4 of us came in on a whim. The restaurant is super cute and the ambience was drawing us in. Started with cocktails, we had a pornstar martini, sangria, Paloma, and a strawberry mojito. We ordered the zucchini noodles with prawns and cuddlefish, zucchini flower stuffed with burrata, goat cheese and honey toast. Everything was good. We also had the black paella with prawns aioli. Popped in while walking around the Plaça Catalunya. We sat outside on the terrace, which was actually in the middle of the roadway with traffic on either side... It was cool. The service was very attentive, and our waiter, a fellow Ecuadorian...was very professional and friendly. We ordered staple tapas and dessert, and the food was very delicious. I had no idea how huge and elegant the restaurant was until I went inside to use the bathroom before leaving. We were there just after 7 pm so it wasn't as busy as I imagine it will get later, because in Barcelona, people don't have dinner until 9 or 10 PM. We ordered fresh salmon with dill, coroquetas de jamón iberico, a cod fritter, and chicken cannelloni with foie gras and black truffle sauce. We also ordered the pan with tomate, of course to soak up the truffle sauce. The cannelloni was amazing! I mean it melted in your mouth amazing!! After our snacks... We ordered dessert. We ordered their homemade Belgian chocolate ice cream, which is hands-down, the best chocolate ice cream I've ever eaten. And we also ordered their version of a crème brûlée called crema Catalonya! Who doesn't like finding an amazing food choice while touring museums on Christmas? The mini burger was amazing, the hamburger comes with fries and gravy no bun but it's seasoned well, the grilled salmon was great when you add it with the peppers, and the grilled veggies come with potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, zucchini, and other veggies. Came here as the original place wanted to eat at had no availability. I highly recommend any visitors to look at the restaurants they want to eat at early in the day to see if they offer reservations as I had seen so many people get turn away at other restaurants for being too full. Anyways - Had the Ramon Sangria which tasted okay. It was sweet but tasted a little watered down. Had quite a few Tapas along with their Seafood Paella and had their steak with demi-glace y foie poêlé. The Paella was good but their steak was probably the star in my opinion. It was full of flavor and was melt in your mouth good. Side note: I did have a few issues with this place. 1. The service was slow. It took about 10 minutes and 3 requests for just an extra cup for the Sangria. 2. The I had asked the waiter to put 15 Euros as tip on the card but he ASKED ME if it could be 25 Euros instead which was weird to me and said no. Though later on - I double check as was charged the 25 Euros... I decided to be giving and no go back to fight it but keep an eye out for how much they charge you on tip. read more

Food was okay overall, but there are way better tapas restaurants in Barcelona. Don't get the steak (entrecot), it was tough, tasteless and overpriced. Don't get the chicken croquette. I liked the tuna and tomato salad, grilled veggies, and the calamari. This was one of the only places in the city where the server verbally demanded a tip when we were paying, which was a bit aggressive. The service was good though, until that point. Cachitos Rambla. There is bad and then there is abysmal. Our experience was the latter. What restaurant in Spain, the sangria capital of the world, would dare make the fruity concoction with a bottled mix? The pitchers of white and red sangria that we ordered to start were delivered to our table in pitchers with ice and a few slices of freshly cut fruit, but no wine. Wine was then added from an open bottle. Huh? The stuff was sickly sweet and horrible. Our waiter confirmed that the restaurant uses a prepared mix to make their sangria. Who does that? Cachitos Rambla does. But this was only the beginning. Our party of seven then ordered paella, four in all. My partner and I ordered the shrimp with black rice paella; others ordered squid and shrimp with clams. When our paella arrived it contained four head on shrimp that once dismantled, weren't enough to make a small shrimp cocktail. I looked at the other paella pans and saw the same - hardly enough protein for a child let alone two adults. That being said, the paella was prepared properly and was edible. Dinner here was fantastic. We ate inside because there was a long wait for an outside table, and the inside was lovely. Great decor, spacious and comfortable. The food and drinks were great. We got the chicken, pork and sausage paella. And a few appetizers and tapas. Lots of good options with great variety which has been hard to find in Spain. Jet lagged and ready for bed - my family and I wandered into Cachitos the next closest choice and were immediately seated instead. The four of us shared their razor clams, foie gras cannelloni, seafood paella, and seared foie gras over sirloin steak. Two tapas and two main entrees were just the right amount of food for us. The razor clams tasted like they came straight from the ocean - so fresh! Cooked foie gras in any form were beyond delicious. Pasta form got an extra yaaasss from me. This restaurant was our first choice after arriving to Barcelona late at night and tired. It was close to the hotel which made it easy. After just one meal there, my husband and I were hooked! The food is incredible. Homemade fries, paella, chocolate, and more. A lot of attention to the food and drinks. The wine that was recommended to us (Lucero) matched what we were looking for and it is now a favorite of ours. The sangria here is also delicious. The staff is incredible and we especially loved Sham and the manager Demitri. If I've learned one thing by spending these three days in Barcelona, it's that I need to come back here again. And Cachitos is an example of why. Nearly 9:30 at night, the place is still hopping but there are some open seats at the bar. The bartender brought me the English menu and took my order for a glass of Cava (Cava is the Spanish wine that's made using the same process as champagne but it's not from Champagne, France and therefore can't be called that). While I looked over the menu, I also looked over the glass case of delicious looking tapas options. I ordered three and asked him for a recommendation on the third. Totally on point. Yum. I had the bread with tomatoes (a Catalan thing), the potates bravas (another Catalan thing), a pepper stuffed with tuna and olives and the bartender's recommendation, cannelloni stuffed with foie gras and truffles. He forgot to charge me for the beer (oops) and he also gave me a sample of the Iberian ham (oops again), but the service was just awesome anyway and the food was fantastic and so here's the five stars for Cachitos Rambla. Really really really good tapas. We came here kind of spontaneously after trying to go to another restaurant, but we were definitely glad we did. The menu has tons of options for vegetarians (including paella, my favorite) and also has an entire map of Spain detailing where all of its types of wine/sangria comes from which was pretty cool. We just asked for one that was sweet and fruity and really liked it, although it was nothing amazingly special. For tapas, I split the tomato bread and patatas bravas (both classic dishes that can be found anywhere). The tomato bread was awesome - had a lot of tomato on it and the bread was not too crunchy to the point where it was impossible to eat. The edges were very crispy making the entire dish extremely enjoyable. The patatas bravas were also fantastic. The potatoes were just the right size and very crispy. The bravas sauce felt a little creamy but still went really well with the potatoes. They also give a lot of sauce which makes it even better. For the main course, a friend and I split the Vegetarian Paella and were quite impressed. Although I'm not a fan of the darker sauce in the paella, it was still full of flavor and was quite spicy. The paella is a little thinner though and doesn't really have any vegetables in it (only small pieces and chunks). It is, however, very crispy on the edges which make things tasty too. Although good, I've definitely had better in terms of paella. The ambiance of the place is also great - feels like a really fancy restaurant with extremely affordable prices. read more

But, don't let my judgement be something to stop u from coming here. I love how they have outdoor seating, but it was just too hot to sit outdoors at the time i went. Solid choice in Barcelona. Convenient location, multilevel restaurant/bar that turns into a happening club with good looking people on weekends in the immediate vicinity of the Passeig de Gracia area (short walk from the Alma hotel I stayed at). Your choice of tapas or an unbelievable cook to order seafood grill on the middle level, where I ordered an unbelievably good tasting tuna steak smothered in Spanish olive oil and served with delicious garlic. I accompanied that wonderful meal with some great Rioja wine and finished it off with a Philadelphia cheesecake topped with cherries served on a graham cracker crust. Not the cheapest restaurant in Barcelona (a bit more expensive than many of the popular tapas only restaurants), but very good food and an equally enjoyable ambiance. I have allergy with shrimp, but still craving for seafood, so I requested to not have shrimps in. We had a really bad experience here. This place is known for having 55 types of sangria but didn't have a lot of options for fruit when we went there so it was really just 10 types of sangria. To add to that, the sangria wasn't even very good. We had patatas bravas which weren't very good as they don't fry their potatoes (didn't even know bad patatas bravas existed) along with some other tapas which were just decent. Although 10 PM is dinner time in Barcelona, it's way past my normal feeding time. When I was faced with a 30 minute dinner wait at Ciudad Condal I knew that it wasn't going to work out. Luckily, Rambla Catalunya is littered with plenty of similar tapas restaurants. None have as much hype as Ciudad Condal, but it's Barcelona, and there are still plenty of incredible tapas to be found. We stumbled across Cachitos Rambla and it seemed like a great option. A stacked menu, lots of available seating, and cute and trendy decor. It wasn't overpacked but still had an upbeat vibe and a lively buzz. The menu had a little bit of everything to satisfy a tapas craving. We started off with a platter of manchego cheese and bread with jamon. Cheese and meat plates are my fave, and I probably could have ordered some more and made an entire meal out of this. We also ordered croquettes. I think I ordered croquettes at five different places during my Barcelona trip. These weren't the best that I had, but were still perfectly fried and filled with ooey gooey cheese and ham. The cod croquettes were a little too salty, but still decent. Next up was another round of montaditos, this time with goat cheese. The bread was piled so high with goat cheese that I almost couldn't bite into it. Too much goat cheese is never an issue, so it was fine. Finally, to offset all of the meaty and cheesy goodness we ordered a platter of grilled veggies which was loaded with fresh peppers, asparagus, carrots and tomato. To wash everything down we went with a pitcher of mango kiwi sangria. They had several fruity sangria combos, which I thought was really fun and unique. When the tall, gorgeous blonde in the short, tight skirt started talking in Spanish to one of my colleagues he froze. When she told us to follow her, the other guy said 'anywhere'. I'm surprised we ever left this place. It's a large room with three floors I believe. They took us upstairs to the dining room. On the lower level is a very sexy looking lounge that you'll see when you go to the restrooms. Our server was very helpful and patient and spoke very good English. She let us know all of her favourite items. We ordered a few tapas and some paella. It was good, not great. The sangria was tasty but totally overpriced. We moved to wine afterwards.
