As an ex-employee. I myself will be contacting the Labor board and the Better Business Bureau. They are as crooked as they come. I've been doing Towing for 14 years. This is the most crooked company I've ever worked for. I bought a vehicle from them for $2,500. With in 3 months of having the vehicle. The radiator cracked and the transmission is now slipping. When I left they held my two week check from when I first started. Plus refused to pay me for 47 hrs For the 4 days i worked.That comes to $658. All the bad reviews are absolutely right. As i am a witness. To there very unprofessional business practice. Don't take your car there you will get ripped off!! I worked there for 4 months. Till I saw their true colors and how they run their business and I left. If you see them pull up. Request another company... If you go 5 miles you will be charged for at least 8 miles... I had called other tow truck companies in the area and it should have only cost me 150$ but when I told them this they could care less. I used them a few times! They had a great mechanic that is no longer there. They damaged my car antenna! When I bought it to the attention of the owner Chris Weaver he tried to make me fell stupid for saying that his guys had did this. I used him for two cars! My money spends at any shop and I stopped using this repair shop and now I use Rudy and Viktor! They are awesome! I had my car towed last year by C and T and the drivers was rude! After waiting for hours he came and was a bit put out since I was going to different repair shop! So when I use AAA is this area I ask the to send a different shop! 1st review: 2/16/2014: Terrible experience - wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. To sum up our experience, in 30 degree weather a man who said his name was Joe from C & T Towing showed up and left. He left us after we'd been waiting for over 2 hrs for him to show up (we patiently waited the hr he said it would take). He left me (a 6 mo pregnant woman) with her 9 mo old sick son in the parking lot b/c he preferred smoking his cigarette and claiming he was on time. Such a shady place. Don't waste your time. Better off just waiting for a legit company. I really wish I would've read the previous reviews of this place. They are terrible - just as mine was. I've reported their actions to Volvo (their roadside assistance dispatched them). Hopefully something will be done on that end. Update 4/2014. We had to get our car towed again (this time not our fault / transmission issues). We were lucky enough to have C&T Towing again (she says sarcastically). My husband said that the person that showed up was timely and considerate -- basically the exact opposite of our previous experience. As the saying goes, one bad apple can spoil the entire bunch. The starter on my car failed. I called road service through my insurance company who contacted C&T Towing. I recieved a text that the ETA was 11:20am. At 12:00pm I called to see what the hold up was and was told he would be there in 25 minutes. At 1pm I called again and was told he was in Avenel and on his way. At 2pm I called and was told he was stuck in traffic. The truck showed up at 3:20 and the driver showed me that he didn't get the request till 12:40pm. This towing company is an extortion ring. I pulled into the driveway of my building to unload a few groceries onto the front lawn in front of my apartment. Myself, my husband and two young children were literally standing on the lawn beside the car unloading groceries when a c&t tow truck pulled in and hooked our car right in front of us. We were screaming and banging on the window while the driver ignored us. He then came out and told us that we had 5 minutes to give him $100 cash or he would tow. We immediately called the police and they came right away. He claimed he was hired by the building to patrol the parking lot and argued that we had to give him the $ but eventually he relented and left. I hope that C&T is eventually exposed. read more

I had to have my car towed in January. I went through the roadside assistance with my car insurance and C&T is what I ended up with. Apparently it was a blown motor and I decided to let them fix it as I didn't have the funds to have it towed elsewhere at the moment. What a big mistake that was!! So they replaced my blown motor which apparently is an issue with my type of car which I told them and specifically said so this won't happen again, right? As these motors have an oil consumption problem? No, no no it will be fine. Lo and behold, motor is leaking oil in to motor #2 that they replace under their warranty and guess what? Yup same thing. So now they say that the warranty started from day 1 of first motor and doesn't restart with the second one and that it's a junkyard motor after we were told it was not. They are crooks and just want your money. 5k down the drain as far as I'm concerned and now have to spend even more to get a reputable mechanic to actually fix it now. read more

This business scammed me out of a transmission. After the first trans they put in it failed six months later, they rebuilt it again (after first trying to tell us there was nothing wrong with it), and four months after that, I got stranded on vacation in Virginia because all the wires their trans guy left hanging during the job burnt onto my exhaust and shorted out my starter. I have a letter from two ASE-certified mechanics, including one from the Chevy dealership I was forced to take it to in Virginia after no one else could figure out what was wrong with it, stating that the cause of the work they had to do was the hanging wires and other mistakes made by this trans guy. When we called C&T, they put us in contact with the guy that did the work and told him what happened, and he literally laughed at us, swore at us, and hung up on us, after refusing to take any responsibility. I wish there were an option for negative 0 stars! From the driver to the office staff, these people are crooks! I used their tow service via my insurance company. The driver followed behind me to my mechanic. He intentionally drove way under the speed limit In an attempt to lose me. My teen son, who rode in his truck, said he talked on his cell the whole time and used all kinds of fowl language in addition to complaining to my son about being annoyed about me requesting he follow me. I did so because my route was 3.9 miles well within what's covered by my insurance. Due to his driving shenanigans, i had to switch my route. This added almost 3 miles to my route. Im the end, my GPS clocked 6.6 miles. He claimed his said more than 10 miles. I complained to the company and those crooks backed him up though I could offer proof that even the longest route was nowhere near 10 plus miles. He gave me no receipt, demanded cash rather than a card that I could've used for a receipt, and even with knowledge of this, the tow company backed him up. I've filed a complaint with my insurance company, and the BBB. It's not the 42.50 it's the principal. I had no prior knowledge of the unethical practices of this tow company and this drive who identified himself as "Chris" which I suspect was a lie. But you now know. As in the prior reviews I also had this company attempt to tow my car from a spot at Duncan Hill apartments in Westfield. The car was not even in a reserved spot but in a spot for "Future Residents". It was night and the office wasn't even opened so the spots weren't going to be used. Fortunately we were there when he attempted to tow it. He claimed if he called the office it would cost $100.00 to release the vehicle but if I gave him $ 50.00 cash he would "let it slide". So I'm out $ 50.00 but I have my vehicle. I did some research and found the New Jersey Predatory Towing Prevention Act, which details how these companies must operate. It said that the apartment manager or his proxy must make a call to the towing company in order to tow a car. I checked with the manager and no such call was made. He advised me that other similar complaints have been coming in and advised me to contact the New Jersey Department of Consumer Affairs who will investigate the claim. I just lodged a complaint and will follow up when I hear something. On a Saturday night my fiance's brother had parked in a future resident parking of our apartment complex, which is frequently done as the complex has no visitor parking. At around 10pm we found the car had been towed and it was by C&T towing. We called but no one answered the phone. We had to wait until the next morning to reach someone and spoke to a woman who was extremely crude and continued to insult my fiance as the woman insisted that the towing company was closed today, even though they towed the car late last night! After several rude phone calls, the C&T towing company agreed to allow us to pick the car up. When my fiance arrived, the tow was supposed to cost $175, but they forcefully charged $330 dollars and insisted it be paid in cash. When the car arrived, we found the front bumper had been damaged with a large indentation, white scratches and a crack indicative of malfeasance by the towing company. The police were called and the situation explained in detail to file a claim. Do not use this towing company. read more

i can only speak of the service that I experienced today. Being a women it is not easy to find a trust worthy mechanic. Finding CT, with no exaggeration was like finding a diamond amongst coal. Never have I experienced such honesty from a mechanic. sad, yet true. Chris and C&T mechanics were so pleasant and generally concerned with my vehicle and my safety. what I'm about to say is accurate and true. while looking for the noise that my car was making Chris noticed my inspection sticker had expired. he voluntarily put my car on his machine that resembled a heart monitor, he then said he was getting my car up to code so that i may then go and have my inspection taken care of, he explained this is most important right now for a ticket could be very costly and that is money that would be better served for making necessary repairs. UGH I thought ,how much is this going to cost. 15 min later I'm being told to get in the car it needed to be driven around to complete the process of registering codes, Although, I went along with it, I had no idea what he was saying, all I knew was I was about to go on a 40 min ride, somehow this was going to get me through inspection, ok, I thought to myself as the sound of the registered continue to ring in my head. while driving, Chris began to bust with excitement as he blurted you have one code. that was the first 100.00 I thought to myself, then he yelled another one. what is this man talking about as I calculated the next 100 dollars in my head. curious I thought let me ask how many 100 of dollars, oops I mean codes I will need, abruptly he stated with excitment 3 more. well, I thought beans and rice it is for next few weeks. after 20min Chris car heart monitor started to lose its power and he said we would need to go back to the shop to pick up a second one. No problem, as we are driving back he's blurting with excitement theres another code, I quickly took the beans out of my diet for the next few weeks, they can be costly I thought to myself. just as we approached the shop Chris yells, turn around go to DMV you just passed inspection, judging by his excitement, i thought it best to just do what he said, as I made my turn in the middle of the street and darted to the closest DMV.. I hand my documents to the inspector and get out the car. Chris chose to stay in the car, while the inspection was being done. within a few min I heard someone yelling. Paying no mind to the yelling as it continued I decided to look back, it was the inspector. My car had passed inspection just as Chris promised it would. As he sat there humbly with his heart monitor in hand, even the inspector couldn't help but to be impressed with him.. last night before going to bed I said to myself " tomorrow is going to be a great day' I remembered those words as Chris turned to me and said 'No charge" Btw- The estimate on the repair was the lowest of all estimates.. The towing truck was more than 90 minutes late than the time they were supposed to be there. and their company is only 5 minutes away from my car. They did it on purpose b/C by the time they got to my car, all other auto shop close by are closed so I had to let my car go to their shop. Also they called me and told me over the phone that the total cost of the parts and labor is $x. so I agreed to let them fix my car. Well i took my car there for the same issue two times and the issue still existed. On the third attempt, I was told I would need another $2,000 repair! I didn't have the funds so they charged me for a week of storage? Yes that's right, charged me a week storage as the diagnose my issue for the third time. Since I did not have storage fee's my car was kept and I was forced to use public transportation for a year until I was able to purchase another car. LOL I would never recommend them at all. this is the worst place I have ever been. he simply cheated me. I had an accident and my insurance company refered this towing company to tow my car. I was suppoed to get my car towed to Pepboys in Jersy City for repair but this guy told me that he can do it for cheap at C&T at Rahway. In the accident my left rear rim got bent and my left Control arm got bent. This guy told me that he can do this in one day and for cheap, he charged be 318 $ for fixing everything. Later in the evening when I took my car home I found that he put my left rear rim on the right side and right rear rim which was good on the left. also he heated my left Control arm and made them some how straight, also he somehow fixed my broken rim and painted it so I doesnt come to now. I drove from Rahway to Pennsville alomost 110 miles with misalligned Rim and damaged Control arm. fourunatley nothing happened to me. But i could hear some noise in the back side of my vehical, I knew something was wrong. Then I went to another meachinic and he told me that my right rim was bent and the C & T meachinic somehow made it fit my tires, also my contral arms were not in good shape. The C&T towing company charged me for new rim and control arms which they didnt replace and cheated me. I had to pay again 850 $ to get everything fixed in Pennsville. This is the worst place and are the worst people who take advantage of your situation. Please dont go to this place. read more

I did not have a good experience with C and T for auto repairs. I had my car towed to them, because it would not start. $1700 dollars in repairs later and I pick my car up on a friday. The next day my car starts hesitating and the engine light starts to come on. I bring the car back to them on Monday, when they were open, and they tell me...oops sorry your engine is shot. They ran a diagnostic, how in the world did they not see this issue one day prior. I may have needed the repairs that they did charge me for, but at then end of the day i spent $1700 dollars and still could not drive my car. I don't know if they swindled me or are just sucky mechanics. Do yourself a favor and go to another mechanic that can tell you exactly what is wrong with your car and not fix things that will not allow your car to be driveable. You can also check their rating on the better business bureau s website. They have an F rating. They have unanswered complaints, which means they didn t even care enough to try and resolve any issues. I wish I would have checked out the sight before I did business with them. Horrible! read more
