Had the pleasure of walking into Sport's Connection and being charged $25 for a "new membership…read morefee" according to the bouncer, Ray. I had no issue with this at all, went to the ATM to get the required funds and came back. I had my homie who was already inside to meet up with me so we could get clarification on the price of the membership. I noticed a guy who was already seated at the bar hold his hand up toward me to indicate the price he paid was $5 not $25. Regardless the bouncer told me that if I caused any problems he'd quote: "run my ass out". He then agreed to lower the price back down to the original price of $5, and informed me that the future cost of new memberships is $25. He handed me the clipboard to sign up, but I let him know I wasn't there to cause any problems, humbly thanked him for his cooperation and left instead of paying or signing up for anything. Despite me leaving without causing any trouble, and even thanking the bouncer, Ray for his cooperation, my homie let me know that upon me leaving Ray said "he was tired of niggas coming in and startin sh*t." Hmmm.... Pretty sure I'll never step foot in Sport's Connection in Hamlet, NC. Lesson learned

In short, no matter what wine you get, you can't go wrong. This is a beautiful property. We visited during COVID-19, so masks were required for ages 3+ and they did round and kindly and respectfully ask everyone to "please pull up your mask". They sanitized many times during our visit (at least once an hour) with a backpack Lysol sprayer. Tickets are $8, and they do offer a military discount ($2 off). They do charge for ages 1 and above. We visited on a Saturday and it was surprisingly and wonderfully quiet and spacious, probably only 40max visitors during our visit.

The museum is a charming slice of local history, giving you a glimpse into Hamlet's bustling railroad days when more than 30 trains used to stop there daily. Inside, you'll find all kinds of historical artifacts--from old telephones and Morse code equipment to a metal wheelbarrow once used for maintaining the tracks. There's even a building next door with more railroad memorabilia, and across the street, you can explore a replica steam train known as the "Tornado," which is a fun nod to North Carolina's railroading past. Best part? It's free to visit, and they welcome donations. So if you're passing through, it's definitely worth a stop to stretch your legs and soak up a bit of history.

I was pleased with the menu choices and the cleanliness at the bar. This restaurant is one of the best in this small town which is located between the towns of Laurinburg, NC and Bennettsville, SC. The customer service was great as well, and I would definitely recommend the restaurant to others who enjoy a comfortable and friendly atmosphere! The decor is also phenomenal with guitars and posters on the wall from various locations the owner has frequented. I rate this place as one of the very best in the town.
