From the beginning, he was very forceful in pushing us to sign the contract and pay upfront. Once the job started, he was almost never at the site, leaving workers unattended. He took it upon himself to do more demolition than expected, leaving our home torn apart and in an unlivable condition, then pushed for additional work and more money. He is a smooth talker and uses that to get out of situations where he doesn't want to tell the truth. What was said verbally did not match what actually happened. He did not provide a proper itemized list, and what was eventually given did not match the price outlined in the contract. His pricing and actions were inconsistent, and the work that was done was incomplete and handled irresponsibly. We ultimately had to terminate the contract because we did not feel comfortable continuing with him. Despite paying around $21,000 for only a few days of work, we were left with no choice but to move forward on our own and finish the kitchen with a different company. We were left with exposed walls, insulation, and unfinished work, while being asked to pay significant amounts that did not reflect the actual progress. We have filed with Consumer Affairs and are currently seeking counsel to recover the lost funds for the work not completed. Based on our independent findings, the entity we contracted with does not appear to have jurisdiction to perform construction work in Nassau County, and instead only holds a landscaping license under Nassau County. She told him "no not doing this" and hung up on him. Later, while checking the outdoor camera, I can hear her telling her staff "she told me to hold on because she has to call her fiancée because she doesn't want to do it HERSELF". They left prior to my fiancée calling, and left the gates wide open. I understand that cleaning our dog's droppings are our responsibility, however I expected the owner to address this issue with a bit more professionalism and empathy. Not even a "hi how are you. I'm so and so from such and such company". I'm not sure if she expected my dog to use the toilet instead of the yard for her business or if she expected me to lock my kid and my dog in a cage to run outside to scoop up a few droppings of poop.
