I absolutely love shopping here! Their coffee table books are beautiful for decorating as well as gifts. If you shop their sales, you can get really great deals here. They also validate parking while you are shopping at the Grove and farmers market. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Tell you about Taschen? This quaint clock tower on top bookshop is filled with lavish picture books, catalogs, novels, slices of history, cinema, comics... You name it! And all at reasonable prices considering how massive some of the books are in stock and on display. The store itself is pretty small in size making walking the room in a circle your best way to navigate though depending on the time of day you might encounter less foot traffic... Either way just soak it up, enjoy the rotating collection as well as the sensational service you'll experience every time! I didn't plan for so many wonderful books I'd want to purchase this time, but will be doubling back for their current sale soon. Some great film books this filmmaker would appreciate as well as some incredible comic-book/graphic novels and how-to reading material. You can enter through either door but the east-facing side (also The Grove facing) are the doors that are usually propped open. Easy parking next to or near the Original Farmer's Market, The Grove as well as some limited street parking throughout. Q Tip: One cool thing about Taschen is they will hold your purchases for you until you return.

Today I want to shine a little spotlight on a place that feels like a sanctuary for anyone who adores art, beauty, and culture: the TASCHEN store at The Grove. Founded in 1980 by the visionary Benedikt Taschen, this legendary publishing house has become the global gold standard for art books, bold, glamorous, intellectual, and timeless. Today, under the leadership of Benedikt and his family, TASCHEN continues to publish some of the most iconic, collectible volumes in the world: from Helmut Newton to Basquiat, from architecture and fashion to cinema and photography. True cultural treasures. As a passionate book collector, entering the TASCHEN boutique at The Grove feels like slipping into a private gallery. Each title is a piece of art ... from its luxurious paper and meticulous craftsmanship to the stories that live between the pages. And today, I'm truly thrilled and grateful to have received the magnificent "HOLLYWOOD" book. Thank you to the TASCHEN team for such a thoughtful gesture it's a masterpiece and already one of the crown jewels of my collection. For anyone searching for the perfect holiday gift, let me say this as an art lover: there is nothing more meaningful than the gift of a book. It's beauty you can hold, revisit, and live with forever. Here's to TASCHEN for making the world more inspiring, one page and book at a time.

I always feel an appreciative warmth when I walk into this place. The staff seem to have a broad and great appreciation for art, history, ambience, and cultures. I just learned about their annual book sale and completely lost mind mind...and my budget!!! The books in this sale were 50-70% off!! I also love the Beverly Hills location because it's dark inside and mysterious!

An example of the great books here!

This compact bookstore has a very nice selection of Taschen's high quality books with great photography and high production values. It's a pleasant place to spend a few moments checking out a book on a place, person of subject you like or maybe someone or something you're not too familiar with. The employees are friendly and helpful!

This place is cool. My friend Mike works here. He's cute...and single. Ask him out! Oh yea and the books are cool too. I'm saving up for the photography book thats over a grand. Okay not so much saving up as...ah well spending the money on cheaper books. UPDATE (12/11/07): My friend Mike no longer works here. Their books are still really cool and expensive.

    Look up!

It's also a perfect spot for anyone creating content for a social media travel page. Upstairs you'll find an art gallery and several other shops, while downstairs has old vinyl records and CDs. If you love that classic old bookstore smell, this place has it in full. Personally it's not my favorite, but definitely worth noting for those who do. The main downsides are parking and crowds. Finding a spot by car can be a challenge, and the store draws a good number of tourists so it can get pretty packed. If you're not a fan of crowds, just keep that in mind before you go.

Some of the isles can feel a little congested when there's an influx of foot traffic, put are still easy to navigate through as well as around. While in Korea, I didn't know that Incheon Airport would have shipping boxes for excess luggage, so when I thought I would be limited by just the space I left for souvenirs and other gifts in my bags, I could've bought all seven Harry Potter books. As you can tell by the town I'm in, I'm in the Bay Area. Here in the Bay, we don't have a lot of Korean bookstores, and the one I could find here didn't really focus on fiction/fantasy books. I found this place after searching the internet for "Korean bookstores in LA/SoCal." I called and asked the staff if they had Harry Potter. They said they didn't, but they told me that if I found some store back in Korea that had what I was looking for, they told me to email them the link or something and then they would order the books for me. When I pointed out that by that logic, if I could find a book by myself and then pay for the store to mail the books directly to me, customs and all, then I'd just be doing their job. The employee told me to "take it or leave it," and they acted completely shocked that I did leave.
