I played around with different makeup ideas, threw together a colorful outfit, and headed to my location for my birthday photo shoot, putting my self taught Makeup Artistry, Photography, Styling and Creative skills to the test.....combined with all my years of watching and studying tips from Americas Top Model, RuPaul Drag race , and The Face. He was great and hitting those angles.....he was snapping pictures of the event and photographing the elite yelpers as we made our way throughout the rooms with different themes. I just visited the U.S. Naval Academy Museum for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and I was…read morereally impressed. The museum is located in Preble Hall on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy, so you'll need to check in/go through security at the visitor entrance (they check ID and run your bags through a metal detector), but it was very fast. Then it's just a quick walk over to Preble Hall. When we entered, we welcomed to the museum by two docents, who briefly explained what could be found in the museum, including their favorite parts of the collection (which was perfect, because we had less than hour in the museum before they closed). The museum is two floors. The first floor has exhibits on the development of the Navy and the history of the Naval Academy. The second floor houses an incredible collection of models of warships from the 17th-19th centuries (one of the largest collections of ship models). I wasn't sure this would be that interesting to me, but the docents had really highlighted this part of the collection during their introduction. I'm so glad we trusted them, because it was fascinating. One part of this collection really blew me away - the bone model display. It might sound morbid, but these models were carved from the bones of beef rations given to French prisoners of war during their incarceration in England (Anglo-French wars of 1756-1815). I had no idea about any of this history (does anyone?!), and it was really interesting. But the first floor also had amazing artifacts, and I learned a lot. Overall, this museum (also free, by the way) was pretty great. Even if you're not typically interested in naval history, this museum is special. It's well-curated and interesting. And those docents were wonderful! I'm sure I'll be back to take in what I didn't have time to on my first visit!

Plan on taking an hour, maybe an hour and a half, to leisurely examine the exhibits. Docents are available to answer your questions. I found the exhibits amazing. Walking away from visiting NCM, I have to marvel at how smart and clever humans are. Encryption started way back. The Egyptians were known to encrypt messages. Thomas Jefferson encrypted his sensitive letters. Napoleon was a big fan of encryption. The mechanical encryption devices on display, from World War I on, are fascinating to see with all their bells and whistles.

If you start at one end, skip the ships in the middle, and walk to the other end it is a 10-15 minute walk.

One such room is Old Senate chamber where George Washington resigned his commission as Commander in Chief of the Continental Army on December 23, 1983. There are statues and chairs that set the scene. From 1783-1784 the U.S. Congress of Confederation was housed here, and ratified the Treaty of Paris, formally ending the Revolutionary War on May 7, 1784. Just off the grounds is the Thurgood Marshall Memorial Statue, which shows Marshall as a young lawyer. A nearby bench shows Donald Gaines Murray whose entrance into the Law School of the University of Maryland marked Marshall's first important victory in his struggle for school integration. Another bench shows figures of two children representing Marshall's most important achievement, Brown v. The Board of Education of Topeka et. al.

The grounds outside are nicely manicured and there are some things to see as well including cannons and a little building that is quite old but packed with history.
