Living in two states, CT and PA., I try to time my cuts to be in CT so I can go to HBD. Last month I had a terrible, awful hair cut in Philadelphia. Six weeks later, I arrived at HBD and could see, "What happened to you?" in Casey's eyes. And then, snip, snip, snip, she fixed it. I felt like myself again. When I called I said I was a new client and needed a "really good" haircut with lots of layering, bangs, I have thick hair, the whole works. The original date I asked for was full and a different date was offered, I said yes, excited because I've wanted to try out this salon for a long time based on reviews/photos. When I went in, it was quiet - just 1 other person getting their hair done. After being seated my stylist suddenly seemed flustered by the time (we had a little over an hour before the place closed, which I hadn't realized before) and said she couldn't style my hair. To her credit she asked if I wanted a shampoo but I felt rushed and said we could skip it. I explained what I really wanted (a short wolf cut) but my only reservation was it was before a wedding, and she agreed it could look awkward. In truth I brought it up to gauge her reaction because I didn't want someone who wasn't enthused about it to make such a drastic change to my hair. No problem, had a safer backup ready to go, still with lots of edgy layers and the V-cut I love. Talked it out and showed a reference pic from all angles of this haircut. What I received was nothing close. My hair was cut bluntly straight across, my layers almost blend into the longest ends of my hair, and my face framing pieces are completely uneven. She did a good job on my bangs, though at the time, they were flying straight off my face. I'm talking almost 90 degrees. I was trying not to panic and reassure her at the same time so she didn't feel bad that I looked ridiculous, saying my hair just needed to figure it out and would settle. I walked out of the salon with one hand literally covering my forehead holding down my bangs trying not to cry and thankfully had a beanie in the car to throw over my head. I've gotten bad cuts before but never walked out looking wild like that. I will say - that experience has opened me up to try cutting my own hair at home, so I bought some shears and am looking forward to experimenting.

My daughter's hair has been butchered. I've never seen such a bad haircut in my entire life. And it took two of the "stylists": one who first cut her hair and the second shot attempted to correct it. I have extremely long, thick hair that requires a lot of work (and that I had recently box dyed - yikes!) and Sage really took the time to create exactly the look that I wanted with a beautiful full head of highlights. The space is beautiful and welcoming with lots of light, and all of the ladies working there create an incredibly warm and fun atmosphere. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful new hairstyle!

What a gem in Torrington! The physical salon is as impressive as the treatments (check out the…read morepics). Since this was an industrial building, the spaces have tall ceilings and tons of light. Along with massage rooms there's a beautiful hair salon and an infrared sauna (very cool, well, hot). The waiting room has nicely upholstered sofas plus the omnipresent Keurig machine. I think that once they get up and going they might bring in a Nespresso to go with the upscale decor and services. My only suggestion is that they tone to potpourri scent way down! My friend and I had an incredible massage from Meghan. You can Google her for more 5 star reviews. My friend was so pleased that she booked weekly massages! I hope they survive Covid! Please give them your business- it's well worth it!
