My reason for coming here is that after 32 years in Clarksville, this is the only auto care and repair shop in this city that I trust. Front desk service is exceptionally professional, thorough reports are priced to explain status of systems, and then they discuss with the customer what is really important to have done, advise that some things are close but have time, and most important to me, they tell me what does not have to be done. An example is spark plugs. They will pull them, inspect them, and send a picture showing that they indicate that the engine is firing correctly and most professionally, tell me that they really don't need to be replaced. Another is alignment. They inspect parts and tires and let me know that there really isn't a need. No other shop in this city has ever done this for me and the only other one that is similar is located an hour's drive from here into Kentucky. Come here. Trust reviews that are good, and if there is anything negative, it may be more likely due to someone having a bad hair day when they wrote the review than what they say bad happened during their experience. read more

I don't do many reviews but Just thought I'd share my experience with this POS Mechanic and save other peoples time and money. I bought a car at auction knowing it probably needed a good amount of work. Took it by and an old man, most likely the owner, told me he'd look at it but I needed to correct one of the tires that had the wrong size rim/tire. I did what he asked and dropped it off. Couple hours later I received a call and the old man immediately starting yelling about how I didn't buy all new matching tires like he wanted . He proceeded to speak down to me and stated, "we're not going to be a good fit. Come get your car off my lot." So, unless you're looking for God's imparted blessing of a mechanic to mankind, don't bother with this place. A local friend of mine recommended C & S Auto after having a major engine issue, and they came through 100%! And I didn't even have to step foot inside the building once. Here's what happened: After buying our 10 year old Honda Odyssey in October of 2017, we began having major issues with the engine. It made horrible sounds and after a couple of weeks, it almost shut down completely. A friend recommended them, saying they weren't good to stiff us with a fat, unnecessary bill and would get the job done. I got in contact with them, got a tow, and had them check it out. I received a call from them saying it may be the timing belt, uh-oh. He quoted me a price to open up the van to check it out, and quoted me on a timing belt kit as well. It would have come to close to $1,000. Once he got inside and looked around, he found that it was off by a few ticks and needed the kit. After approving it, it had it done within a day. The total I ended up actually paying was about $730! So thankful for a mechanic who was honest and didn't stick us with a higher than necessary bill. They got the kit on, and even found a minor oil leak. He quoted me on the work for that job, which would end up being approx the same amount as this timing belt job. But that is being saved for a different day as it didn't need to be done right away. The only bummer is that they are closed on weekends! However, I was able to pay over the phone, so the mechanic left the spare key I gave him in the glovebox with a copy of the bill, and parked the van right outside the shop in front of the camera. We were able to pick it up on Saturday and it sounded good-as-new, for a 10 year old van anyways! They had good ol' southern hospitality and manners. I dealt with them 100% on the phone, as I was stuck in the house with morning sickness and 2 kids. They called back immediately and got down to business. I will 100% come back for more work in the future! read more

First of all, I wanto to thank C&S Auto for being one of the extremely few, if not the only one, auto shops that work on foreign and luxury vehicles. Y'all being located in Clarksville has saved me several times from driving all the way to Nashville for a repair trip. Secondly, I want to thank them for not taking advantage of this fact and charging outrageous prices or taking advantage of people's ignorance of vehicles and using scare tactics to make them purchase more or faking problems to create unnecessary work and charging them. Earl and his team of highly skilled and trained mechanics do exactly what they're paid to do-fix car issues and be honest with their advice to their customers. They will be very transparent with their advice while still leaving the decision to you to make the repair or not. I could not speak more highly of this company and its' employees there. I think most people on here who talk bad about this shop have no business owning a high cost vehicle and then get mad at the shop when they can't afford the maintenance because they have zero money management skills. This is completely unfair. If you want a convenient location and a very knowledgeable and courteous, but fair, customer service, this is the shop for you. read more

I'm a mechanic and normally do maintenance on our cars, but when I was deployed, my wife took the car in to C&S for a starter issue and servicing. First, the idiot who reinstalled the filter housing used way too much torque, and I broke my filter housing wrench trying to remove it. Second, the engine cover was not reinstalled. It was just sitting on top of the engine. Third, they charged my wife $1000 to replace a 2009 RAV4 starter, which is about a $500 job. I've ordered a new oil filter wrench and "hope" I will be able to get the filter off when it arrives. Torque specs on the Toyota filter housing is 18 ft/lbs. read more

Not only did they give my car a second look versus the inspection I received somewhere else and give me a no nonsense estimate but they were honest enough to tell me that most of the work was actually related to a previous fender bender that was not repaired properly. They could have taken me for the money like the other place wanted to but they sent me back to my insurance. This was my first visit here but definitely won't be my last. read more

Stopped in to see about getting my car looked at for a headlight problem. The older man I spoke with about my problem was so very rude & harsh. After explaining my situation he goes off telling me without even looking at my car that it would cost me $2000 - $3000 to have it fixed. Because he just worked on one with same issue. I don't know how you stay in business with being disrespectful and unprofessional to customers. I don't care if your the best mechanic in town if you treat customers that way. Quoted 100$ for a basic diagnostic which is a fine price, then when I didn't answer immediately about scheduling an appointment he hung up the phone on me! Im young man who's assertive and I talk with a serious undertone. May have something to do with my military background? Or possibly just how I talk. But to be denied service because I asked when my car is getting returned is unbelievable. The owner speculated I had an attitude and denied me service. In part I felt discriminated against. To me this was definitely an elaborate form of prejudice. Than he tells me the secretary doesn't get paid enough for this. What is this? Dealing with me? I only asked if I had an appointment with no time how was I late. Not questions one would deem extreme. CUSTOMER SERVICE is something that is starting to become obsolete. Dropped a car off there after hours one night and left my business card in the wiper of the car for them to call so I can tell them that I needed an alignment. Next day, they contacted me and told me they did not have availability for their alignment rack and their next availability would be exactly 7 days later. I told Doyle (Owner) that was fine, but then he said he didn't have room on his lot for it to wait. I had the feeling since he did not offer to make an appointment that he was too good for my business. Exactly 1 week later, I failed to act on getting the car off his lot, and I get a call from them saying they were going to charge storage fees. I asked them how come they won't offer to make an appointment and they only insisted they didn't have room on their lot for my car and when I get it then we can talk about an appointment. I spoke with Doyle once again to confirm that this is the service he intends to offer to a customer that clearly wants to do business with him, and while saying this wasn't what he intended to do, and he wanted to work on the car, he only further justified not making an appointment because I "Dropped the car off in the rain and he had to piece the business card together to get my information and I told him I was going to come get it and didn't so that's why he hadn't offered to make an appointment".
