The waters in the little brown jug...I'm just having the water. Yup! Aloha
    Jeffery A.

Walking along the River Thames is a pure joy! Seeing the reflected March moonlight in those dark, murky, historic waters alone was purely delightful. The crisp air, and breath appearing as we spoke, added to the charm of the first enchanting evening in London. Along our path I spied Côte (that's French for "Coast," as in Côte d'Azur). ;) I don't get everything I want in life, I've learned that, and I've learned to live with it, but seeing Côte and it's bright lights, and fashionable facade? I was insistent (whining and begging count as insistency?) on dining there. There was a twenty minute wait, this place was packed, and when we were shown to our table, and approached by our server, I knew instantly, she was in the "weeds". Have you ever been in the "weeds"? Cause I sure have, and it's not a fun place to be. Often all you need is just a little something that helps you out. After her abrupt introduction, and getting our drink order, I stopped her. "You know what?" I said. She smirked. "Your night is about to get a whole lot better. I know things." and smiled. I could see the change come over her. This is a chain restaurant, but Côte takes chain to a whole new level. You have to imagine Olive Garden on HGH. Vaulted entryway, dome ceiling, classic bent rattan chairs all with a French wink and nod, but a British pub feel. I was blown away by the food and price point. Understand, that in a chain standardization is the key to success. That means many of the spices, sauces, produce, oils, are mixed, cooked, and plated in the same way. They all originate from the same purveyor or group of purveyors. This generally leads to boredom in the kitchen, but it insures that the veal stock you taste at Hay's Galleria will taste exactly the same at Convent Garden. The Beef Bourguignon was a perfectly stewed blend of bacon lardons, tender, slow cooked beef, that was just so succulent, mushrooms, onions, and carrots with a precise amount of tomato paste in the griottine cherry sauce . This was a shared dish, and it was equal in quantity to the task. Their heart shaped biscuits? Excellent touch! Lamb shank with a whole grain mash in a veal Rosemary sauce. The lamb, I thought was a bit over done, but the whole grain mustard mashed potatoes and veal sauce (which I suspect is from a can, cause there was no veal on the menu, but bravo!) made for a bread sopping finish. And then... The tomatoes and shallots with basil...my sweet lord. Never, ever, will I taste a tomato that was so perfectly ripe. The texture was perfect, the shallots caramelized to the edge of sweetness, and basil (lacking in quantity!) that could have been from my own garden. I could go on for days about just this, but that would be murderous. Back to the weeds: In the UK a 12.5pc (they use pc for %) service charge is added most everywhere. While waiting to be seated I read a article from the Evening Standard how Côte was (accused of) keeping this and saying it allowed them to pay higher wages than the UK "Living Wage"...sorry, I'm not from the UK. After I received the check, I ask for the manager to remove the service charge (which they will do upon request). I then added 18% and slipped a little something extra into the pocket. When I handed it to my server, I said: "What's there is for you." No matter who you are (me included), nor what you do, we have all been in the "weeds" at one point or another...it only takes a little understanding to find our way out. My crew applauded...this is why they love me. Service was excellent. Give Aloha

3.5 .5 cuz that 2/3 course menu has a price that makes me smile. .5 cuz service was fantastique I'm new to french food, so i'm gonna assume this is "british" french, n'est-ce pas? I went to the London Bridge location and we got a brilliant table over looking the Thames and the weather was gorgeous so I fully enjoyed the atmosphere. The waiter was the BEST I have had in London. He was kind, engaging. Made nice conversation, very helpful with the menu. I have been looking for such service in the UK and finally found it. I wanted to tip more it was such good service. Really made me miss home. The mussels were lovely. No fault of Cote's but I have found I don't like mussels in tomato sauce, I much prefer it in a creme. Great time catching up and I would go back for the courses again. I didn't feel slighted at all by my choices

We dropped I. After Tower of London visit for lunch. Great brassiere. French onion soup was my favorite. We were a large group and we all ordered something different. Everyone raves about their dish. Definitely recommend

    The special chicken & steak

Let me start by saying I thought this was a good restaurant to be in a tourist area. The prices were reasonable for London. We ordered the special. The chicken and steak and split. The chicken was a bit on the dry side but edible. The sauce on top was good. The steak was a thin flat steak. It was good. One came with fritters or french fries. The other with scalloped potatoes. Both were really good. The steak & chicken were not the best I've ever had but it was a nice break from fish & chips. Sitting out by the water and enjoying the view was a big plus! We also ordered dessert. Their special which is a custard with carmel. It reminded me of flan. Nothing special My co-worker ordered the chocolate fondant which was cake with creamy chocolate oozing out of it with a side of ice cream. That was soooooo delicious! Wish I would got that. Overall a good experience. Our server was awesome! I would definitely go back!

Great French restaurant on the south bank with phenomenal view of the river and surrounding landmarks, very romantic. We tried the duck and seafood mix, pairs with couple of bottles of Pino noir, cream caramel for dessert, the food was spectacular. Service was excellent, what a gem on the Thames.

Had a nice birthday meal here with the birthday girl and a group of 10. The service was good, and brisk for a party. We even moved seats to circulate during the course of the meal and the waiters still got the orders correct, which I thought was very good, they found you wherever you sat. They had party things on the table too, which was fun, like fake lips and moustaches, and funny spectacles. We had an area at the back of the restaurant, which worked well for our group, and felt very private, and we had a lot of fun. A good wide choice on the menu, to suit everyone's tastes. For starters, I had the Prawn Gratinée, this was king prawns in white wine, garlic, chilli and tomato sauce with toasted garlic and parsley croutons, lovely flavours and very tasty, mmmm. A good starter, so looked forward to the mains. I chose the Roast Seabass, which was served with braised fennel and a champagne beurre blanc with chives and tomato concasse. A large filet of fish roasted perfectly, but not too sure about the champagne white butter sauce with chopped chives and tomatoes, which lacked the taste that I was expecting and needed something else to give it a bit more oomph, which was supposed to flavour the plainly roasted fish. It made eating such a large size filet quite a chore, as I got bored, so would have a preferred a smaller filet with a tastier sauce, and perhaps served with some green vegetables and dauphinoise potatoes to make the dish more interesting to eat. No one was interested in having any dessert, as we were late starting dinner, and being almost 11.30pm, we just didn't have time and were more interested in going off to an after party, but the dessert menu looked good! Definitely a lovely place for a dinner party.

I feel like all my friends who've been to London have come back talking about this place, and I'm happy to join their ranks. Dishoom was also one of a handful of dining options recommended by my hotel concierge for a party of 11, including kids. Booking was easy, via SevenRooms, no phone calls or emails necessary. It's a large restaurant, and part of a popular chain--I guess they have things figured out. The space was great, open and casual, exposed ceilings and eclectic decor. Lots of fans, which my three-year-old appreciated. Service was friendly and attentive. I started my lunch with a drink, a refreshing green India Gimlet, gin and Rose's lime with celery bitters and fresh dill. I also tried and liked a sip of the New Permit Room Old-Fashioned, a slightly sweet cocktail with coconut-washed bourbon, Pedo Ximénez sherry, and Medjool date liqueur. There was only one menu available for a party of our size, a pre-set family-style group feast for eight adults, to which we added a pre-ordered platter of lamb chops. I loved the variety of dishes that came with this meal, and every one of them was ridiculously delicious. (There was less available for the three small American children, but they loaded up on hotel breakfast and snacked on naan and colorful puffed crackers.) The first round brought trays loaded with keema pau, okra fries, and bhel, along with lime, cilantro, and sauces for serving. The keema pau was incredible, probably my favorite dish of our lunch, if in part because it was 100% new to me. It was a spicy, aromatic blend of minced lamb and peas with dill and lindi pepper, served with toasted, buttered buns to make little sliders. So much flavor, it almost explained, by itself, why the British could never leave India alone. The okra fries were warm and crispy, and I loved the bhel, a crunchy snack of puffed rice, peanuts, and Bombay Mix tossed with pomegranate, tomato, onion, lime, tamarind, and mint. The main course was another giant spread: chicken ruby, house black daal, awadhi jackfruit biryani, and chilled broccoli salad, plus our charred lamb chops, with sides of roti, naan, and raita. The chicken ruby was the highlight here, a fragrant, comforting curry with tender chicken in a buttery makhani sauce. The house black daal is a Dishoom signature, and it was lovely, cooked for over 24 hours. The biryani was fluffy and nice, studded with jackfruit, barberries, and sultanas. The broccoli salad was a fresh hit of green, enhanced with pistachio, mint, red chillies, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, dates, and lime. The lamb chops made for a hearty entrée with a lot of flavor, the lamb marinated, grilled, and finished with Kashmiri chilli sauce. The thin, griddled roomali roti and the fresh-baked naan were both great accompaniments, as was the minty, cucumbery raita. For dessert, we had a choice of kulfi, creamy ice pops available in mango, pistachio, or malai, the original flavor touched with caramel. All three were superb, so cold and milk, easy to throw down the hatch. This was, it turned out, an enormous feast, but everything was so delicious and well balanced that I didn't notice how much I was eating until I got up. I was still full several hours later, when we went to dinner. If you want to eat Indian food in London, you should definitely find your nearest Dishoom. It's a wonderful restaurant, with top-notch food and no hassle. I certainly intend to go again.

First, I started with the mango lassi which was so fresh and naturally sweet. I loved the fennel seeds on top for added flavor. Such a great start to the meal. My favorites of the night were the chicken ruby (a must order and crowd pleaser), lamb biryani, and black daal. The chilli chicken was also a super flavorful app to share and the garlic naan was great as well. Everything is nicely flavored and I appreciate how patient and understanding the staff were with the food allergies and restrictions our group had. Definitely a must in London!

The waiters were nice but the food was not the best. I got a scrambled egg on toast with smoked salmon & the salmon had a fishy smell to it, was flavorless and there was barely any hot sauce available. My friend also thought her burger was just okay as well with the biggest positive point being the bacon. That being said, the fried dough balls dipped in chocolate were really great and so were the holiday specials for alcoholic drinks. While the inside was spacious and retro and had a cool vibe, I have to knock down points for the actual food itself and wish that I had kept the memory of how much I enjoyed this place pre Covid as that since I wouldn't make my way out to this restaurant again even if I'm in the area.

Bacon was too oily. Potatoes tasted over-seasoned. I'm not a fan of mushrooms in general, so I couldn't tell if they were good or not, I just don't like mushrooms. I was most disappointed in the beans. They were heavily seasoned in some kind of curry, when all I wanted was normal English beans. The food wasn't terrible, I was simply expecting better quality.

So I live around the corner and have always popped in, in an attempt to try their legendary burgers. I've always arrived on the last day etc etc and left it. The open hours that come up online and are not accurate and need updating, they were certainly open later than 8 when I visited on a Wednesday. Alas, today. The lovely chef/gentleman working behind the counter in 34 degree heat talked me through the options. I went for the Veg Thai green curry with rice and a beef steak (in some delicious sauce and Parmesan). The Thai green curry had unbelievable depth of flavour - actually rivalling many Thai restaurants in my opinion. The beef steak. So flipping soft. HOW!? Simply blown away. I don't really know what else to say to be honest. So much love and care has gone into this food - you can really tell - I'm serious. If you find yourself walking by and are tempted - please give it a go. Their lasagne looked amazing too... I haven't even mentioned the price - dirt cheap considering the area and far superior.. Go!
