I brought my 200w Lexus LS 400 in because when the car was cold it would only back up so far before ot stopped, actually idled backward very slowy but when it was warm everything is fine...Bobby ran diagnostics and said it was an engine performance issue, took it to my guy, he ran his diagnostic, came up with a misfire on 6, throttle body was dirty, and transmission fluid was BURNED...took it back to Bobby, told him the results, asked for a flush and fill and he started arguing about it...tried to overpower me with diagrams which I handed back and asked to just do his job. I brought my car in to have the transmission and rear end fluid changed, clean the gears, and change the filter, That was All. I brought my Classic 1977 Pontiac Firebird that I had been restoring for several years, to CJ's Transmission of Dunnellon Florida for a simple fluid change. I talked to Bobbi at CJ's and he was very polite when I called about a special they were running on transmission servicing, I told him I wanted the fluid drained in the transmission and the rear end, the gears cleaned and to replace it with new fluid and a filter, That was IT. After having it dropped off, I had shook hands with Bobbi and asked him to call when it was done. I received a call not long after saying the car ran out of gas, so I brought 5 gallons down and started the car. Bobbi had told me I was going to need to leave a deposit before he heard it run, Then he commented on how well it ran and said don't worry about it. Then I got a call saying I needed to bring a new battery because it died during a test drive, I said "you didn't need to drive it, I told you what I wanted done", and brought a new battery down when he told me it was getting no spark. When I got there, I was told they removed the Distributor trying to see why it wasn't getting spark, Nothing Below the Cap has Anything to do with any electric contact! Mind you I had not given Any Authorization for this work to be done. I had the car running Perfect using a Dwell meter and timing light I grew up using with my Dad. My neighbors All heard how Great it ran, one that Builds cars said "that runs like a brand new car!" No shimmy idling, no smoke, just purred like a kitten. Until you stepped on the gas, it would rev from 0 to 60000 rpms with no hesitation or popping. All I needed after putting $6500+ into tires, brakes, A/C completely new front to back, shocks Etc... I have all my receipts. The mechanics at Georges Tire in Beverly hills were Amazed at how good of a condition it was in exclaiming, The Original Paint is Still on the undercarriage of the car! Bobbi told me they put the Used distributor from the back seat in it!!! I Did Not Authorize Any Other Work than what I had stated previously! They had my car for Months trying to fix what they did after putting the distributor in Wrong, and all I kept hearing was I owed them for the tow bill. I tried to be as nice as possible being More than patient with them, just wanting my car back to the point I had it when it was dropped off. The tow-truck driver, that was the same one that picked it up, said to me when we got to my house, "what happened, it ran Great when I picked it up!" The day I picked it up it was rainy, so I put the cover on and left it until I had time to regroup my thoughts. When I opened the hood, I put the charger on the battery, that hadn't been replaced with the new one, and tried to start it. My ground wire started Smoking so I stopped. I started looking into my motor and saw where the Distributor Wasn't Even Bolted Down, Spark plug wires that weren't connected, and my carburetor was locked up because the cover was put on the wrong way. Never in my Life have I dealt with such ill regard for someones personal property. I've done jewelry repair throughout my life and treated a $5 ring the same as a $50,000 dollar one out of Respect for someone else's belongings. This car was 85% restored, I have new seats and minor cosmetic trims to put back on, the transmission and rear end was the Only thing I wanted taken care of before I put it on the road. Please send me an e-mail so I may show you pictures, it's Beautiful, but now it no longer runs. They also crushed the chrome trim around the front tire, that I can also show in pictures. Your Desired Resolution: I was going to try to fix whatever they had done, but after Seeing the incompetence and disregard for Any professionalism towards my Classic 1977 Antique Car I feel the need to have them pay a professional mechanic to diagnose and repair whatever it was that they had done, and left undone. read more

I recently had the transmission in my 85 CJ-7 fail. I took the vehicle to a shop in Floral City who took the vehicle apart (way beyond what was necessary) who told me that the transmission was bad and that they could not fix it. Long story short, I ended up taking the parts and pieces to CJ's, they ordered a refurbished transmission and reassembled the entire thing for a very reasonable price. BEWARE!! Had a Chevy 2500 4l80e rebuilt here for $4800. Was told by Bobby and the tech that everything inside the transmission except the gears was replaced. 8 months, 25k miles later, it's hard shifting and not shifting (same issue it got rebuilt for). Bobby extended his warranty to cover the solenoids that they "didn't think needed to be replaced. In the process, they swapped the rubber pan gasket for a paper one. First day I had it back it left half a qt of transmission fluid in the driveway (no leaks before repairs were done). Bobby who self admittedly knows nothing about transmissions swears that this substantial leak is fluid leaking through the wires on an electrical connector. His estimate was another $800. I showed him the fluid all around the pan gasket but apparently I'm an idiot. This situation was handled extremely unprofessionally and I have to take the truck somewhere else for something that I was told was already done. Bobby told me I didn't know anything about transmissions and in the next breath told me that all the parts that were replaced are listed on the invoice. You just said I do not know what those parts are... I also have an f150 4r70w that was rebuilt by CJs for $5200. 10 months later, 2500 miles, it's not shifting, won't drive in drive, can't find 1st gear. Bobby told me to go screw myself because he won't even look at it. Save yourself from spending $10,000 on crap. I could have bought 3 BRAND NEW transmissions and had them installed for less. These people quoted us a price of $69.95 for diagnostic and a price of 500 to 600 to repair once they found the problem. 3 weeks later, after taking the truck apart, they now cant get the part, its on backorder. Now they want $190 for the diagnostic if we pick it up as is, $341 to pick it up if they put it back together without fixing it or $746 to complete the repairs. Also, they wanted us to come in and and put a deposit on the part that was on back order. $246. I asked how much is the part, he said $246 so i said then you want us to pay for the part in advance. he said no, just a deposit. I ended up going to get it, paid the thieves $190 to get it and get the keys and Bobby stood there and lied to me the whole time. I had it towed to Brooksville Transmission today and he will have it done by tomorrow. Cost an extra $200 over what they would have charged (including towing) but well worth it. Avoid this place like the plague. They are liars and thieves. Bobby even tried to show me an authorization for the 746 dollar charge and it was a lie. He wrote it up himself. I took my truck to mechanic in Crystal River, a well known place because my truck was not going into overdrive. They told me that after scanning it on the computer gear 1 and 4 were gone and I would need a complete rebuild of my transmission for $1,840.00 I picked it up and started calling places to price a rebuild, CJ's was my second call. He quickly asked me what the scan read and I told him. While on the phone with me he said, " Hon, you might not need a rebuild, just seliniod 1-2 replaced but I won't know until I scan it and drop the pan. I took the truck to his shop. He was correct and my truck was back to running perfect within hours for the price of $207.00 to replace both the seliniods. CJ saved me from being raped of $ 1633.00 !!!!!
