I would suggest you bring your bike to a blind Orangutan for a tuneup before you consider Oxygen. Far and above the worst experience I've ever had at any business in my life, not just of bike shops, but of all businesses. This place completely and utterly destroyed my bike. I brought mine in for a simple tuneup, and they called me to suggest changing the pedals. I agreed. And within 1 hour of my first bike ride the pedals slowly fell off and it destroyed my crank arm and front chain wheel. My god! After bringing my bike back they very reluctantly agreed to fix it but replaced my very good chain wheel with a chain wheel you'd get in a cereal box. My bike has never functioned so poorly in the years I've owned it. Very incompetent staff. I just wanted a simple tune up and I got back a bike with lesser parts that functions significantly worse than it ever had. read more

Review is based on "shopping experience" during the lockdown. Store is located on the south side of Lakeshore, literally just West of Humber College and directly across the street from Snack Shack. It is parallel street parking here - I don't think anyone pays if they're in/out. Lockdown procedure here is 1 customer at a time, with masks, and entrance area is roped off. Once you enter, an employee will greet you, grab the stuff you're looking for, and you go from there. So unfortunately, there's no real browsing. It's a better experience if you know what you want! My first experience here was pretty positive and efficient as I already knew the accessories (bell, bottle cage) that I needed and wasn't being super picky about them. The girl who helped me was friendly and she even came out to my car to determine whether or not my existing bottle cage was broken, it was. Prior to driving out here, I was on their website and apparently, IF you buy a new bike here, you get free tuneups - not free flat/chain fixing - FOR LIFE! That's a pretty good incentive if this store happens to carry the bike that you're looking for. read more

In September of 2014, at a blowout sale on CNE grounds I bought my first bike I had purchased in 14 years. I remember meeting one of the guys from Oxygen there. He was extremely professional, friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. My three interactions I've had with all the folks at Oxygen have been positive. They give me free tune ups for life with the purchase of the bike. In the spring of 2015 they fixed a cable on my bike for free, and today (sept 2015) I had an informative feedback interaction with one of the mechanics while dropping my bike off for the yearly tune up. Good guys, with good knowledge in a small shop, but worth the time checking them out and doing business with them. They're just too far away from where I live :) read more

First time to this location. Called for an appointment and could not get one for a month and a half which was fine. Dropped off and the staff were vey friendly and would call me when complete. They only allow one customer at a time for covid. It took three weeks to complete the service however they were honest on how busy they were when I called and spoke with the owner. When I picked it up they were again very friendly and gave a detailed description of all work done. The bike is like brand new and am vey happy with the work done. Overall I think this may be a five star place but will adjust on future visits as the star was taken off due to the length of time to complete the work. read more

I bought a bike from Oxygen Bike company two years ago (great experience dealing with Chris, the manager). I recently had a fall after dodging someone who fell off their skateboard. My bike handle bent inwards. I brought it in to see if it could be fixed. Jeremy fixed it right up (handle bar wasn't broken), and checked to make sure everything else was running fine. Best customer service possible. We bought two bikes during covid-19 pandemic. First, we looked at the web site, then called the shop and received excellent advice and guidance from Amy. We went back to the web site and ordered the bikes on line; a Norco and Cannondale. Shawn called and quickly sorted out some credit card matters and he personally delivered the bikes to us the next week. Everyone at Oxygen Bike Co. was friendly, knowledgable and genuinely cared about wanting us to get our bikes and have the best experience possible. It's a nice new shop and I met the owner who was friendly. The service level was pretty low however. I called and asked if they had pedals and shoes in my size and was assured that unless I was a size 15, the had me covered. Also that it would only take 15 minutes to install and I would be on my way. Delighted, I arrived at the shop 15 mins later to discover they didn't have anything close to my size (8,9,10) or even equivalent in women's sizes. The friendly shop keep and owner (Shawn/Sean) explained that they will order and have my size the next two businesses days and would phone me - a week later no call so I phoned - spoke to the owner once again who didn't remember anything and said shoes wouldn't be coming in for another week *maybe*. Oh well, guess they are still working on the kinks and customer service. read more

Came to your shop to get my flat fixed. I mentioned to the repair person that's it was a slow leak and if they could please check the tire, tube and rim to see where it was leaking. Service was very quick and the inner tube was replaced, but unfortunately the tire wasn't fixed properly (the new innertube was still leaking the next day). I called your shop the next day and they told me they can fix the problem, they wouldn't guarantee their previous work, even though they missed what was causing the problem. Because of this, I went to Curbside Cycle in The Annex and the repair person found the problem in 3 minutes (the tire had glass in it), told me how to prevent the same problem from happening in the future, *and* guarenteed the work (when I had a similar issue with Sporting Life a few years back, they guarenteed their work as well). Needless to say, I am very disappointed at the experience I had it Oxygen and I am not sure I will be going back to the future, which is too bad since I like to support local businesses in my area. read more

Excellent service and nothing better than free tune ups for life. I came here around February to purchase a road bike as I wanted to get into road cycling for exercise. Chris helped me out and was extremely knowledgable in picking out a bike that fit my needs and my budget. He also took the time and patience to explain things to me (as I was completely new to road bikes) and answer all my questions. We probably spent over an hour going through different bikes and adjusting it to my needs. I really appreciated that help. Since then I've dropped by the shop to pick up some additional gear and once to ask about an issue I was with the bike. They showed me what the problem was, what caused it, and fixed it immediately. Their service is what keeps me coming back. As mentioned above, when you buy a bike from the shop you get free tune ups for the life of the bike - which is obviously a great bonus. If you at all feel intimidated about the bike culture, don't be. Just visit Oxygen and they'll guide you through everything and eventually you'll be riding away extremely pleased with your decision. read more

This place is really great! I finally came for a tune up (haven't had one since I purchased my bike). They were right on time in terms of estimating when it would be done. I would've preferred it to be a bit sooner, but it's a lifetime of tune ups if you purchase your bike at their shop. Lifetime of tune ups! How amazing is that? Poor service. Don't take your mountain bike here, the mechanic tried to BS what needed to be fixed, which was obvious, and then later said he wasn't an expert on mountain bikes and that we should bring it back when the owner was in. He also tried to upsell chain replacement on a new bike... saying it looked warn . Ended up going to Browns, they fixed the fork issue for less than $30, with no hassle and no sleezy sales tactics read more

A friend gave me a folding bike that he hadn't used in a very long time. I went to Oxygen Bike Co. because it was local and the yelp reviews were good. I came in expecting that the bike needed a complete tune up. Chris pumped up the tires, tested it out and assured me it was in fine condition. He made adjustments on the bike so that it would fit me. It's been years since I've been on a bike. Chris was fantastic in helping select a new lock, helmet and even installed my new water bottle cage on the spot. I noticed that staff helping other customers while I was there were also friendly. Glad this is my local bike shop. Great customer service. read more

I had a bad experience ordering tires. Once they arrived at the store the store never called me for weeks. I left voice mails and emails, but they never returned either. Once the tires came, they had ordered the wrong size! Then, the clerk didn't want to give me my money back because I didn't have a receipt. Finally the manager gave me my money back. I ride quite a bit and beat up my bikes pretty good- especially my mountain bike. ( trail winter rides in the snow and mud) I messed up the bearings on my Mtn bike pretty badly and brought it in to THE OTHER shop that was a bit East of Oxygen on Lakeshore (they have since moved to Dundas West) Long story short -I had to bring in the bike twice due to poor mechanic skills which left me stranded an hour or so away from home-each time with a smashed up rear derailer due to wheel lock up. You would think after explaining this to the kids on site at THE OTHER shop that they would waive any cost for parts and labour due to the mechanics poor workmanship-no dice-not the case. They charged me. When the bike faulted the 3rd time for the same reason, I decided the only way to show my dis-satisfaction was to cease using this establishment for my bike tune ups and any future purchases/ ( my boy will require a road bike soon) I decided to bring the bike to Oxygen. This is a great shop doing all the right things to ensure a positive customer experience. Shawn (owner) shares his expertise and un-biased opinions on products and will only recommend what he feels will suit your needs. There may be an unforeseen hiccup beyond the stores control but Shawn will do everything possible to ensure you are happy once you leave his store. The staff are very knowledgeable and actually SPEAK to the customer! I also participated in the Spin classes at OXYGEN and they were great. Different instructors throughout the week with unique styles and different music to keep your legs moving and your heart pumping. Great to see a bike shop in this location that is part of the community. As I mentioned I ride quite a bit and I am asked frequently about bikes. I am no expert but I refer whomever I can to Oxygen without any hesitation as I know they will be well taken care of. Give them a try-you will not be disappointed. read more
