I've used the CAA service that does a tire change in your driveway for several years. Previously, this was provided by EasyTire, this year it was Professional Towing Services. The technician showed me a piece of paper that said there was a 4% surcharge for using a credit card - that was not on the CAA web site and I did not agree to a surcharge when I booked. He wrote the tire location on the sidewalls instead of the tread - I had just washed the tires the previous day so they would be put away clean. He started to put summer tires on the wrong wheel and tried to convince me it was okay. He didn't know what TPMS meant and said the warning light didn't need to be reset - the light is still on. I had to call 4 times to get them to send an invoice. Unimpressed. I will be not be renewing my CAA membership this fall. read more

Byer Beware CAA towing drivers misleading Mechanics and costing allot of money, On that day we waited 3 1/2 in the cold for CAA they add no remorse for the suffering in the cold The CAA towing driver told the mechanic at the shop we had the car towed to that it needed a new engine--without ever diagnosing the problem. The car wasn't even started, so there was no way he could know that. I don't understand how he could make such a claim to a complete stranger. We simply had the car towed to a garage, and instead we were met with false and misleading statements. I believe the CAA towing driver acted unprofessionally, and I have two witnesses to support what happened. Worst company ever. The towing driver diagnosed my car as having a blown motor and sent it straight to a mechanic shop. We didn't even start the car in front of him. They tried to take advantage of the customer. When I complained to CAA, they canceled my card instead of resolving the issue. CAA Ottawa staff are very ignorant. The supervisor in charge of the towing company even called and admitted that what the driver told the mechanic was wrong. CAA towing drivers are not supposed to diagnose vehicles -- they are not mechanics and have no mechanical experience. CAA also makes customers wait for hours for no reason, pretending they are busy while leaving people waiting for a tow. Buyer beware. I have home insurance with CAA and have had for about 5 years. I moved my policy thinking they had some advantages including a slightly lower rate for our car insurance. Ibrought them both of our policies and I went to them directly. I now have my second claim, ever... since owning a house for over 40 years. We have a had a house flood due to the heavy rain that has hit Ottawa this Canada Day 2026. I started calling at 7pm. I was on hold for about 2 hours, the projected wait times went up and down. Finally when there was just a few minutes remaining I realized I could no longer hear the message. The call had ended and I thought I'd missed the agent. (We were trying to set up a sump pump at that time). So... I called again... again waited over 2 hours and just when it said I had 7 minutes remaining, dead silence for about a minute and then click. I realize now I was much better off with TD Insurance. read more

I have a CAA Membership and I took my son for passport photos thinking CAA membership will get me a discount. I learned that there are no discounts, I drove 25 minutes from Barrhaven to the CAA office and I could have gone to Shoppers Drugmart and paid the same $19.99 with tax $22.59. Same Price as Shoppers. I think it is more economical at Walmart. I also learned that light colours are not good to wear so my son put a jacket on to take a picture and he hates it. read more

I needed a photo for visas to go to Southeast Asia. I called this branch this morning to see if they could do such photos and was put on hold. While on hold, I finished my breakfast, showered, got dressed, and drove to CAA. I was still on hold on my cell phone. I brought this to the attention of staff and although polite, they suggested that if I wish to get in touch with them, the best thing to do would be to come over and not to call. I honestly don't even know if this is the office that dispatched someone to help me with a dead battery last evening but I do want to take a minute to say thank you to the guy who arrived with some good advice and ensured my car battery was charged and ready to go for work today. CAA is a gift I receive for christmas yearly from my step mom and I'm always happy to receive it. I have to admit that I seldom go to this end of the city. There are CAA outlets closer to home and to work, so I would not usually need to go to this location. However, the CAA was advertising 1-hour talks on a variety of topics, in a variety of cities in north and central Ontario, and one of them really intrigued me: it was a discussion of the Rocky Mountaineer, the train trip that goes through the mountains between Alberta and British Columbia. That's a trip that has been on my bucket list only forever! So we went here for the talk. They had a speaker who gave us each a brochure, he offered a slide show of videos and pictures taken from the train, and they talked about the different services that the Mountaineer offers. It's all very enticing! It's like a cruise, because the costs also include the hotels. YES - hotels! It's not a very long ride (I have recently been from the Alberta side to Kamloops through the mountains, which took 10 hours a beautiful trip! But this did not bring us near water, and we did not see much wild life. But we were so close to the mountains!) they go for a bit, take their time, and stop at certain very inviting junctures and you stay in a hotel (often but not necessarily a Fairmont), and they bring your bags up to your room. You have breakfast and lunch on the train; these meals are prepared by chefs that are actually preparing the food on the train... Ok, you get the picture! Let me know when you book your trip; I might just book at the same time! The presentation was well set up; there were about 35 guests, and the organizers offered beverages and light snacks. They greeted us at the door and were very pleasant. It would be my pleasure do do business with this CAA outlet. PS: If you are a member of the CAA, there are benefits that go with it when you book this trip - like bonus meals etc. CAA membership also gives discounts at a variety of places, like Capital Cruises, East Side Mario's, and you can purchase tickets for different places - like Landmark Theatres (a couple of years ago, I got tickets for Calypso Theme Park). I received excellent assistance yesterday when our van broke down on the third level of Bayshore Shopping Mall. The CAA truck was not able to enter the parking level due to height restrictions. The driver Bradley Mason walked up to help and was able to get the van down to be towed. I appreciated his friendly helpful attitude.
