I recently purchased a new vessel and contacted King Harbor Marine to secure a slip. Initially, the process seemed straightforward. We purchased a 25-foot boat with a 9-foot beam, so when we were shown available slips, I expressed concern about whether the boat would fit. We were given several options at the same quoted rate, and I specifically asked if we could have a backup option in case the original slip was too narrow. When the boat arrived, it became clear that the original slip would not accommodate the vessel's width, so we moved into the second slip option that had been presented to us. Everything appeared to be fine until I saw the monthly withdraw that was approximately $250 higher than the amount stated in our contract. After contacting the marina, I was informed by the manager, Jamessa E Henderson, that they had made a mistake and that the second slip actually carried a higher monthly rate. At no point was I informed of this price difference, nor was I asked to sign a revised agreement authorizing the higher charge. The marina simply began charging the increased amount without my knowledge or consent. When I explained my concerns, Janisha acknowledged the mistake and agreed that I should be reimbursed for the overcharges. However, when my deposit was returned, the promised reimbursement was not included. As a result, I have sought legal advice regarding the unauthorized charges. Beyond the billing issue, I was also disappointed by the atmosphere at the marina. The security staff frequently appeared to harass local kids who were fishing, which created an unwelcoming environment. We have since moved our boat to Port Royal and have been much happier. The facilities are nicer, the rates are lower, and the security staff are far more professional and respectful. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend King Harbor Marine. read more

The King Harbor boats few marinas, yacht clubs, and hotels, one of the most famous fish markets, plus numerous restaurants. I always like the ocean views from vista of anytime during the year, some of the ocean activities as well. Overall the restaurants here are overpriced for the food qualify. read more

In case you guys were wondering: I totally live it up in LA and live the Cali-Beach-Yacht-Celeb-VIP- Life. My life consists of bottle service, making money rain, and flashy jewelry everywhere. Okay, none of that is true (although I have my moments, actually). In reality, I have lived ten years in the black hole of the Valley and don't get out much. So when I met a guy asking me to spend the evening on a sailboat docked at King Harbor Marina; I was all, "Duh! Yes, please!" And thus began my acquaintance with King Harbor Marina. King Harbor Marina is located in Redondo Beach on Yacht Club Way in the heart of the Redondo beach community near the wharf. King Harbor Marina is a combination live/work nest meaning that it is literally a marina docking houseboats, yachts, and sailboats used for residency and/or recreation; but there are also apartment accommodations on the property. Basically, King Habor Marina is beachfront living at its finest. Swanky! You can't miss the entrance to King Harbor Marina as it has blatant signage and is beautifully nestled next to the sandy beach area. A large parking lot is available with parking passes available (temp and perm) for residents (both boats and apartments). Both the parking lot and marina are clean and well-maintained surrounded by palm trees, sand, and boats in every direction your eyes gaze. You can't help but be transported to a beach resort and you certainly forget about the smog craziness that is LA. Each boat docked in the marina is well-preserved with clean docks, all-night lighting, and locked gates to each dock with keys only given to those owning the boats and therefore ensuring security. There is a slight dirty water stench but very tolerable and there isn't trash floating around or bird poop everywhere so overall King Harbor Marina is clearly on-par with the upkeep. Accessibility to the docks and parking lot, trash bins, etc is all easy-peasy. King Harbor Marina also offers a clubhouse (also security-enforced with keys offered to paying tenants) with food, bathrooms, showers, etc. I was worried about using the restroom as I am not a fan of public toilets or showers but was delightfully surprised to find the toilets to be very clean, in top-working order, no odors, etc. It was cleaner than many inner-city business establishment rest rooms! Well done! I noticed, around 1am, that a security guard was walking around the parking lot with a flashlight checking for parking passes in cars so King Harbor Marina doesn't joke around with safety or making sure only those individuals are around who are supposed to be. 1am also marked the prime time for seal barking! These water dogs are LOUD and party it up barking at night! I loved it being an animal-lover but this may be an annoyance to some people. Don't forget to take a walk on the actual beach. The sandy stretch provides a rock jetty with beautiful sunsets perfect for moments of solitude. However, there weren't really any sea shells and on the contrary I saw trash and a dead sea gull so perhaps not the best of the best beaches in LA. Although, I don't personally lease at King Harbor so I can't vouch for the inner-workings of paying rent; my experience with the marina, clubhouse, etc was satisfactory. The property is safe, well-maintained, and nice on the eyes. Definitely check out King Harbor if you have the opportunity to live it up, Cali yacht-style. read more

In May 2024 I prepaid for a 4 day guest slip which required a $300 deposit. i left the slip as scheduled. After 2 months my cash deposit of $300 was not returned. I spoke to Tyler and Michael 3 times over 4 months now. Each time they promised "Check In The Mail". I spoke to very rude accountant woman on August 5, who promised "Check In The Mail" I still have not received refund and am process of filing a small claim in the amount of $900 plus court costs. As a litigator, I can assure the marina will be ordered to pay. This is the MOST UNPROFESSIONAL business. BTW, the slips in King Harbor are in extremely poor condition, yet they charge the most in Southern California. read more

Bought my first Sailboat, 27' Catalina, and brought her up from Dana Point. The dock is in great condition, the facilities were always clean and the staff were great to work with. It's a no drama dock and when I traded up to a 30' boat they didn't have slips so I had to move to Pedro. I got all my deposits back with out hassle. I would have given it 5 stars but the only drawback is the parking lot next to the breakwall can get packed and late at night it can get a little iffy. More than once I found needles in the lot but there was security and my truck was never messed with. I'd still be there if they had a 30' open. read more

On Sunday May 31, 09 there was a Sea Fair Boating Safety and Open House at the King Harbor Yacht Club (I posted it on yelp events but none of you losers came http://www.yelp.com/events/redondo-beach-sea-fair-boating-safety-and-open-house ) It was mostly booths about boating safety, the different clubs within the yacht club such as sailing, multi-hull and power boats (sorry if I got the exact names wrong). EXTREMELY RACIST STAFF AND RESIDENTS!!! A friend of ours who has a boat on the doc has just been evicted because we, people of color, had been visiting him there pretty frequently. Not only were they very hostile in regards to their customer service, but we have endured numerous accounts of racial profiling and other extremely disrespectful remarks made by residents. There is barely any security because the residency is not just predominantly but all white --which you can infer is not by coincidence-- and because of that they assume they don't need any but based on our experience, I can assure you that assumption is completely and utterly wrong. I'd like to note before providing these unsettling anecdotes that we have been nothing but kind and friendly to those there and find this so disheartening that they are too small-minded to move past their ignorant ideology and see that we are just as much human as they are. With that being said, the first time it was racial profiling, we needed to use the bathroom and there were two white women already there who proceeded to interrogate us on the matters of why we were, and it wasn't kind small talk but rather invasive accusations. Basically, insinuating to us that we must have done something shady or sneaky to be there because we are black. We let it go in hopes of forgetting about their disrespectful antics in trying to catch us in something of ill intent they assumed we were doing, and go on peacefully about our day without any drama. We honestly don't have the privilege of confronting them peacefully without fearing for our own lives in today's social climate where people of color are frequently hate crimed. What's ironic though is the next day we went back to the bathroom, and on our way there we encountered two white and drunk homeless men who responded to our attempts to be kind and speak to them proceeded to call us racial slurs and walked directly into the bathrooms without any repercussions, zero interrogations, and absolutely no keys*** they were welcomed in as soon as the person occupying that bathrooms before had left. Lastly, there have been very inappropriate, sexual, creepy, and eerie remarks made about my friend's body by the married neighbor directly on the side of the boat, and he would consistently ask her if she was alone. If not all most women can empathize and understand how frightening that situation can be when you genuinely are alone. When we asked why our friend's boat was being evicted we were told by head management that it was because the company he kept "wasn't a good look for them," and that families come here to get away from "things like that," dehumanizing us to prove his point. Then when tried confronting them about their racism they used a black staff member as a reference point to justify it. In conclusion, I strongly would not recommend anyone to stay here, and I wouldn't wish the foul and hurtful treatment we experienced here upon anyone. read more

I've had my boat here and at Long Beach. Was considering coming back this next season but not. Read all the fine print on your slip lease. If you return a key late you lose your deposit. Management was not helpful at all. Their answer to me was read the fine print. Long Beach has a better boating experience also. read more

First, the three stars are for the location. The only reason there aren't five stars is for the management, which treats the tenants like they are obligations rather than customers. I have lived there for 7 years, and have paid $150,000 in rent. No joke. I recently had a small plastic pass (cost can't be more than a $1) that is used for temporary overnight parking. My parents took it with them in their rental car when they visited, and I needed it replaced. I got it replaced, and noticed a small additional charge of $3 on my rent. I called up about it , and the conversation that took place is what inspired me to write this review. If it had been a one off conversation rather than a repeat of previous experiences, I would have brushed it off. However, a large percentage of the times I've needed something, I am viewed with suspicion or as a burden, rather than a customer to help. The building has older piping, and numerous times I've had my apartment flooded with water. Each time, rather than make it an opportunity to assist me, they have left behind dirt and plaster after patching, and I have been forced to clean it up. There are numerous other instances, between a replacement key to my apt ($25, as if it costs that much for a key), lockout charges, etc. Great view but management that needs to revisit the meaning of customer service. read more
