I must admit, I get a bit nervous when I see a company with nothing but amazing reviews on Yelp and/or Google ... could this possibly be true? In the case of C & A Brown it is 100% true. They were awesome! Why? Check this out! Our dyer had been making thumping sounds that had continually gotten worse. Called C & A Brown, talked to Susan, and appointment was made for the next day. She took the dryer model from me, then framed the process, the cost, and likely outcomes. Susan called me the next morning to give me a 2 and half hour window in which a gentleman named Rich would come by to hopefully resolve our problem. Rich shows up right on time. He tells me his suspicions and says he will open up the dryer to confirm. His was in fact correct. He then says he has the parts with him, and he could go ahead and fix the dryer, which he did. Entire process took maybe an hour and a half. To summarize, I called on a Tuesday afternoon, and everything was completed by 11:30 a.m. the following morning. Wow! As it turns out this is a business run by Susan and her husband Rich. They are not representing some large company. They are representing themselves ... and it shows. Rich was on time to check out the oven that stopped working the end of November in our precious 1960's O'Keefe & Merritt stand alone all natural gas stove to see what went wrong after we had been using it for over 25 years (bought used). It is a perfect stove for us and we are heart broken. We were advised that the oven safety valve was finally gone and as far as he knew, there are no replacements. UGH! He did advise on the newer gas, and was soooo sympathetic to our sorrow. The cost was so minimal for what service he provided and his long trip up the peninsula to our homeon such short notice. Do you get anxiety when having to call a repair company because you aren't sure if you are going to get ripped off? Service call rates are high $95-150, just to show up! This doesn't include the repair or the parts or labor. Most reputable companies are charging a service call fee. Time is money. You've got to choose carefully. Call Rich at C&A Brown Company. I called and he was able to come out the next day. My dishwasher wasn't cleaning well. I used jet dry, I cleaned the little holes in the sprayers and I had cleaned the filter, none of it worked, so I had to find someone to check it out. He was on time, he was quick, and the repair was done in 30 min from start to finish! Rich figured out that the inlet valve was clogged or broken, so he replaced it. It was so convenient that he had all of the necessary tools and parts ready to go during his visit. I was able to fix my dishwasher for under $200 and that saved me probably $800-1000 if I had to get a new one. He's been in the business for many years and he is an honest, dependable repairman. She was absolutely despicable and all her focused was to only have me agreed to the labor cost for Someone to come out. What type of business model wouldn't even listen to what the customer needs or wants. This is a family owned and operated small business, and Rich and Susan were clear in their communication, incredibly efficient, reliable, and great value for the service provided. We had been having problems with our Whirlpool Dryer, and Rich actually squeezed us in and came out a few days earlier than we initially scheduled. Electric stovetop burner suddenly stopped working properly. The small burner within the large one would not turn on, thus leaving me with use of only the outer edge of the large burner. Contacted C & A Brown via a recommendation from a friend who has prior repair services performed by the Company. I called and the Receptionist was friendly. Our dishwasher broke. It was a KitchenAid stainless steel which I purchased at Davies Appliance in Redwood City three years ago. After looking on yelp I found C and A Brown appliance repair. Susan took my call and booked a technician for the very next day. Kudos for prompt reply and service. When he came out he properly diagnosed it as a broken motor. Real bummer since the dishwasher cost more than $800. After repeated calls to KitchenAid they refused to help me out saying that the motor had a one-year guarantee. I will never ever buy a KitchenAid appliance again. C & A Brown said they could get a new motor in San Francisco and have it fixed in two days. $400 and change for parts and labor (motor was pricey) but if I had to buy a new dishwasher it would be a Bosch and that would be around $800 so I am very happy with their competence and prompt service. I want to heap praise on this company. Richard is very capable, fast/efficient, and proficient. This past week he repaired my GE stove that needed a replacement electrical starter on one of the burners. He also addressed why my dryer was taking forever to dry the clothes. It turns out the vent was VERY clogged with lint because I had not hired a duct cleaning service in over ten years.... The burners on my 22-year old range finally gave up on igniting. Though they all functioned fairly with the use of a lighter, I decided to have a diagnosis to be safe and help make decision on replacement. Richard came out this morning to service my washing machine. It had quit pumping the water out. He pulled a color catcher sheet out of the pump inlet and suggested that those [and probably other small items] should be put in a small garment bag. He explained how the machine worked (because I asked being a mechanical minded person). He also replaced belts and hoses because I asked, and ordered a part for another symptom I explained.
