Having grown up here it brings back so many childhood memories. The early morning gathering with family and friends for the Fourth of July. Trying to save a spot before the mad rush with people. Summers afternoon all day on the beach frolicking around enjoy the water. When you're young, you don't care what the water was like. The hours of bike rides along the path from the pier to the marina, shoreline village and back to Belmont shores. This place is one of those that just makes you smile reminding you of your childhood. I still come down whenever I'm in town to have a walk along the waterfront. Checking out the boats all lines up in the docks. The view of the Queen Mary docked permanently along the water. People watching and of course the sunsets. It's a place for all that and then some. It's a local hotspot for bike rides, exercise, and dates. Also a hotspot for the tourist enjoying Long Beach. A nostalgic experience each and every time. A nice place for just doing nothing. read more

Beautiful, busy marina. If it weren't for the trash floating around daily and homeless lurking around at night, this place would be ideal. Shoreline Village has so many restaurants to enjoy, nearby mall, Farris wheel, a wonderful aquarium, and so much more. Restrooms are clean, and trash bins could be emptied more often since this marina is run by the city. Maybe less homeless would pick through it. We won't be returning due to the garbage in the SEA, which can get caught in a boat prop; then who's responsible? We were very disappointed there isn't a service boat that cleans it up for boat residents and tourists, an embarrassment for the city of Long Beach, I'd say. read more

This review is based on one thing only: my experience walking around just to simply see what it's like. I didn't try any restaurants. I didn't rent bikes. I just walked all over the place. I woke up early Sunday morning and decided to find a dog-friendly place to walk the pup around. (He really was the main reason for the idea, I was just his personal chaufer and walker. Heeeee!) We got there early enough to find the parking lot nearly empty. None of the eateries weren't even close to opening. But that wasn't the goal: just wanted to bring the pup somewhere, it really was as simple as that. And I loved this place almost immediately. Just the mere sight of the Queen Mary was cool in itself. I enjoyed learning about the entire area and got excited about all the eatery options. There are also plenty of choices for activities: boat and bike rentals, boat tours, etc. There's even an arcade for both small and big kids alike. I let the pup take his time doing his thing, he met a few dogs here and there, he worked his charm with a few staff prepping their places to open. We enjoyed the stop. Parking in the lot is $2 for every 20 minutes (but discounted to $2 for 2 hours if validated, I believe.) Pup and I enjoyed the hour-long mini-adventure. I have since sold it to a few peeps to come back and check it out - they all agreed - so there will be a few more repeat visits (most likely longer ones) with full intentions of tryin' out some good eats! read more

This is a great place for a walk, run or a bike ride on a warm, sunny day. Lots of space on both sides of the marina with dedicated side walks. I'm not sure what the distance is, but if you walk all the way to the end you will feel like you got some exercise. You can look out at at the water and hope to spot wildlife. The people watching is not bad here either. There are bathrooms available and places to sit on a bench. You can have a meal nearby before or after. I was also thinking this might be a great place to bring a picnic lunch. If you don't have a bike there is a place nearby that rents them. If you drove there is plenty of parking too. There are lots of places to walk around Long Beach, but this is another one to add to the list. I read complaints of trash and homeless people but this was not my experience. read more

This marina has a lot going for it! But it's a double edged sword. The staff, Marina Security and maintenance are excellent. Security inside the gates is good. The outer harbor is 5 minutes away. No 45 minutes at idle before hoisting sails on my sailboat or hitting the throttles on my power boats like in Wilmington's inner harbor or Alamitos Bay marinas. Outside the dock gates, it's a party atmosphere, with Shoreline Village restaurants, shops and activities. If we stop there, it's the perfect marina and worth every penny. But... For example, this weekend, July 13 through the 16th. they have a Triathalon. All our parking and Shoreline Drive is closed. We get to park at the Convention Center and walk with whatever we want to bring for the weekend from over a 1/4 - 1/2 mile away from our boats. The Boat owner parking is something , I feel, we pay top prices in the area for. But on a busy weekend , in the middle of summer, it is arbitrarily and unilaterally taken away. There are plenty of other events through the year, Gay Pride, Long Beach Marathon , various concerts blasting music from 10 AM untill 10 PM and the Grand Prix which seriously impact the quality of service in the facility. I personally like the Grand Prix, but the fencing off of all access to Shoreline Village to those who don't , and don't buy $100+ tickets , seems unfair to me. Then , although it is better now, crime and homelessness, even to the point of stabbings and murder in the Marina area have been an issue. Going to Marina bathrooms, (which are well maintained), after dark, is something my wife is afraid to do. When taking garbage to marina dumpsters, we have awakened disgruntled and threatening homeless people sleeping in the dumpster enclosures. To end on a positive, I forgot to mention, the scenic Queen Mary , a great place for fireworks and holidays, Holiday Boat parades and less exotic but important, pump out and used oil stations to environmentally dispose of used boat engine oil and to pump black water into proper sewage facilities. I vote with my dollars , and have two 30' slips in the Marina. So I think the Pro's outweigh the Con's. The renting of the facility for concerts and other events is , in my mind, like if you rented a house and, several times a year, your landlord rented out your Garage for band practices and your driveway and front yard for birthday and private parties. Only Government would think that doing such a thing would be OK. The last thing is the added , hidden expense of charging each Marina renter , property tax on the value of the Marina slip you rent, a county proprty tax , that, as a city, the City is exempt from paying. That's weird! But go check out Shoreline on a Sunday afternoon. You will like it! read more

We arrived a little after 4pm and wanted to visit the aquarium. It took a while to find parking inside the lot and when we got to the aquarium we're disappointed that a. you need reservations and b. it was sold out. However, it was a beautiful day, very busy and lively so we walked around. We walked over to the swans rentals and rented one for an hour. VERY affordable $11 for adults $7 for minors. There's lots of places to enjoy dinner and things to do with the kiddos. Can't wait to be back next month! read more

The toilet and shower facilities require you to go up the gangway, to the outside unprotected area where the bike path and board walk is, pass the locking dock entrance, frequented by locals, tourists and homeless just to use the restroom Or laundry facility of the shoreLine marina. This is absolutely insanity. Who designed this? Boaters should not have to go out into the public domain just to use the facility restrooms, as in modern state of the art Marinas the likes in marina del rey, Newport Beach, Dana point etc read more

I would like to echo the comments left by Eric previously. I believe these people go out of their way to screw with a boat owner wanting to rent a slip long term. I had a slip in Marina del Ray which was more expensive than LB but my daughter lived in Santa Monica. She moved so I thought I'd move the boat to Shoreline. After many months of being on a wait list they call to tell me they had a slip for my 44' boat. I gave notice at MDR and ran down to LB. I had to have an inspection then went to new slip. The slip has power that has not been used for more than 40 years in almost all marinas. I called them they acted like this had never happened before. I spent 2days trying to solve this with absolutely no help from them. After Tiara, the manufacturer, said there was no fix they actually said to me then why don't you go back to MDR. Unbelievable. Now have to find another slip. read more

I see lots of bikers. Great for a jog here as well. Its a nice area to hang out. The grounds are kept clean. The free bus stops near Marina. I don't have anything negative to say about this place. Nice. read more

This is the place for you and your boat if: If you like paying people's salaries just to have them give you attitude every time they make a mistake and make you waste your time to go to the office and fix it, this is the place for you. If you like being ticketed by the marine patrol scouts if you have a parking placard but have it behind another placard. Although it can be seen, but only partially, then you write a letter to the ticket plea office at the city, begging them for forgiveness only for them to deny you and jack you for an additional $60, this is the place for you. Year after year, the attitude in the marina office continues to decline, with their "big timer" attitude. We pay these children's salaries, they work for us, and they couldn't be more disrespectful if they tried. Good job Shoreline Marina. Buncha turds. read more

Perfect spot to hang out and enjoy the bounties. Clean, well kept grounds. People are very nice. Limited parking for non-boat owners. But, you can park on the street and just walk. Or, ride FREE Passport bus. No, they don't pay me to give glowing review. Sigh. ;) read more

Amongst the general population, no privacy, very loud, too much traffic, so many special events to keep track of, very unprofessional, not knowledgeable staff, too much unkept facilities for the price you pay..... never would this place be worth it. Was a tenant for almost 2 years. Sent numerous emails to senior staff of this organization. Not one retuned by anyone, nobody! Stay far away from this place read more

It's a nice marina love to park my boat over here but the bathrooms need upgrading a lot of homeless around the area

A week ago we lost our key we where so bummed but luckily we called this place and the lady that works Sundays and Mondays at the front desk was amazingly helpful, best part of story they had our lost key, forever thankful to this place.! The office personnel lacks customer service. If you cant smile and be pleasant, find a job you will like. That kid Adam is a rude punk, really needs some courses in dealing with the public. I Grew up in long beach and shoreline village. Love it here, but the Marina personnel is horrible. Our boat is docked here, we are excellent on time with our slip. just do not the office personnel. Great location. Nice facilities and a friendly staff. I frequently use their guest services for my 32 ft offshore. Key fob access to their facilities is good as well as their dockside amenities. There are some good restaurants close by as well as local hotels when you dont want to overnight on the boat. Fuel dock manager Gary G. is a nice guy and very helpful with fishing reports! read more

Thank you Adam, Cristina, Dana, and Janice! We had to change marinas for reasons beyond our control (we were at Huntington Harbor) and decided to give Shoreline a call. BEST staff ever. Not kidding. Everyone is incredibly friendly, helpful, and efficient. Janice told us exactly what to bring (which we did), Cristina (always with a smile) got us in the system and made copies of everything, Dana set us up and helped schedule our day to inspect, measure, and intake our boat, and Adam inspected...great folks, and Adam has a ton of info! Gave us a few ideas for future projects, and had great local info. BTW, no boater ever had to wait in the office as there were plenty of staff to help. A rarity in this industry. Super friendly, and and a great resource! For anyone that is writing a negative review or complaining...just follow the rules, be nice, and bring the proper paperwork. Really a piece of cake here. And it's beautiful. I have a feeling we'll be friends with many of these people as we settle in. read more

Its amazing how many people work in the office for a marina, you do not need this many people to collect bills. The staff is very rude and controlling. I have been at the office and have been talked to very abruptly by the woman in the office for no reason. I also filed a complaint about a drunk neighbor fighting with her husband. They did not move me and told me I would have to pay to move. This is not a good environment if you bring children to the marina. Everyone is drinking in the marina not serious boaters, and also smoking pot. read more

As a new boat owner, I casually walked up to the office asking for a new FOB to gain access to my new boat. Instead of helping me , the two assistants began interrogating me and shoving paperwork in front of me. "Slips aren't transferable by boat but by name." He said. Adam Smoyer was his name. This is not a boat-owner friendly marina. Since it's owned by the city, and not a private company, I got the feeling boat owners are looked at as prey to exact fees from. Instead of assisting a new boat owner, the manager wanted to get me to start paying for a daily $48 rate immediately ! Nevermind that I knew the previous owner had paid in advance for the slip for the next couple of weeks. Nice ! So They want to get paid TWICE for the same boat on the SAME SLIP at the SAME TIME. ?!?! Is that even legal ? Does the mayor of Long beach even know what's going on at his Marina ? Needless to say, I had a friend help me move the boat out to a different Marina the following day. Do yourself a favor and find a friendly marina where boat owners are treated as customers, not prey. read more

Decent marina but run by the city of long beach. Most of the people working at the office are nice to deal with but the supervisor there is incredibly unpleasant. I had a (permanent) slip arranged weeks in advance and showed up on the weekend so I paid for a guest slip until I could meet with someone for an inspection. Three hours before my inspection time, the supervisor called and said they should never have made the appointment and that I need to pay $55 to be on a wait list like everyone else. This $55 fee is non refundable and not applicable to anything. It's just a way for them to collect another $55. If they want an application fee, they should just call it that. When I asked her where I'm supposed to go since they claimed not to have anything available she said to call alamitos since the person who booked my appointment was filling in from that office. Alamitos is in the process of rebuilding and isn't giving out slips. When I called and explained what happened they were kind enough to charge me extra to be in a temporary slip. This costs 30% more and comes with restrictions. No working on the boat after 5, no staying on the boat other than over the weekend (regular slips are limited to 3 nights a week but that's any day they choose) and I needed to be out after 10pm on the weekdays. To their credit, the people in the alamitos office were incredibly understanding and they were just letting me know up front what the rules were - they didn't make them. The marinas (alamitos and shoreline) are in convenient locations but I'm looking elsewhere. The supervisor at shoreline and the ridiculous crap so far has made me think there are much better places to spend my time and money. To even get to alamitos, you have to take a slip at shoreline, pay to get on another waiting list and then move over. Talking to a long term live aboard over at alamitos, he said that he liked the location but they've gotten out of hand with the nit picking and inspections too. read more

Been here two years and looking to relocate. Tired of panhandlers and constant events causing massive traffic problems. It's ran by the City so the employees think their above reproach. A totalitarian management mindset is firmly in place with an obvious hostility towards boaters. read more

Noisy - 'event' laden - poor police and marine patrol presence. The marina is in the middle of a public recreation facility where few people adhere to the posted rules and the boat owners are expected to do the policing that the Marine Patrol won't or can't. It's also at the south end of a crime ridden barrio/ghetto, and is frequented by much of that population who often break into vehicles and attempt, sometimes successfully, to gain access to the docks.The city worker office staff is not the least bit boat savvy, and does little more than issue reprimands. As such, the rapport between the boaters and this staff is very formal, and often strained. If you're not forced by employment or family ties to keep your boat there, get out; there are much better options at other marinas. While I miss some of the friends and acquaintances I made there (other boat owners weren't well screened, and should never have been issued a slip), I don't miss that Marina at all, and would advise anyone not to plan on keeping your boat there, if at all possible. read more
