What an absolute joke of a company. Please read the screenshots attached. The owner kept making excuses about why he couldn't keep promises or plans, couldn't get the color correct although he stated "I wrote everything down" When I confronted him about not being happy he threatened me called me a "little boy" and he "wished he'd seen me outside" I spoke to the supplier, who stated he's done this more than once. I made a police report regarding his verbal threats to me and my mother. He continued saying "hang up the phone I'll kick your ass right now" when I hung up, he verbally continued to threaten physical harm but refused to speak or actually approach, idle threats. He's an absolute joke, nothing but a salesman with a bad attitude, every serious question we had was followed up with "I'm the best" "I've been in business for 20+ years" and a ridiculous display of photos from a book that weren't even close to what we were discussing. It was a hand selected proof of narcissistic display of his ego. James lost two jobs mine and my parents house and his exact words were "you think I give a fuck about these two" A clear indication of how he feels about "customers" If you read the plenty of one star reviews on both Google and Yelp, they have a consistent pattern of excuses, unkept promises and a poor attitude. If you check out all of my reviews you'll notice that when a business does right I'm quick to compliment and praise. My messages to the owner (James) and my patter of praise when deserved will solidify that I do not write reviews to hurt genuine businesses as James said I would do while threatening to physical assault me. My evidentiary proof and pattern of honest reviews will speak for themselves. I have never ever called the police on a business owners actions. This is certainly a first and should scream red flags to anyone considering work with James. read more

I cannot speak higher of James Scanapico and his crew at Scanapico Bros. Landscaping and Masonry. Scanapico ripped out my old patio and stoop and installed a new one with focus, diligence, efficiency, and craftsmanship. From start to finish, James was always available, reachable, and returned all my calls promptly. He never belittled my concerns or requests, or made me feel like I was an annoyance (though I'm sure I was!). James arrived on site the day of the estimate on-time, walked the property, and listened to my ideas and design plan. He drew up a quote, a quote that was much more competitive than all the others I had received for less square footage. His men arrived the day he said they would, and completed the very large job in two days. Scanapico is in very high demand, so be patient and be prepared to wait a bit until your job is tended to, but this is because Scanapico does a great job, gets it done, and many people have him booked. James will keep you updated though and always follows through. James is a stand up guy who honors his word and whose values and approach to customer service is exemplary. For such a large project, you worry that the company may not have the trucks, machinery, expertise, and adequate number of workers, but this was not the case with Scanapico. The whole installation process was like a well-oiled machine. Scanapico does not do railings, but he was able to recommend to me a solid, dependable railing company who installed a core-drilled powder coated aluminum railing on the stoop that was installed. They did a wonderful job cleaning up and leaving my property looking absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend Scanapico Bros for any masonry project(s) you may have. You won't regret it! read more

Got an estimate to replace my driveway back in May of 2021. Series of delays including not being able to get the pavers in. Multiple phone calls and empty promises to start next week, end of the month etc. fast forward to now and still no drive way. Stay away from this place for patio work! The owner James is forgetful and full of excuses. Came to our house March 16th, quoted us out, we agreed, contract drawn up. Two weeks later we get put on the schedule for May 7th. We call May 4th to confirm the schedule, and were told the pavers are on back order (sure they are!). Call back numerous times with no call backs for 2 weeks. We get through, and were told pavers are in and call them back on the 24th, to see if they are still on schedule and for us to be put on for the following week. We call back on the 24th, and told we have to call back again the following week to do the same thing. Full of excuses and a complete bull sh*tter. Stay away. Poor customer service, they don't call customers, they make you call them. If you leave a message you don't get a call back. If you ring them and don't leave a message you get a call back within minutes from James saying Someone called me from this number? Screens calls! We have moved on. Highly disgusted with this company, first incident was last summer while my girlfriend was at mikes super citgo on sunrise in west Babylon and the landscapers were out side and as she walked in they proceeded to stare her down and cat call her and made her feel super uncomfortable.... second incident was last night as i was coming home from work one of the scanapico trucks just decided to make a u-turn in the middle of traffic at 6pm so i went around him and he honked and screamed at me "ASSHOLE", just disgusted how how this company even has customers. Ronnie lied to me and scammed me. Paid thousands for an extensive project to revamp a dead lawn, 2500 sq ft and he promised me sod-cutting and fresh "finely screen topsoil, only the best" to start the new lawn. Didn't use a sod-cuting machine then argued about it with me. Put down topsoil unevenly and after first rain nothing but sand and rocks, how is that "finely screened" these guys are the WORST, block driveways, give excuses, then have the audacity to tell me that my "business" is nothing to them and that i shouldn't be complaining about what i paid them because its peanuts compared to their other business. They couldn't even cut the lawn properly, they blew leaves and grass clippings into the flowerbeds like i wouldn't notice. STAY FAR AWAY. WORST. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Unfortunately that's not an option. We met with James on March 31st for a quote on pavers for our yard. He seemed like an honest man so we chose to go with him. We went to his showroom on April 1st to choose pavers and set up a date. He asked us to call him back at the end of April for a start date. He assured us we'd be done before Memorial Day. Told us to plan a nice Memorial Day bbq. We called and he told us there were absolutely no pavers available And to call back mid May and he definitely get us done for early June but mid June tops. Nothing. He finally calls me and tells me our pavers are on their way. Pavers were delivered June 28th. He then said we should be good by the second week of July... tops!!! He told us several times he'd pass by to see the pavers and be sure we had everything. No show. All of July I called and texted. Why should I, the paying customer, have to hound someone? Fast forward to August 2nd. He promises he'll come by Aug 4th or 5th. He tells me hes busy so to please be sure someone is home. We stayed home both days. 5pm on the 5th I call him and he in a very nasty tone tells me he doesn't have time for this and he'll be by the next day. I politely said- "im sorry, James. That's not going to work. You've been very unprofessional and have left me waiting on several occasions and it's ridiculous already." Very nastily he says, "ok, whatever, you want me to get my pavers? I'll get my pavers out of there." That's how you speak to a customer who you've had waiting since MARCH? I had been super polite and understanding during this whole period of waiting. I was dumbfounded that he was so rude and unprofessional. I immediately asked him to take his bricks out of my home. By the silence on his end you could tell he did not expect me to cancel the job. An absolutely terrible businessman. Save yourself the hassle and choose someone else. We dodged a bullet. The weirdest experience ever with this company. I used them last year everything was fine this year out of nowhere they don't show up to cut my lawn. I text them asking why they haven't cut my lawn this week . The owner replies that one of his workers cut his finger off. (Which btw is absolutely terrible ) I told him wow I'm so sorry to hear that i understand. Well now its the next week and still no cut lawn. My lawn now looks like a disaster . I text him again. Gave one star because I couldn't give zero. Brand new service, first time out for them. Service requested was lawn service and weeding of flower beds. They did cut and edge the grass. The flower beds in the rear were already done by me. They never tended to the beds in the front of the house which had minimal weeding. There were dropping from the lawn mower in the driveway which could have been blown away, as well as caked grass clumps left from the mower on the grass. When I called to discuss it the owner Ronnie had an attitude and was rude. He stated they weeded a thin strip that runs along the driveway and that I shouldn't expect everything to be done the first time. I didn't see him offer progressive pricing based on they work that was done. Poor attitude, poor businessman. I cancelled their service. I have never been so fooled!! James seemed like the greatest business man . We chose him over 3 other contractors because we truly believed that he would take care of us. We received an estimate for a large patio and walkway in our backyard , back in May. He told us he was very busy and would get us in by early July. Then July rolled around and he actually came by to tell us that he could not get the materials in due to Covid and said he would get the job done in August for certain. We were disappointed but understood. 2nd week of August comes around and I had to call him to follow up. He gave me a disrespectful response telling me he would get me in on August 31st- am I supposed to be happy that he would get me in on the very last day of the month??? He just said that to appease me. Well, the end of the story is , we never heard from James again. He had no intention of doing our job or completely forgot!!! Do not use them! I called to make an appointment. The person I spoke to said that he would be in my neighborhood the following Tuesday. We agreed to a specific time to meet me at my property, where I requested an estimate for the replacement of my driveway. I took off from work in order to have this appointment - no one ever showed up. When I called to ask why Scanapico Brothers did not keep their word and make the appointment, the person who answered changed his story and said he was not planning to be in my neighborhood on Tuesday, that he only planned to let me know on Tuesday when he would be in my neighborhood. He then told me that he would call me two days later on Thursday to arrange a new date. I was not holding my breath, and rightfully so - no one ever called back. We recently had a large patio laid by the masonry and blacktop division of Scanapico Landscaping. I cant say enough wonderful things about their work. They scheduled me as soon as possible, very quickly created a beautiful 15x30ft patio using nicolock pavers in a herringbone design, and cleaned up so well you wouldn't have known they were ever here! They even took down and reset my PVC gate. Stress free ordeal from start to finish. Will definitely be using them again in the future. read more
