Fried prawns had a perfect texture. I don't know what they do to the shrimp here but it's so tender. The lobster paella was divine. I loved the soupy texture and we ate the whole thing. Perfect for 2! The sangria with cava was my jam, light refreshing champagne cocktail. The octopus was absolutely delish, layered on top of a creamy cheese was different and great surprise! Honestly was a HUGE let down coming here. It was our final night in Barcelona and we've had for the most part, amazing experiences when it comes to the food. Coming here we expected no different especially after reading the reviews. Boy were we mistaken. We ordered the meatballs, garlic prawns, and chicken croquettes as tapas and then their special Bo de Boquería prawn paella. ALL OF IT was plain, lacking flavor and not fresh. Feels like the shrimp and meatballs were all frozen food that had been sitting in the freezer for a while. The garlic shrimp had no garlic, it was just soaked in a pool of oil and clearly overcooked. The chicken croquettes were very mushy and no crisp to it at all. The rice in the Paella was burnt, the shrimps were exactly like the garlic shrimp and just had no flavor at all. There were apparently also baby squid in the paella and I think I tasted one every 10-15 bites. Pretty much non existent. For the prices of this restaurant, the quality of food does not even come close to making sense. The restaurant itself was very basic when it came to decor and was filled with families with young children that were very noisy. The staff were nice but it took a long time for someone to come and take our order. Overall not a fan and most likely won't be coming back even if they decide to lower their prices. read more

I came here after hiking up Mt. Tibidabo. And I was hungry. Solo lunch which consisted of a pitcher of sangria, paella marisco (seafood paella), and the must-have pulpo (grilled octopus). Excellent paella in the heart of the Gothic District in Barcelona. It is a little bit tucked away, but worth finding. There is plenty of seating, although it was fairly full the night we were there. After reading some promising reviews on Yelp, we decided to check out this restaurant, especially since it was a bit off the typical tourist path. We ordered the patatas bravas, meatballs, and seafood paella. The patatas bravas were the highlight--crispy potatoes paired with a tasty mix of mayo and spicy sauce. The meatballs were just okay, but the seafood paella was a letdown. It came with only two medium shrimp and six tiny clams, and was heavily over-seasoned, lacking any real authenticity. Service was average--no one checked in on us after the food arrived. With so many incredible spots to enjoy authentic Catalan cuisine, this just isn't one of them. read more

We stumbled upon this place per my bf's Google search of local dining in the area. We weren't staying near the Gothic Quarters, but we ventured 30 mins out because he was interested in scoping out some of the spots in this area (we also stayed for some nightlife). This restaurant itself is located in an alleyway, gave me NYC vibes forsure. My bf wanted to dine outside and get the full "Spain" experience, neither I, nor my friend were opposed to it... Little did we know that wasn't the best choice. We waited a few moments for the wait staff to set up a table for us, we ordered our food and in a matter of minutes did panhandlers come around and start soliciting us with their displays of live entertainment and public distraction. It was almost comical because it happened in rounds where one group would come in, then the next group would follow. Sadly, I take fault in that because I did end up giving some money to some acordian entertainers and when that happened and they left, many others followed suit. At one point, I was minding my own business, just eating my meal and some lady out of nowwhere comes close to my face (says not a word), but stares me down hard it spooked me to the point where all I said was, "no thank you". lol. Now I understand, this review is somewhat bias because this is not the restaurant's fault in any way shape or form and to our luck, all the tables inside were already taken as it was dinner hour and they were booked. However, the food did unfortunately end up being "just ok", despite being very hungry, we did have higher expectations, based on what we were comparing Spain to back home. I may be condemned for saying this, but I've had better paella back home in lil Rhody than I did at this particular establishment. Wasn't that it wasn't well executed, just flavor-wise and biasly, due to experience, it wasn't the absolute enjoyable time. Also, my friend's steak was very well done, despite being asked to have it medium well. (he kept shaking the table trying to cut it). Oh and also, there was a specific noodle dish that I wanted to order, based on one of the Google photos someone posted, I unfortunately lost the photo but described it as a noodle dish and sadly, it was not the same one I originally wanted to order. Again, not the waiter's fault either, but just a bummer. Didn't get the waiter's name, however, he was very nice and did inform me to not keep my purse on the table due to some incidences of sketchy people snatching them up. If i were in Spain anytime again, I probably would not choose this particular spot. However, I had phenomenal paella in Ibiza which made up for this lackluster experience. read more

This is a hidden gem right off La Rambla in a small alley. About 2 minutes walk from the Boqueria Market. My husband and I were craving for some hot soup and came across this place. Fantastic food, wine and very welcoming staff. Started our meal with a lovely Spanish Cabernet Sauvignon. We had a cheese plate which was delicious along with tomato bread to start. We then had chicken paella which was also very good. We finished with creme catalania (sort of like a creme brulee) and a coconut ice cream which was divine. At 20+ euros, we were going to split one paella instead of getting 2 as the waiter insisted as he told us many times that it was sold per person. I am glad we only got one, it was nothing special. The pan contained a thin layer of greasy rice. There were 2 prawns and a few shellfish. We did get the Roman calamari as an appetizer, it was really good. For 39€ it's a bit pricey for its portion though 2) Samuel our waiter was very nice and the overall experience and service was great Why only 4 instead of 5 stars: 1) the dish portions were little for their prizes - octopus 16 euro and seven tiny shrimps for 13 Euro. We found this place close to our hotel online as they are not right on the main street. And it wound up being our best food experience during our Barcelona trip.
