Once arrived, he was able to identify the problem, which was electrical related, and had the air back on within 30 minutes. He determined that there was no leak of refrigerant at all, but a simple electrical problem. However, he brought back down from the roof, pictures of rust, oil leaks and a few burned-out resistors along with detailed explanations of where things were headed with likely steep replacemet/repair costs in the future. Not only so, but the refrigerant in my a/c unit was no longer a legal replacement in California, should leaks occur there. The motor bearings were becoming noisily worn as well.
