I purchased a Emmo knight with aparently brand new sealed Lead Acid batteries, I asked him precisly if the batteries would take me to Kipling and Lakeshore he told me yes!!! so from Danforth Avenue to dundas and river is roughly 9 kms, the bike never even made it to broadview and danforth, which is 3 kms away, when i picked up thre bike the batteries were fully charges as it shouwed on the display, when i called him and told him that idt died and where he told me you bought the bike its your problem now, when i took the bike to AZ source where i live i found out that the batteries were old, they would not hold a charge, so afterr paying 240 for a tow truck to my home, and another 950 for batteries and $1800 for the bike i thought that i had a decent bike now, then while riding it the controller blew SMH was told the bike had the so 3 days and over 3000 dollars i still have no bike because he refuses to do anything, Now i had to sell the bike for 800 because the controller needed replacing dont buy from this guy he does not care about his customers read more

The guy doesn't seem to really care about his customers and concerns. He looked like he got out of bed and was annoyed having people there. He can be blunt and impatient. The work he did mounting a battery was very shabby. He merely glued it on instead of rivets and screws. Then he charged over an hours labor. I had initially taken the battery mount off but didn't have the tools to mount it. There's no way that took over one hour to glue on. By the time I saw it I was shocked. I have had nothing but good experiences with Byron Bikes. I've had many a tune-up and upgraded to a new bike almost five seasons ago and my bike is still going strong, thanks to top-notch assistance/tuneups/advice and fair pricing. There are other places on The Danforth (particularly across the street), but I don't trust any of them. Many are pretty shady and sell stolen bikes, but NOT here. He also stores bikes over winter. read more

After a predictably horrendous experience at 'Bike and Forth' further East on Danforth, I came to Byron Bikes, which is where I should have come in the first place. Needing a replacement handlebar post for an obscure and probably bad knockoff of a Rad e-bike, the work was done very quickly and a good price - plus he's an interesting and funny guy to talk to. This is where I will be going from now on. Even if it weren't so close by, I would go out of my way to go to Byron Bikes. Oh, and don't even think of going to 'Bike and Forth'... unnless you like witnessing verbal abuse and big drama. read more

A total nightmare. 1) Terrible customer service: didn't listen to me at all, instead opting to speak over me. He was a nightmare to interact with and was routinely belligerent, rude, and condescending. 2) An Incompetent Brute: roughly twisted a folding handlebar stem without loosening the components... Insisted the clearly drained battery was "full". Spelled my name and email wrong, despite me correcting him on at least 5 different occasions (including over text), then did not seem to grasp that sending an email (if he even did) to the wrong email address would not actually reach me. Claimed the bike was "fine" (after he "repaired" the leaking break with black tape) despite the battery damage, physical bike damage, loose pedal, and electric gear shift that was blown off... Repeatedly got basic facts (like the age of the new bike) wrong and refused to listen or correct himself when the facts were presented. Also pretended to know my insurance policy better than me, despite him never having seen it. Refused to listen. Acted on assumption alone. Refused to note the obvious physical damage to the bike, claiming he "knew insurance wouldn't cover it" (for the record, it absolutely does...) 3) Routinely belligerent and dishonest: claimed to have texted me and emailed me "dozens of times" when my records only he only texted and did so twice. Denied and gaslit me about points discussed during our last interaction (unknown to him I had recorded the interaction for documentation purposes ). Additionally he threatened to keep my bike, while knowing it is a mobility device for me--then going on to threaten to call my insurance and lie to them to get me in trouble... He claimed over text and in person that he would provide a refund, but I have yet to see the return, and severely doubt I ever will.... 4) Unsanitary: the place reeked of cheap cigarets and alcohol. Which might help explain the belligerence and slurred speech. He left garbage IN my bike helmet that I had left with the bike (as it was also damaged). The bike itself came back filthy. While I have some compassion for whatever Byron might be going through, and do hope he gets the help he needs, he really ought to work himself out with a licensed therapist rather than taking it out on customers. read more

BEWARE OF BATTERY SCAM Hello everyone, Last summer I purchased a folding ebike from Byron for $1500. I was interested in the bike because I do food deliveries downtown, and he claimed it had a "20Amp" battery. I knew from my calculations that a 20Amp battery, on a 20km/h speed capped bike should give me at least 60km of riding distance. After purchasing the bike I put it to work right away, and I was lucky if I got 30km out of it. I decided one day, to open up my battery pack (which voids Byrons supposed warranty) After opening the battery pack, I found a tiny 8Amp battery inside, stuffed with cardboard so it doesnt move around. I immediately called Byron back, sent him pictures of the battery, there was a big sticker on the battery that said "8Ah" and the battery itself was too small to be a 20Amp. Byron refused to acknowledge my findings, he kept saying "well you opened the battery and I can't do anything". two weeks later I ordered a 12.5Ah battery from China for $230. The battery came in, it was heavier than Byrons battery by a lot, and my riding distance on the 12.5Amp battery is now 45-55km on average. Beware of Byron's battery scams. Know your math when you buy ebike batteries. Most ebike dealers in Canada are just glorified middlemen. You can get all their stuff directly from alibaba for a fraction of the cost. Don't let people like Byron Bikes swindle you due to your lack of knowledge. read more

Had an ebike emergency yesterday (6/7/18) with a slow leaking front tire. Called Byron Bikes to see if they could fix it while I waited. No problem. Was in and out in half an hour and rode worry free to work. Excellent and quick service. Nice chatting with knowledgeable owner. Would definitely recommend. read more

Replacement parts prices are not cheap but they are fair. Owner provides repair/maintenance info free of charge, and very valuable.

Horrible man who does not back his merchandise. I bought a gas powered bicycle from him and it broke the same day I bought it. I fixed some of the issues myself, but brought it back to him to fix some smaller things. left the bike at his shop for two weeks and he did nothing. I've never met a lazier person so full of excuses. read more

(repost) This is a short version of my dealings with Byron Bikes. James Byron has repeatedly broken his word regarding the E-Bike that I purchased from him in June and refused to honour warranty norms. Even though I had the bike less than three months, he would not replace a defective charger, and had no replacements for it in stock when he told me that I would have to purchase one. He said he would contact me when he had them in stock, and not once did he call. In October, when the bike was only 4 months old, the batteries began failing. I cannot go more than 12 km before i have to pedal the bike. He seems to have nothing but excuses. He booked me for an appointment to come in and then told me that the mechanic had come on Wed instead of Fri. He never bothered to call me. He arranged to call me the following Fri to set up another appointment, but did not phone. I dropped in and was told that I would get a call from them the next time the mechanic was coming in. That was over three weeks ago. My warranty is up in the latter part of December, and he is just stalling so that he does not have to honour it. When I dropped in this week, he said it was my fault because I hadn't brought the bike in. He is full of excuses, totally lacking in customer service. read more
