One always hopes to have all these qualities in a person who would guide you through NYC's brutal real estate scene. But the emphasis is always on "hope." So I do feel fortunate to have had John make the search an eventual pleasure. He listens and adapts. He knows a very good apartment (in fact, wants to show places he'd live in). He goes out of his way to make a deal happen for you. And perhaps most importantly, his love for Harlem is genuine and his knowledge of its many facets rekindles your own passion for the neighborhood. They push crap on you or they don't know the neighborhood. John is down-to-earth, knowledgeable, and passionate about Harlem. He's also patient and actually takes in what you're telling him about what you want and tries to get it for you. You almost never meet anyone who actually feels like their broker provided them a real service or really fought for them. My highest recommendation. KD - Apr 19, 2011 Excellent service! John made renting an apartment in Manhattan so much fun! Not an easy task, especially in the rain with two jaded rentors. His enthusiasm for Harlem is infectious and besides finding us a place to live, he pointed out all of the great neighborhood amenities. I appreciated his dedication to searching out appartments that not only fit our needs, but were also very high quality in our (very low) price range. I was recommended to John through a friend who had worked with him previously. I hadn't considered Harlem before meeting with him. But after a brief conversation, I immediately had a new attitude towards the hidden gem that is Harlem. John knows Harlem real estate inside and out and worked tirelessly to find the right place for me. I say right because he was upfront and honest with the best listings and helped guide my rental decision based on what was best for me, not what would get him the best commission. I now live in Harlem and love my apartment. I would recommend both the neighborhood and John to anyone looking for a new place to live. If you aren't convinced, just give John a call. The apartment we wanted was perfect in all our search criteria, but the homeowner was abnormally selective and had an application process that was very long and demanding.
