This is our favorite Bbq in the area. They are a small shop at the corner of Odenville but do a great job on Good Food!

Good barbecue and decent sides. I would prefer if they had more vegetable sides that are not fried as options.

Great food, this is the go to BBQ place! It is a little bit of a drive for me, but it is well worth it.

Normally their loaded baked potatoes are full of meat and much larger. This one had only two bites of meat on the potato. Today I ordered two loaded baked potatoes and two medium bruinswick stews, paid over 32 dollars. The food was good, just the portion was heavily cut back giving you a third but charging you the same price. The stew is mostly liquid. I always looked forward to going here when I visited family. I doubt I will be back anytime soon. read more

Mom & Pop restaurant as nothing fancy, appears they are efficient from placing order to them delivering your food. We ordered 3 piece meat dinner, shared in restaurant and ordered our adult kids ribs, wings & chicken tenders to go with corn nuggets & fries. Ribs, pulled pork & chicken All delicious! Voted Best Dive Barbecue in Alabama. Their ribs and pulled pork are delicious, as are their sides, but the brisket (only available on Wednesday and Saturday) is to die for. Tender and juicy, and their selection of sauces are homemade and perfectly spiced. There is an excellent banana pudding (monkey in a cup) and a daily cobbler, with or without ice cream. Charlie's BBQ has become one of my favorite BBQ places that is within 20 miles of my house. But today, I went with the Southwestern Saints burger, which they only serve on Thursdays. The burger is a 9oz. fresh made patty that is cooked well-done and marinated. It comes on a kaiser roll with cheese, grilled onions, peppers, bacon, and Cujo Hot BBQ sauce. I've never had a burger like it. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it came well-done. I like my burgers medium and medium-well. It wasn't burnt by any stretch. I asked the cashier if it came only well-done and she said that they were already prepared to help them get food out faster. You can get the burger as a combo with a side and drink and it was a total of $10.79 with tax included. It's highway robbery with how good this burger is. read more

I've eaten here many times, sometimes the food was not as good as others, but I'm all about knowing things are not always perfect every time. so I always give them another try. , but if you do have a problem they will not fix the problem. very rude! I don't recommend the burgers they look like a burnt sausage biscuit! The meat is over cooked and looks like they are pre-made burgers you buy frozen in a bag. I've never seen such a small burger and over cooked one . if you want real BBQ and the best burgers, I would recommend going down the road just about 5 miles and get Bowling's BBQ, they have the best burgers and Bbq you will ever put in your mouth. perfect service and always so friendly. Drove 60 miles round trip to try this place out. Heard it was the best brisket this side of Texas. Got the brisket plate. With 6 onions rings and 6 corn fritters. The brisket slice was about 4 inches in length and maybe a quarter inch thick. I had high expectations going into this place and was disappointed in the portions for the cost. I won't go back. Ate here today for the first time. I ordered the BBQ pork sandwich and onion rings. The food was delicious. I gave it four stars because they wrapped my sandwich for a dine in order and it fell apart because the bun got soggy and because they have off-brand ketchup. I am not a fan of anything but Heinz. Odenville is a very small town. However there are a number of restaurants in the area. This one was very clean and the service staff was friendly. I had the two meat combo with a side salad and macaroni and cheese. The meant and salad were good. The macaroni was less than average. We had the ribs, chicken, pork and wings. The chicken and pork were pulled off the bone and cut up. The only complaint I had was that the chicken was a little dry. Everything else was excellent. After being told Charlie's was average, I didn't expect much from this one either, but I was impressed. The Memphis Special was yummy, moist and full of flavor, the smoked chicken had a good smoke without being overly smokey, and the sauces had good flavor. I give this place 5 stars on their BBQ ribs. I have eaten there 3 times, ordered ribs every time. The ribs are consistently very good. That means a lot coming from a KCBS BBQ judge. These ribs are competition quality. I judge ribs a lot worse than these. The salads are great, large portion. I am giving Charlie's five stars on the ribs, however the sides they offer, do have room for improvement. Have not found any sides I like as much as the ribs. Will let you know if I do. Ate at Charlie's tonight......not sure what the problem was, but the ribs were tough, small and not cut properly. The creamed potatoes were like leftover baked potatoes that have been creamed. The onion rings were greasy. Hope it is better next time. Either they rushed the ribs and did not cook them long enough, or they have a new cook.
