Things I would do differently? - Hire Laura from the start!: We hired Laura mid-way through the planning, after we had selected our venue and hired many of our vendors. I believe we would have saved money had we hired Laura earlier because she knows of so many great vendors, great venues, and knows how to stay on budget. She also has wise advice on how to prioritize spending. - Realize that every wedding has a planner: It took me a few months to realize that my husband and I were acting as our wedding planners... and that just isn't our strong suit! Planning a wedding, or any large event, involves hundreds of details large and small. I would have asked myself: Do I want to do this kind of work?; Do I have time to do this?; Am I organized enough to manage all of these moving parts?; Am I in a position to slow down on work and other life activities so I have the time to plan the wedding of our dreams? - Admit defeat sooner!
