CWM earns 5 stars from me for providing a clean, safe, lovely environment to walk and look at marina waters and a wide variety of boats. There's plentiful free parking, convenient restrooms, and a large area to visit. The boardwalk area is very wide, so that lots of visitors can walk without negotiating for space. We were there in the 4:00 hour on a Saturday, and saw only about a dozen other people scattered out during our walk. Many were walking their dogs. Despite many pet owners using the walkways, they were largely very clean. The harbor water was extra-calm today, which made for great photos. We enjoyed our brisk walk, and discovered extra treats like an alphabetical description of sailing terms carved into the cement boardwalk, plus a container ship model in a bottle. Great way to enjoy the fresh coastal air while taking a walk! read more

This is a beautiful and often peaceful area. I come walk down here quite a bit, just to get out and get some exercise. I have been over here during the day and also at night and it's always quiet. During the day, you'll see more activity from the local businesses and the people who live on their boats. There are quite a few walkers, runners, bikers, people walking their dogs, etc., both in the morning and early evenings. The area is safe and I always see security walking around, especially at night, if I go late. I prefer to go late because you have a clear view of the stars in the sky, the twinkling lights from the boats and the harbor, and it's super quiet, except for the movement of the water. Sometimes you also hear music playing from Fort MacArthur. Overall, a nice place to exercise or even see the sunset. read more

This is a truly beautiful marina! We have stayed here in guest slips twice over the past year. Interestingly enough, this marina used to be the worst marina around. I hadn't seen it in that condition, but I have heard of its prior reputation. Then they did a huge renovation and made it absolutely beautiful. The bathrooms leave something to be desired though, I would think that they would have been nicer inside in comparison to how modern and clean the exterior area all is. The parking lot also is huge. Nice green lawns to walk your pets, nice signage, trash and recycle cans aplenty, etc. We met a few of the other boaters that all seemed to be pretty cool. One thing though they have really fancy gates that seem like they would block out trespassers. However, after nightfall we saw a couple guys and hoodies climb over that gate and help them self in to the dock. Then when we tried to call the office there was no after hours security number. So that false sense of security was quite short-lived. I definitely wouldn't rent a slip here, but would stay as a guest again if we are passing by I need a place to keep our boat for the night. read more

The most incompetent office staff I've ever dealt with in my some 20 years of marinas. It's sad but I will tell you this the doc master is amazing. He knows the docks and is out there every day. Nice walk all around the harbor, great breeze, interesting wildlife, birds, etc., people sunning on their decks or cruising through the harbor. HONESTLY, in many respects this is superior facility to Marina Del Rey. Quiet and well run. However, the iffy and ultra-slow wifi is going to be a big deal-breaker in 2020. For liveaboards it's a killer, but it's also a big downer for casual use. Yes, it's that bad. It's such a nice marina and I have no idea why this isn't addressed. I'm pretty sure everyone would kick in a few extra bucks to have wifi that works well. Walk around the marina and ask people for feedback and it's the only big complaint. The obvious advantages here for sailors is just MUCH more interesting sailing conditions, better winds, a quick run to several fun spots like Long Beach, Newport, Redondo and of course Catalina is within site. The restaurant section of San Pedro is also more fun with a better vibe compared to the "apartment complex" feeling at Marina Del Rey. At first we weren't sure about the shipping traffic, but it's actually a lot of fun to watch and no big deal. In recent weeks we saw whales and a Mega-Pod of Dolphins, far more wildlife than we saw sailing out of Marina Del Rey. So it's a big YES to Cabrillo, but they'd have a higher score and a home run if they go modern on the wifi. read more

Parking our boat here over the last couple years has been a nightmare!!! The employees are so disrespectful. We have had several things stolen on or around the boat. They put a huge dent in the boat and refuse to provide insurance information. I have reported them to the BBB and D&B. The manager "Mike" actually hung up on me, while I was trying to get insurance information. The State of California requires businesses to carry insurance. Absolutely the worst. I should have never moved away from Holiday Harbor just down the street. I wish there was a way to give them a Zero Star but I can't. Their staff is incredibly rude and uninterested in helping you with any problems. I've never experienced any thing like this in my life. I've talked to several people along my birth 31E and they have said the same thing to say, there is one person inparticular who is terrifically rude the manager Maria. She talks to you like a second class citizen and pays no attention to anything you say. I had a theft incident and she completely ignored it. I'm still waiting to talk to or find out who the general manager is and still haven't gotten any information. Extremely unhappy and will be moving soon. They fixed this area up a few years ago and it is beautiful! It's nice to ride your bike from here to the aquarium since it is flat. I like to walk my dog from 22nd st park and then around here. That view with the boats is so serene and there are always other walkers or runners along the marina path. read more

We have been using this Marina for a few years now and we have always had great friendly service by the ladies in the office. The marina is always clean and so are the bathrooms and parking lot. Two years in a row we have been able to use the same slip ( which we love that's convenient for us) for our boat on fourth of July weekend without a problem. We were even able to add an additional day last minute. Even if you don't own a boat you can still walk, jog or exercise here and enjoy the beautiful views. read more

This is the most friendly and helpful marina within the harbor. My wife and I drove from AZ to sail to Catalina, every other marina was difficult to work in the harbor until I spoke with Janet at Cabrillo Way. Her calm voice and assistance in the process of getting a guest slip was extremely helpful. Additionally, Chip the Doc Master took the time to answer some questions about the sail and provided me with some helpful information. Overall the ladies and gentlemen that work for Cabrillo Way understand what customer service is and how important it is to. Business' success! I have used the dry storage for several years. The marina is new, clean and well situated. However over the years I have I have noticed an increase in the tendency of the yard crew in dry storage to act as if they're doing you a favor to launch and retrieve your boat or to do provide any other customer service. Just be aware that you were dealing with an increasingly customer hostile service crew so you must deal bureaucratically with them. Don't expect any favors, expect to schedule appointments for anything involving them, and you may have to take off work for a mid week appointment because they will refuse to provide you service on the weekends if it is inconvenient for them. read more

I was raised in southern CA boating and have been lucky to have made my career in Yachting and crossing oceans. I have circumnavigated my own boat. I have parked my boats in marinas all over the world. I have never encountered this level of fraud and lack of integrity at a marina. We paid upfront for a week in a slip. We are quiet and had good repore with our only neighbor, a large yacht. On day 4 we were asked to leave on our 6th day, a day before our contract was up. I was able to get an audience with the GM Philip Tondreault. He told me the reason we were being asked to leave was because a yacht was coming in and needed our slip. Unfortunate because this is a city owned, first come first served marina and we still had another day. But I am always happy to move to accomodate others. I am flexible (I do some yoga). On my walk over I wrote down a list of 5 other slips that were empty and could accomodate us. This was confirmed by one of the other yachts who offered the other half of one of the large empty double slips. Whatever the real reason for needing to vacate, Mr. Tondreault is doing the people of San Pedro a disservice by turning away good clients when he has empty slips. The city and it's people are paying for Mr. Tondreault's hidden inclinations. The marina across the way was happy to take us at the last minute. We are a save the whales style non-profit in a freshly re-painted Coast Guard cutter. Possibly the large local fishing fleet had a say? We get that a lot. I don't know. Oh! The gals in the office were super nice and wonderful. Thank you. read more

I've ridden my bike around the marina countless times whether in the morning, afternoon, or evening. In my opinion, the evenings are just perfect, with the light cool breeze and less people/traffic to muddle your inner harmony. The port/city has done a wonderful job of reconstructing and renovating the area. The parking lots are so pristine (very few litter strewn around) and very empty. I'm sure the potential is still there to turn the marina into a destination. It helps that Crafted has opened recently, the SS Lane Victory is now berthed there, and 22nd Street Park is across the street. I love how there are so many benches for people to sit and rest on. I've even seen several picnic tables near the main archway. Free parking is readily available all-around. An added bonus is that the marina doesn't smell all that "fishy," which is good news for my nose. read more

Okay I feel bad leaving 1 star because of the derelicts, and after reading someone else's review before me, u have to clear a few things up. First:, what is the marina supposed to do about birds shitting on your boat?? It's not there fault birds fly through the air and shit wherever they please. Second: of all, the gangways are actually the widest gang ways around. I don't see why a previous post said they were too narrow. Third: this marina doesn't seem to have a big deal problem at all, and moving your boat 500ft away to the yacht club won't help much. If you want to see a seal problem, go to Newport or Marina Del Rey. And what the hell do you want the marina to do about the seals?? Environmentalists will freak out if you touch them. Every fisherman knows they're extremely over populated and need to start being regulated but apparently they're "too cute" for that. Fourth: continually calling the management "nazis" and "gestapo like" is a bit much. I'd like to hear their side of it. I'm sure they're happy your gone! My only complaint is still the derelicts. Kick them out! Send them back to Wilmington where they belong! It's easy to tell who they are, there boats do not ever move and have junk all over them. read more

I used the Marina in 2015 for a few months, they pull out your boat or put it in the water pretty much whenever you want (new rules 24 hour notice because they are full now) very clean modern facilities & the staff is great...Nick & Paul have helped me with learning many things about my boat and about fishing...Only reason i'm giving it 4 stars is because of the location...not really any activity going on where you can take your boat to a restaurant etc...takes me 15 mins to get to LB Shoreline marina with my little 22ft boat read more
