discount. That is not what "2 months half off" advertises or implies. When I pushed back, the staff member was rude about my concern and said there was nothing they could do, they don't refund payments, and the only fix would be applying the discount to the following month instead. When I asked to speak to someone above her, she said she was it, and that the owner was "indisposed" and wouldn't talk to me anyway. I left that conversation feeling trapped -- like I had to stay another month just to get the discount I was owed instead of walking away. So I stayed. And sure enough, they did it to me again. The next month, I was owed that $256 discount, but they tried to charge $511 again -- which didn't go through since I'd only authorized $256. I was dealing with a personal emergency and without a phone for 2 months, so I didn't find out until I owed $511 plus late fees plus lien fees, all stemming from their original mistake. Last week they auctioned my unit. They offered to sell it back to me for the full inflated balance, which I couldn't afford -- so I bid on my own unit at auction and won. I paid what I owed, but before I could retrieve my things, they called to say they'd refund me and give the unit to another bidder instead. I lost everything in that unit, including my service dog's vest, over a billing error that was never mine to begin with. read more

Butterfield Self Storage is a great facility. We chose them after considering a few others. They are in a good location that's easy to drive to, compared to other places we saw that were in heavy traffic town areas which did not appeal to us. They have very convenient drive-up units. The storage units themselves are sturdily constructed with metal and are very clean, compared to other facilities we've seen that had wood interior partitions which did not appeal to us. The facility is truly the cleanest I've seen. Very well maintained, secure, clean and bright with a wide roadway to navigate within the facility to get to your storage unit. I have several units there. If it wasn't for convenience to the location I would have left. I rented a new unit in January and received an 18% increase in rent notice just 8 months later. In January I updated my new credit card information when I rented the new unit and they have been charging my rent to an expired credit card, then adding late and collection fees while I was out of the country. Upon my return I had to proof they were at fault and although they refunded part of the fees I didn't get everything back nor did I get an apology. They never even acknowledged they made a mistake. read more

I would 1000% recommend Butterfield self storage!!!! From day one there has been nothing but excellence from the Butterfield self storage facility and managers. I have had interactions with most all employees but non more Megan the facility Manager, she always has the answers for my questions right away and is super nice the rest of the staff are also courteous and helpful right away. I have been storing my belongings here for more than a year now and every time i am in unit and the facility is super clean, never any trash in my unit hallway. During these Covid-19 times Megan went out of he way to help my family insure we didn't loose our life long possessions or the storage unit. We called in and she informed us of the companies policy at the moment and thus waiving my late fees. I cannot say enough how Awesome this lady is and these units. The front desk is quick and efficient. I got my storage in under 10 minutes. They're also friendly. Th whole place is clean and new.

I've had an amazing experience with Megan the front desk lady. Everytime I call she's so full of life and takes care of any questions I may have. She's very pleasant to talk to and makes sure I'm happy before hanging up the phone. Her customer service skills are impeccable. She's so kind and happy to help me. I have been using Butterfield Storage now for about a month and a half. Megan and Dallas have been nothing but amazing. I originally rented a 10x10 and when my needs changed to utilize a larger unit, they were able to quickly and efficiently get my transfer in place. I came in on their Customer Appreciation Day for the transfer of units and they had music playing and a Taco Stand for all their customers. I am nothing but happy with their customer service. I visited this facility a few days ago inquiring about renting a unit. They were completely out but the two young lady's took my name and # and said they would call me if things should change. Today the manager called me and got me the unit I wanted. What was most impressive is how kind both her and her assistant were. Very engaging and thoughtful. I was praying for a new storage facility within the price range I can afford; as the storage place I was at got too expensive. Then I called Butterfield and Megan quoted me an amazing price, on top of their free truck service to move me in. I must say thank goodness for John and his fellow helper that moved my heavy items into the storage; cause I wouldn't been able to do this on my own. I have been a resident of Morgan Hill for 16 years. Over the years I have surrendered my garage to the storage of my personal belongs so I could no longer get my cars in my garage so we decided to rent a self-storage unit. I looked at all of the self-storage units in Morgan Hill. Most of them are older not in the best locations unprofessionally managed and not very clean. I found Butterfield Self-Storage not only was it "Spotless" it has very wide drive isles and well lighted and in a very safe neighborhood. The staff was professionally dressed and very knowledgeable and friendly. To put the icing on the cake they offered a free move-in service of which none of the other self-storage facilities offered which is a Free Moving Truck with a professional driver that came to my home and helped load my personal belongings and then drove the truck back to Butterfield Self-Storage and helped me unload and helped me organize and store my belongings. Butterfield Self Storage is a Real Gem!! I have never experienced service like this at a storage facility and I have used several in Morgan Hill. These folks are simply the best!!! read more

The entry gate is a lawsuit waiting to happen. The key pad to enter your code when entering and when exiting the facility force you to crisscross the flow of traffic. The keypad is placed on the left side of the driveway. This is great since it is easy for the driver to reach out the window. But it will soon enough cause an accident because now you are directly facing on-coming traffic. Recently, the property manager Megan nearly caused an accident when she passed me on the right as I was pulling away from the key pad. The she follows me around the facility to harp about driving only 5-10 miles per hour when I was driving 10 miles per hour. First which is the limit 5 or 10? Second, any speed seems fast you are blocking the drive way. Like others here, if not for the location I would not be here. I am actually looking for a new facility regardless of location. Anything is better than the reckless endangerment posed at this facility. read more
