They have helped, informed and brought insight to its readers. They also have helped local charities like Waterfront Education, local schools and fundraisers so rather than trying to hurt the company, their families, its employees (and the hard work they do behind the scenes), why not provide suggestions about how to improve the paper - after all they're really an extension of us are they not? That said, lets all solve the crumpled paper delivery issues and we all will be better off! ;-)

I did contact these yelpers to see what their issue was and after hearing their side understand their frustrations, but don't think it's right that they dole out one star reviews when even with their own admission they've only ever picked up the one issue that included the review of the band they like and considering none of them live anywhere near the community this publication serves. Bearing in mind that this is a local weekly paper I think they do a great job at keeping the community posted on things happening in and around the beach cities. I can always rely on the Easy Reader to let me know what events are coming up, what the hot issues are on each City Council's agenda, whose running for office, what new businesses have come into town and what bands are performing in my area. (Even the ones with irrational hot headed fans) The Easy Reader offices have also served as my polling place : )

This monthly magazine with the shiny sheet paper cover lands on our sidewalks and presents a real…read moretrip and fall hazard. We notice that for a while one side of the street gets it, then another. The point being that especially in its plastic cover, it's a hazard and we really wish the delivery people could aim to actually get it into the bushes if not the yards. We go around picking it up here, there, and everywhere, because other people have not, while we walk the dogs. The writing of articles in overall uneven and goes from tremendously professional to awfully sad. But maybe Lolly and me feel mostly that it's called San Pedro TODAY but there is a lot about YESTERDAY, a sentimentality we do not feel for the location as new people in town. Really, you could spend three or four days here and see and do almost everything. The article about Charles Bukowski's time in this port city was interesting, but maybe there just isn't all that much about TODAY or TOMORROW in Pedro to write about. Frankly, we have tried so to make friends and be part of this community but we aren't Italian or Croatian and we feel there's a resistance to accepting in new people overall. Maybe this magazine should get a little less advertising friendly and a little more issues oriented.

And for me personally, I stop in here probably half the time I go to the Grove or Farmers Market. They don't know it, but I'm a regular. Usually, I just buy scratchie lottos from the machine...a simple joy in my life lol But I sometimes cash those same scratchie lottos at the cashier, and they are always nice. I've also bought a random drink or needed random item while here. This Sheltam Books is like an old school newsstand mixed with a convenience store mixed with a USPS Post Office. Yep, they have an official little outpost for buying stamps and mailing packages via regular mail. And they have tons of fun magazines on the shelves, tons of celebrity pop culture things that I didn't even now existed. One of my boyfriends Seth Rogen was on the cover of one! I actually read because of the owner's special connections, they get some unique & hard to find publications here. I've been here a bunch and had no issues, it's always met all of my needs with a smile. I'm so thankful to have a shop like this at the Farmers Market! Also there was a woman who appeared to be of Persian origin. Today, I was told that she was the owner possibly Farah. She was on the phone which appeared to be a personal call. I stood there for five minutes looking at her so she went to the window display section on the opposite side of the counter. After awhile, I went into the door way watching her, Then she came back in to the store behind the counter where she continued her personal call. I stood there for another five minutes saying "Are you going to wait on me". She glared at me but did not respond all while on the phone. at this point I realized that she had no intentions on serving me, I left the store. I called four times today requesting to speak with the owner or manager. I was told that this just how they are and that they only made a hundred dollars on Sunday. I responded that I was prepared to spend at least that much. I know that she refused service discriminating against me due to me being African American. I was patient and respectful contrary to her racist and most unprofessional bias and prejudice behavior. Later I passed by and saw her waiting on a Hispanic woman while the other worker was standing in front of the store. With her actions and attitude, it is not surprising that business is poor.
