Nice yet not overly fancy French restaurant serving quality French cuisine. I came for dinner and ordered from the 3 course prix fixe menu (£22.50). Crispy Whitebait- These little crispy fish were kind of like sardines. They were surprisingly meaty and not overly fishy. They were a good (and somewhat filling) starter for the meal. Poulet Grille- The chargrilled chicken breast was cooked well and not dry at all. The mushroom and thyme sauce was creamy and added some nice flavor to the chicken. Chocolate Mousse- This was a delicious dessert, as the mousse was nice and fluffy with a good flavor that was chocolately but still on the lighter side. The restaurant has an elegant brasserie kind of atmosphere. There were a handful of other tables occupied on a Sunday night but we were able to get a table without issue. My main complaint is the service though. While it wasn't terrible, it wasn't great either. It was very slow, especially for the dessert. Eventually we had to ask the waitress to check on it for us because it had just taken so long to come. Also, the waitress asked if I wanted ketchup for the fries (which was nice of her to ask), to which I replied yes, and then the ketchup just never came! The staff also seemed slightly disorganized in terms of who was handling what (ex: who would deliver the dishes, handle the payment, etc.). Overall, Côte has quality French food in a nice setting, but the service leaves some room for improvement which is why I am settling on 4 stars for this review. read more

We were by St. Paul's Cathedral walking around and trying to find some food... WOW this place was so stellar it was unbelievable. We were not dressed for the occasion with our backpacks and rugged look but we didn't feel out of place. We order the Shrimp for appetizers with steak frites for the entree which was probably the best things. Cooked perfectly medium rare. THE COFFEE IS CRAZY YOU MUST TRY IT! Ate here everyday when I stayed in London. I'll start with back of house, where every dish had a level of harmony. You know when the seasoning is just right? Any egg or omelette dish.. Also, the rhubarb martini was unreal - literally put me in a good mood. The service was also top notch and I feel like I became friends with the staff. I ate here whilst staying at the Club Quarters hotel above. It has the ambiance of a French bistro, and is right by St Paul's cathedral. If you want a view grab one of the two seats in the window, or outside if you don't mind the traffic and tobacco fumes. Downstairs felt too claustrophobic for my liking. The food was ok. I had the Poulet Grillé. The chicken was cooked well with a tasty mushroom sauce, served with gratin potatoes, but they were not as hot as the chicken and let the dish down. I had cheese for dessert served with 4 slices of baguette. The cheese was good. I'll give this place another go and hopefully I'll get warmer vegetables next time. read more

I was staying at the attached Club Quarters, so I went here twice, once for an overpriced unexciting English Breakfast, and once for a dinner. My French Onion soup was burnt on the top instead of toasted, and the soup was not very good anyway. I also had risotto where the rice was stuck together in clumps. My wife had the special fish stew, which had no broth, and was supposed to have a mix of fish, mussels, and clams. One of the reasons she got it was she wanted clams, the portion of the clams though was three very small (3 cm diameter) clams. read more

I visited this location twice in two days and the service really varied quite a bit between visits. My first experience was actually quite nice -- decent food, friendly service. The buckwheat/Breton crepe was the highlight of our first visit. The second visit was less than pleasant. We waited for a long time before the waitress came to take our orders (actually another couple walked out because of the long wait), and our full English breakfast came without the toast, but we were still charged the full amount. If there was ever a time when I did not want to tip the waiting staff, this would've been one it. The house coffee was quite memorable in that it had a really strong flavor (not necessarily a good thing since I prefer my coffee milder...). I have been here several times in the private dining rooms for dinner. We are normally a party of 10-14. This is a "business" style get together as we discuss the organisation that we volunteer for, so we do use the audio and presentation equipment they have here. The food is always good. There are a selections of what you can have usually a choice between 4 starters, and 4 mains which we pre-order (obviously people that just turn up for dinner have a full menu). The group can be somewhat unorganised and not remember what was ordered, be talking when the poor waiter is trying to serve the food, and credit to the staff at Cote, they smile through this, even on the 4th time of asking who the heck ordered risotto! We had issues linking up a laptop to the projector and they came and fixed it for us. They subtly check in on us to see if we require anything else. The wine is quietly kept on top of to the back of the room by the waiter. There are lots of mini bottles of tap water on the table, in really cute pottery bottles. They let us spend as long as we want and we are normally one of the last to leave, but they never mind or say anything. A solid place to go for good food, service and a private dining room and very affordable prices. read more

Surprisingly, given my thoughts on most chain restaurants, popping into a Cote brasserie for a bite to eat at the bar isn't an issue. I don't mind the Covent Garden and Soho branches, having used both as a passible lunch or afternoon meeting spot previously. However the one in the City doesn't have a bar, just a large basement space, and a set of tables along one wall, facing out into the main restaurant and occupied entirely by single, middle aged men. Before I realised my mistake it was too late. I'd been identified as one of them and led gently to be deposited in the arctic of solo dining. I'm not sure who was more on show; us or the inane works party we were facing. A works party dinner on a Tuesday night, oh what fun! I won't go into detail, suffice to say that they were definitely having a wilder time than the banquette of solo diners in silent judgement opposite. The menu is generic brasserie, the quality matches, tonight at least. I tried first for a steak hache, before being informed "we can't serve below medium rare I'm afraid..." glad at least that they acknowledge why they're unable to serve that simplest of brasserie dishes served at anything less than a medium rare (you're not allowed to serve at less than medium rare unless it's minced on the premises...), sad because it was all I was looking for. In the absence of home chopped steak I went for the onglet frites, served with a garlic butter and little else. Not bad. The solo diner in me couldn't complain at a single mouthful. Sure it wasn't the best steak i've eaten in my life, but nor was it meant to be. For the price, I could definitely have done with a thicker or more substantial slab. Served with a passible fruity Pinot Noir, it wasn't a bad experience, but the atmosphere leaves something to be desired for the solo diner. read more

I could at this restaurant everyday! I absolutely love the food. Nothing is bland on the menu, which is fantastic. I opted for the sea bass this time round and what a delight! It was perfectly cooked, full of flavour and the beurre au champagne that accompanied the dish was to die for! Amazing dessert too! Highly, highly recommend eating here. Nice but slow service. They have a very traditional menu, with soup d'ognon, foie gras, poulet, and a good selection of wines. That's a very nice area of the city and the restaurant has a nice closed terrace on the square. The kitchen is good but the prices are a little higher than expected, related to the quality of the dishes. read more

The quaint brasserie is located near St Paul's Cathedral and we were drawn in by our rumbling stomachs, the low-priced special advertised till 7pm and the cute setting. What a great choice it was! We missed the special by a few minutes but I do not regret it. We ordered prawns as an appetizer and they were A-mazing! My boyfriend got the steak frites and I got some kind of a cheese-covered seafood dish. Both of these exceeded our expectation. The chocolate fondant was warm and creamy but I have had better. I loved that they filter their own ater and serve it in custom bottles. The service, while absent at the beginning, was quite delightful. Our waiter was funny and friendly and very helpful. My family and I have visited Cote brasserie St. Paul's a week ago. We were absolutely fascinated by the meal. My mom had fish permentier and she says it was a rich dish but extremely pleasant, well balanced, and not leaving feeling of heaviness at all. I had Breton fish stew that I have even asked for a spoon to finish it all to the last drop. We really were very pleased and enjoyed it a lot.
