Different from any of the California piers I have been to yet. You drive up and pay to park ($2) It is super full, but enough parking for all. The beach has a BBQ area, bathrooms, a grassy area for picnics. The pier is very wide with views of Long Beach and the Harbor on one side. Not my favorite pier, but glad I got to see it.

Not sure what kind of lobster, but he was safely sent back to sea. Guesstimate of weight was 5 plus lbs.

First time here, night fishing. First catch of the night was a monster lobster. pretty awesome place!!!

My fisherman Bob see the wave breaking behind him?

The building itself was closed the day we went. Instead, we enjoyed the picnic areas along the walking path they provides pleasant shade and seating without compromising the view. I noticed there's an amphitheater area and I'm looking forward to returning to see some of their summer programming.

Started off someplace else and just continued on to see and stop off at all the locations nearby. There's a good amount of parking along the street as well as some along the neighborhood. The park itself is overly big but it does have a good size to it. The nice massive trees lined the area. There's a nice little path along the sides where it looks out to the Pacific Ocean and the cliffs below. It was low tide so seeing the tide pools was quite beautiful. Along the path are little covered area which are label by number. Like mini covered patio with a table and seat. They too all looks out to the water. I believe there was a total of 8 seating enclosures along the path. Also, loads of squirrels roaming the place like it's nothing. They are not scared of you so be warn. Clearly there were signs not to feed the wildlife but there was people out with bags of peanuts feeding them. In the middle of the park is a little stage area and with benches. I'm sure they have theatre in the park happening if that's set up. And a playground around the side of it. There's also a lighthouse which is a focal point of the park. Situated right in the middle which now double as a museum. It's a cute park that I never knew about. Decent size for picnics or a nice wander around. The view alone along the path was spectacular. The cliff edge is dangerous so practice caution. Common sense, but they also had signs posted about suicides. It's a cute neighborhood park as along the front are homes right across the street.

Cabrillo Marine Aquarium…read more This is a review for my experience at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. PARKING $9 for the whole day I enjoyed going to the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. Words to describe the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium: Family friendly, Interactive, Educational, Fun, Immersive, Calming, Peaceful, Mesmerizing, Budget friendly=FREE, It has several exhibits to explore, focusing on the ocean and sea life. Some of my favorite exhibits were: TOUCH POOL: The pool is home to sea stars, sea urchins, and sea slugs. It is spacious for exploring. It was neat feeling the different textures of the animals. Some were slimy, prickly, squishy, and smooth. MARINE MAMMALS: I enjoyed learning about the whales. There are life size structures and displays of interesting facts that you can read. A cool fact I learned: Did you know whale milk is 53% fat?!!! Human and cow milk is only 4%! Wow! PUPPET SHOW/FILMS AUDITORIUM: The puppet show was so cute! They were singing about different marine animals with tunes from pop hits! It was very entertaining! SPOT SPOTTY THE OCTOPUS: If you find Spotty, the plush octopus, in the aquarium, snap a photo of him, and show it to the front desk. You'll be awarded with a prize! :) *After the aquarium, you can detour to the beach/playground which are across the way! I recommended bringing a picnic basket and blanket, so you can enjoy the sun, water, and sand. I highly recommend visiting the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. It is a great trip for everyone in the family! I learned so many unique facts! The staff were so friendly and helpful as well. If you want to SHELLebrate how MERmazing ocean life is, I suggest you SEAS the day at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium.

There are lots of tanks with interesting local sea life: eels, abalone, anemones, sharks, jellyfish, sea horses, an octopus, and much more. There is a lab set up with little kids in mind. My kid loved standing on a step stool and looking at all the specimens under a magnifying glass. There's a reading corner with picture books and a felt animal wall and puzzles. There are exhibits that teach interesting facts about sea birds, whales, etc. And of course, probably the best part, a large touch tank with lots of opportunity for everyone to have a turn even on a busy Saturday. We also thought the puppet show was cute (Cake By The Ocean parody lol). It's wonderful to have an affordable educational experience available like this. No entrance fee, just a suggested donation. You have to pay for parking, but it's not too pricey. It's easy to find a spot. I liked the selection at the gift shop. We brought home a cute fridge magnet and a squishy octopus toy. Less crowded than Long Beach Aquarium and a better size to navigate with a toddler. Even if you don't have kids, this would be a fun place to spend an afternoon!

There's street parking and different structures you can park in as well. It's also on the second floor of a plaza, pretty easy to find. The inside is designed weird bc the front desk isn't obvious and you have to turn a corner to find it? There was only 1 person working that shift when I arrived. Apparently other people reserved 8pm too but they all were late so my social lane ended up being just me for a while before others joined. Sebastian did a great job of explaining the rules and he was super nice always coming around to check on me and the group of friends I randomly bumped into. He was very attentive and kind and funny! This is a great activity either for date night or a friends night out! I would definitely come come back with friends and utilize the Groupon again!
