    Interesting facts throughout all ships
    Kelly Y.

So much amazing history when visiting the four historic ships of Baltimore. These ships have been kept in amazing condition and allow pretty much full access to tourists to view and take in what life was like. So much information given throughout each ship and each area of the ships. Staff is also available to answer questions. Our kids enjoyed all the different ships and getting to see living quarters as did we as well! They even allow people to try lying down in the hammocks on the USS Constellation- very cool! We had heard these would be good to visit and the recommendations were right. So happy we got a chance to visit these ships. It definitely gives you an idea of what times were like as you step into these spaces and moments in history and more importantly what so many sacrificed for in our past for our country. MUST DO if you are visiting Baltimore!

"Historic Ships in Baltimore" is a collection of four historic ships and one lighthouse in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. You can walk the decks and explore each of the four ships (the lighthouse id only open Memorial Day to Labor Day) for the price of one ticket (and you don't have to tour them all in a single day, the "boarding pass" you get as your ticket allows you to visit each of the attractions within a 2-year-period). The ships are all varied and different from each other, so you're sure to want to visit them all to compare them and to learn about each. The USS Constellation is a naval ship from the Civil War era; the LV116 Chesapeake is a lightship; the USS Torsk is a submarine used in the Pacific in WWII; and the USCG Cutter 37 is a Coast Guard Cutter. The USS Torsk was really fascinating, my favorite stop of the day. Definitely worth a visit if you're interested in history or are exploring the Inner Harbor! A unique Baltimore experience.

My friend suggested we go aboard the USS Constellation while we were in Inner Harbor and I agreed. We found out that admission gives you access to the other military vessels in the harbor, which is great. There is a small visitor center next to the Constellation, where you can buy tickets, and learn the history of the ship before boarding. We also went onboard the USCG Cutter and the USS Torsk. All were great and I highly recommend visiting. Being on the submarine was fascinating. You can also do overnights on these vessels or book guided group tours as well. I had such a great time tour the ships and highly recommend it. It was so much fun and very interesting.

We had limited time in Baltimore (2.5 days and 2 nights) and the weather was against us. The lighthouse was closed for the season, and we managed to visit three ships of the four (the submarine, sloop of war, and lightship) before closing time. It was raining that day (part of the reason why we ran out of time, because we hid in the aquarium) so the ships were deserted. Staff is willing to help you get into the bowels of each vessel; and I reaffirmed that I wasn't built for the navy. I am a tiny woman but I had a hard time negotiating those stairs and the headspace (or maybe just the claustrophobia). Your tickets are good for a year from purchase, so you can always revisit! There's history packed into every corner, so take your time wandering.

I Had to come to the harbor to check out the boats its great to see parts of history to learn and appreciate its background story thus place does have laot of foot traffic which it should its a tourist attraction so that should be expected I would recommend coming to see it

While we were in Baltimore of the coolest thing we did was go to The harbor and see the ships and see all those shops and make food and everything. We had a lot of good photo ops and I saw lotta good boats here at the Baltimore harbor I really like to see it all the historic ships to head and seeing the rich history about it

Overall the ships were very cool. Getting to tour inside a submarine is a rare opportunity and one you shouldn't miss. Unfortunately the staff leaves a lot to be desired. We had my disabled mother-in-law with us and the attendant at one the ships couldn't be bothered to put he candy down and operate the elevator for her. This seriously impaired her ability to visit the ships, and something that is hard to be forgiven.

This attraction is amazing and so informative. Although we got there late and really only had time to tour the Constellation, there is a wealth of fascinating historical facts to read. You could probably spend at least a couple of hours on the Constellation to look through everything, so I felt like it was a good value for the price. They provide a self-guided tour, so you can see what you want to see, but the staff were happy to answer questions. We hope to be able to check out the other ships included (they also have a submarine docked near the aquarium and a 2 other ships) if we make it back to Baltimore FYI: If you show up within an hour or two of their scheduled closing time, they don't offer reduced rate admission. So, you'll still be paying the full price, whether you only have time to see one ship or all of the vessels.

The Historic Ships in Baltimore at the Inner Harbor is a must-do attraction/destination in Charm City (Est.1975). A very important part of city/state history for residents and tourists to see. The Historic ships are just minutes away from the heart of the famed "Charm'tastic Mile" and easily accessible to many of the hotels, restaurants & shops nearby.

A great visual of our maritime past. & a unique part of our Civil War history! Easy to view from the Baltimore Harbour.

We were then encouraged to visit three floors of the museums that were open. I was lucky enough to secure a free Thursday ticket, otherwise, there is an admission fee for the exhibit. Finding it was super easy because the staff gave great directions. It was crowded but the flow of the space made it not so overwhelming. All of her paintings were beautiful and meaningful. I loved that they included information about the pieces, what made her choose certain colors, how she chose what height the paintings should be placed and a short video of how she started her career and her process of creating. After leaving her exhibit, I wandered off to see other portions of the museum. The collections were beautiful. I didn't get to see everything because it was getting late but I look forward to visiting again soon.

I'm ashamed to say - as a person that lives in Hampden and loves art - that I didn't know anything about the Amaranthine Museum (or had even heard about it) before it was included in Doors Open 2024! So what is it? It's a museum dedicated to local maximalist artist Les Harris. The space is tiny but practically every surface (even parts of the ceiling) are covered in Les Harris's art (there are supposedly 250 works in this tiny little space)! Les Harris's daughter welcomed guests at the entrance, gave a description of her father's art and works, and answered questions as guests walked around. I can't emphasize enough that this is a small space - just one room! But it's packed full of fascinating art (Harris's work looks back through history - focusing on art and culture and time and consciousness) and is such a unique experience. I was blown away by the art and the space itself. Having the artist's daughter there to explain his work made the visit even more special. It's not open on a regular schedule, so if you want to visit this unique space, visit their website and click "III.
