My favorite airport to fly out of and you know if you live in the DMV we have plenty of choices. The drop off is super easy as every airline is along the same corridor. Keep in mind, if you have an early flight that the luggage drop off counter usually doesn't open until 2 hours before your flight. We've had 6am flights where we had to wait for the counter to open before proceeding to security. TSA is pretty efficient here and we've always used TSA Precheck to breeze through. On the other side of security there's a nice BWI lounge that serves a handful of food. If you're there for breakfast make sure to try the Old Baby cream cheese. On return, baggage claim is simple but there is a separate section for oversized luggage. Don't be like me and wait for your car seat at the regular belt. If you're calling an Uber to get back home the app will tell you which door to stand outside of. Once you're at that door make sure you're on the curb furthest away from the airport. The first row of lanes is dedicated for shuttles and buses and Uber drivers cannot access it. read more

Yelp Review 2026 #190: I had a layover at BWI airport. I landed at gate E and had to catch my next flight at gate B. I have Global Entry and TSA Precheck so the process was much easier and faster. However, there was no signage where to exit. I found somebody to ask and directed me to the right direction. Then, I encountered 2 separate lines: connecting flights on the left and exit on the right and I was told to go to the right which didn't make sense since I need to catch my connecting flight but CBP agent told me I need to exit and go through security again and get to terminal B. So, why the signage? It's either no signage or if they do have signage, it's wrong. I made it to security before heading to the domestic terminals. The touchless TSA Precheck was closed off so I went to regular Precheck. I told the TSA agent I had touchless Precheck and he told me "next time go to touchless Precheck!" I asked him if he has seen anybody in line for touchless Precheck, no, because it's roped off meaning it's closed! He then drops my passport and boarding pass. There are moving walkways to expedite hopping from terminal E to B. However, people were blocking the walkway and not moving! If you're standing, stay on the right and let people that are walking pass on the left! It just seemed like everyone's first day on earth. The restrooms aren't the best nor the cleanest. They don't have good options for lounges so I skipped that and went to eat at two airport restaurants. They do have a nice selection of restaurants. read more

I have been to BWI airport twice once for a layover and the second time to eat in the city of Baltimore and fly out to my next destination. The airport itself is very nice and plenty of dining, souvenir shoppes etc. I was really surprise to see a Rita's Italian ice and I had to get one since we have no more in Sacramento. The concourse's are super easy to get through. The airport itself is a pretty good size yet not to the point you feel overwhelmed or will get lost. So, far when I fly I'd prefer BWI to be my layover flying as it is very organized and efficient. read more

This was my first stop in Vegas during my birthday trip and it did not disappoint . I ordered the bulgogi bowl which was good, it had a sushi type flavor to me, maybe they use rice vinegar or something that's used in sushi rice. The customer service was amazing, I was greeted and handed a menu upon walking in, which made me feel really good. Everyone had a great attitude as well as customer service and we know that's hard to come by nowadays. The food was prepared quickly and I really wanted to make it back before the end of my trip so that I could try one of their breakfast sandwiches but unfortunately I didn't, but I will during my next visit. They only serve canned sodas and I believe apple juice and orange--no fountain drinks. But the menu is huge and it has something for everyone. read more

Seeing all the wonderful renovations have been amazing!!! It still has the wonderful food court after you go through TSA but now has so many beautiful wings with lots of restaurants and shopping!!! Not too loud and not too big, I like that the airport is clean, the bathroom has the green/red lights at the booths. I like that the staff here is very polite and friendly. They smile at you even you just walk by. Bathrooms are clean. There is Dunkin, Cinnabon, Subway, and a few other eateries/store fronts near Gates 1-8. Also connecting flights do not seem too tight on time. Definitely walkable within gates if your first flight is delayed. Will transfer here again. Nice and not too big. read more

Normally only pass through for connecting flights. Its always busy, pretty huge hub. You might land in terminal B and have to make your way to terminal A for your next flight. We flew into BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport while in route to Boston, MA last week. It was our first time here and it was brief. I think our layover was about 1.5 hours. We grabbed coffee at Dunkin Donuts and waited out the time until we boarded our connection flight. We didn't explore much, but I do remember the bathrooms being really nice - like all of their money went into the bathrooms. They had some nice shops from what I could see, but overall, it was a good experience. Since it was a layover, we didn't have to deal with baggage claim or TSA so that could have been a different story. It seemed to be a pretty big airport and the interactions with any staff members were pleasant! read more

Most convenient airport in Maryland. They have tons of parking options with reasonable prices, the shuttles run often and regularly. Check in hasn't been too bad, sign are clear and it's easy to navigate inside. For what it's worth the TSA here has been good, not much on delays and the lines move well. They are updating terminals and bathrooms which is nice, the construction sucks but the finished parts are very nice. read more

I flew out of BWI on a 6 AM flight to Las Vegas, and honestly, the whole process was surprisingly smooth for such an early departure. The baggage check was a breeze, staff were fast, efficient, and kept the line moving with zero confusion. TSA was also shockingly quick. There was only one ID checkpoint open and one line for bag screening, but even with that, the line moved fast. A handful of people ahead of us, and we were through in minutes. We flew out of Concourse A, Gate 11, and that area is definitely limited on food options at that hour. Mostly Auntie Anne's, Cinnabon, and a couple small convenience-style stores, so plan ahead if you want something more substantial. There's a lot of construction happening in Terminal A, which explains some of the reduced options. That said, everything was clean, organized, and easy to navigate. The gate agents were friendly, helpful, and on top of things, which made the whole boarding process smooth. Overall: Fast check-in Quick TSA Clean terminal Great staff Limited food choices near Gate 11 Construction in the area Still, for a 6 AM flight, I'll take "efficient and painless" every time. Would happily fly out of BWI again. Long term parking is $11 a day here. read more

I have flown out of BWI many times and I have never had an issue. The airport terminals are clean and spacious. The food options are pretty good. I have always parked in the long term parking lots at a cheaper rate however, it recently went up after years of staying at the same price of $8. The staff has been pleasant throughout the airport. I had 2 layovers here at Baltimore airport within about 6 months of each other - once on a solo trip and another with my spouse. In both cases I arrived here, had to change terminals to board my next flight and had a few hours to kill in between. There were plenty of food and beverage options, including a few I'd not seen in other airports, and those kinds of unique/expanded dining options are always welcome. The complimentary WiFi was plenty fast and signage was clear and helpful. They only had I think 1 table with 3 stools at each gate for business travelers especially to plug into power outlets and get work done - they could use more of them IMO. Otherwise, for just a layover airport, BWI was solid. read more

Just checking in and leaving a review on March 20, 2026, to let you all know that we made it through security in Concourse D at around 8:30 this morning in less than five minutes. Now, actually dropping the bag off with the airline took about 25 to 40 minutes (Frontier), but even that wasn't as bad as what I've experienced before. Honestly, BWI is always pretty easy. Well, I do think they could improve/increase some of the shops and food offerings, for the most part, I will pick this airport over some of the crazier local ones any day. read more

Smaller but actually the travel time to and from home with less congestion and traffic make that more enticing! Baltimore Washington International airport is ranked one of the United States top 10 airports in the US and I was there for it. We flew in direct from California and I was surprised at how large this airport is. I was impressed with all the food options on site from fast food, restaurants and bars. They also had vending machines available that took Apple Pay or card. Ride share pickup from the airport was easy as well. read more

BWI is my second home. While it is not the biggest airport, that's a good thing. It's easy to get around and find your way. It's also easy to walk between gates a, b, and c. Some of my favorite food places: Harbor Grille in the C wing. Ms. Shirley's in the A wing or potbelly to go. And, you can never go wrong with Chick Fil A or Nalley Fresh before heading to wing B where you can also pick up a coffee at Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. All the wings have great options for grabbing a pre-flight drink or you can head to the little bar before the A wing. Southwest is a staple here. It's convenient, easy, and you can barely ever expect to wait to check a bag or go through security. I highly recommend getting Clear or TSA when traveling. It's such a seamless process and worth every penny. read more

Just grabbed my bag and walked over to where the hotel shuttle was picking me up. The airport seemed fine. The usual coffee / breakfast spots open. On the way back, we went to The Club BWI lounge using my priority pass. The walk thru the airport was okay. This terminal seems kinda dated and old. Tho using clear to get thru security was a breeze. I was thru in no time. I did have to wait for my friend and his dad tho since they had tsa pre-check and there was a line. Not too bad in terms of being crowded. In need of some renovation. We always fly out of BWI when we fly domestically and for the occasional international trip. They have been making renovations to the airport that makes it even more comfortable to fly out of. More food, retail, and bars in addition to expanded areas for baggage makes this airport a great choice when flying out the DMV. All in all, a great airport that continues to expand and offer more options for travelers, which is always a good thing. read more

Whew, it has been over a year since I was last on a plane. With all the tension around airports (government shutdown) I had high anxiety. So much so that I had a knot in my stomach for a few weeks (all for naught). Contrary to how the media was depicting the airports being a place of mass hysteria, it was not. But that could be because I had an early morning flight and I arrived at the airport over two hours in advance of my flight. The area of my concern was making my way through TSA, but that honestly was a breeze. Upon arrival, I took my last cigarette before having to go inside and wait for my flight. We were lucky that day, there were only three flights canceled out of BWI, and we were not one of them. Once inside, I made it to a check in, printed out my luggage tag, then made my way to the gate. Before I get into the screening process let me just say that the media has been painting a picture where it is just one huge line that everyone is stuck in. Particularly at BWI, the only gate they show you is Gate C. Yes, it is packed, but that is not the only gate opened. Especially if you have Clear of TSA Precheck. I entered through Gate B because I have TSA Precheck, I've had it for years. It took me mere minutes to get through. I am aware that not everyone has the means to pay for this or Clear, but since I did, I was able to get through the lines quickly. Wish they would show the other open gates and not show just the one crowded gate that everyone is forced to go through. As for the terminals themselves, they are well configured, easy to navigate, and has plenty to offer in regards to food/amenities/shopping. I found my boarding area rather quickly and just had to wait for boarding to begin. It gave me time to make sure everything was good. It was hilarious that I had been near this airport so many times, but never actually used this airport. Being from the DMV you have your choice of airports, BWI for me was always an afterthought. However, with this experience I may have to give it a go here again and again. read more

My go to airport in the area for its ease, Delta & Southwest flight availability, and distance from home. You can fly to a lot of a places (in the Caribbean, Europe, Latin America, etc.) from BWI despite being the smaller airport in the area so it's super convenient! Unfortunately, TSA precheck lines have gotten longer and they don't have many machines for that section so they should expand them knowing how many people have it now. The airport itself could use an overhaul (the new A/B connector is a start but it still feels like it's missing something. There's a lot of open space that isn't currently being used so I hope that changes soon). Bathrooms were renovated which is nice. There's still not a great selection of food in airport. If you have Priority Pass lounge access, The Club is a subpar lounge. There's not much food, or space for that matter. There's usually always a line and long wait if I try to go so I've stopped going because it's not worth the wait. All in all, for convenience, it'll still be my go to airport as long as they offer flights to my destination. read more

Update : I wish this airport would have more things available to the public, including hand sanitizer and masks. I noticed it when I went to Houston Hobby Airport, and think it should be incorporated to BWI as well. Other than that, BWI has always been the best airport to me locally. read more
