    Butts To Go in Texaco
    Rhett B.

I have always been leary of food from gas stations. Just in my mind, I just always had the sense it was either 2nd rate, or the thought of cooking and eating food in a gas station was not very sanitary. After seeing all the 5 star Yelp reviews, I had to give Butts To Go a try. My experience did not start off well. I came to the counter to order and the lady behind it seemed either in a hurry at best or just annoyed at worst. I'm thinking she just assumed I knew what to do. On the counter to the side, was a warmer that contained already made up ribs and BBQ sandwiches. There was no sign or anything like that to communicate to me that if you wanted a sandwich or ribs, just grab it out of the warmer. The other staff was more helpful and friendly. I chose the 2 rib plate plus I grabbed a pork sandwich. The rib plate came with 2 sides and was $6.99 and the sandwich was $3.49. With a 20 oz drink, I paid $11 something. What a great deal and value! I might have only had 2 ribs but they were a good size. The ribs were good - good rub, fresh, and mostly tender. However, they were over done at the ends. The pork was better than the ribs - very tender, fresh, and mixed well with the sauce. When I eat here again, I'm going to get the pork plate. There were 2 sauces - Cattlemen's and Hog Heaven. Cattlemen's is a brand, kethcup-based, and had a very smooth and mild, smoky flavor. I liked the Hog Heaven better. It was sweeter than the Cattlemen's but also more spicy, but there isn't much heat to it at all. During parts of the year, they have Archibald's and Rob's sauce. My 2 sides today were potato salad and baked beans. The potato salad was the baked potato type with sour cream and chives. I always enjoy that type. The beans were pretty good. They definitely were homemade and not like Bush's from a can. I added some Hog Heaven and chopped onions to it and it made them better. My first BBQ in a gas station, overall, was a very good experience. The food was really good and very reasonable. Personally, I like Fat Man's the best in Pell City still and Good Ole Boys. But Butts To Go is worth stopping in and trying, especially for the price.

We ate here on a Saturday for lunch. The 'restaurant' is in a gas station. There are 3 tables for you to dine if you'd like, we did dine in. You order from the small 'bar' and grab your premade sides from a warmer. Though the worker was very nice there was just no personality or suggestions of the menu or any interaction for that matter. I ordered the pulled pork with 2 sides. It came with Pulled Pork(a large portion), hamburger bun, sides I chose: coleslaw and potato wedges. They have a bbq sauce bar & pickles, sauerkraut, and onions if you want. The pulled pork was smoked nicely, but there was no hint of salt or any seasonings. Maybe that is their style, but not mine. The coleslaw was creamy like I like, but there was no flavor. The potato wedges were precooked sitting in the warmer. They were very soggy & semi cold. The one thing I did like was their BBQ sauces. They have 4 kinds from sweet, vinegar, etc. The price was also good and very big portions. I will not be returning.

Pulled pork plate with baked beans, white bread and Potato Salad! Sooo good :)

Inside of a Texaco so you may be a little confused at first, but its not hard to find. Great staff, and great food. Really quick service, so if your passing by don't not stop here! It's only 1.2 miles off the exit and a straight path, very easy to get to. The food has a great but subtle smoky flavor and there's a little place inside if you want to stay in eat! Oh and you can't beat the prices!

The BBQ is delicious. A little concerning due to location but don't worry. It's great!

Butt and ribs are good. A bit too pricey for my taste. If you don't mind shelling out the $$$ this place is your place.

Lucy loves this place. Do they have a children's menu?

There is a photo of their menu on their page. They do have a hamburger, hot dog, and nachos on the menu. This is a gas station with a place to grab BBQ and lunch specials. There are tables to sit inside.

Never eaten here even though local, but remember seeing a lot of videos on local Facebook pages, no…read moresign to seat self that I seen but I did notice others didn't know has well . they have a daily menu - which i understand but kinda not happy about it, reminds me of when I on the road and eat at gas station restaurants just a daily meet and 2 . Without drink or taxes 10.99. Inside remind me of an old waffle king . I got hamburger steak , brown gravy with onions , fried okra and green tomatoes. With roll. Meal was quick to come out. They tasted like sweet onions, brown gravy was okay didn't stand out thinking with a pre made (or mix) has well has the okra since they was a lot of stem ends in my serving. Green Tomatoes are fried with cornmeal - waitress said they are made fresh to order. They was good, but with every else make wonder. Has I look around seen one customer eating what looks to be a burger with crinkle fries, which was not on my menu nor that I could see, outside has BBQ sandwich chips and tea $8.99. I also didn't see a kid menu. Also a customer asked for soup of the day it was vegetable or chili I did not see that either. Thinking they are an unknown items unless you a regular you don't know. Finish my meal put plate to side of table and keep folks because menu said Friday is blackberry cobbler - so figured staff bring it- since it has a space between it and the sides I figured it was included. When asked at checkout the cashier said it confusing with the spaces but it not included. Over all it a very confusing place for new customers with okay food (aleast what I had) i believe it a regular locals place to eat - if they know you on first name kind deal it probably better but I don't think I return.

This is something I'm familiar with since this is my hometown. The place was lively and I'm not sure if that was the normal pace of the service but I wish it had been a bit faster The sweet tea wa SWEET tea! I let some of my ice melt and ot was fine. The catfish was hot and seasoned just right. For the sides I had fried green tomatoes and potato salad. Neither was the best that I ever had but it wasn't bad at all. I'll support this spot again the next time I'm home. It seems to be thriving in a town with slowly dying small businesses. Hopefully it's still around.
