Our group of 6 came in for dinner on a Friday night. They seated us right away and staff was so friendly. Our server was wonderful- she was attentive and patient and offered good suggestions. We enjoyed the chips and salsa and ordered some queso. The chips and queso were a big hit and it's nice that you can customize how spicy it is. I tried the jefe burrito without meat and added a side of guacamole. The burrito was delicious and a generous size. Others in the group had tacos and a quesadilla. We were shocked at how large the quesadilla was! Margaritas were yummy- we were able to add extra jalapeños for some added kick to our spicy jalapeños. A wonderful spot for a meal. Delicious! We wanted to try this place after the excellent reviews on yelp. Everything was good. The homemade guacamole appetizer was so fresh and full of avocado chunks. Salsa was excellent as well. The mango shrimp appetizer was sweet and tangy and was enough for a meal. The blue crab quesadilla combo is so worth it. Lots of crab meat and cheese. We stopped in to have breakfast which they don't have but one item ( Huevos Rancheros) so we stayed for lunch. It wasn't a typical Mexican flavor, but had a different flare to it. 3rd time here..more disappointing each visit. Our waiter was a bit sluggish. He seemed to have a bit of tude, when we walked in, he & 2 other employees were just chatting up front as I stood there. Mind you they had just opened but I finally asked to get their attention, if we could pick a table, he immediately responded, no I'll seat you. The chips & salasa are not homemade. It is literally Tostito chips. My husband ordered the chicken burrito with French fries inside, he said seemed like drunk food. I ordered the tostada with shredded chicken & it was tasty. My son ordered the beef quesadillas & instead of fajita beef, it was like shredded roast beef. We're from TX so I suppose homemade authentic Mexican cuisine is not really a thing, in FL. An amazing restaurant we ate at during our vacation. Located next to the souvenir shop, it's a convenient restaurant and during our vacation. It's a California style Mexican restaurant. The guac was pricey but was some of the best I ever had. The rice looked so good nice and juicy and the chicken and shrimp tacos had amazing flavor. There are few decent Mexican restaurants in the Navarre area. This is passable but nothing to make you go wow, or even make a mental note to return. I ordered a chimichanga and what came out was a square burrito fried. Square. Over the years I have experienced chimichangas which are more 'normal', namely a crispy, fat, long burrito fried to a golden brown. This chimi was not fat, pale, and oddly square. The presentation threw me, and sadly the chimi itself did not have much in the way of flavor. Our visit here was amazing!! And knowing they are an LGBTQ+ owned business made us feel right at home !! The atmosphere was quiet, clean and simple. I am visiting Navarre from Texas for a month and I am craving my Tex Mex! I messaged this place here on Yelp inquiring about the crab quesadilla and within minutes the owner John responded... Hello! Who does that these days?!? I called and a very polite man took my order with kindness and made me feel comfortable with my order... Hello! That just doesn't happen much these days! He was so good! Told me when my order would be ready... picked it up and I am a happy camper! The crab quesadilla hit the spot, the salsa is on point and the mango tacos made me happy! We will definitely be back and eat in to try those wine margaritas! I did read a review about not getting chips with their salsa and guacamole order... I was asked if I wanted them... I declined and went and got my own because I heard in another review or two that they weren't made in house and were from a bag... that's the only bummer... $50 out the door with tip! Sweet girl was nice at pick up and thanked us with a smile! I will totally be back to try the mahi mahi tacos and beans!!!! I forgot to order the beans!!! y'all, this salsa is good!!! A quick Yelp search landed us here at Cactus Flower Cafe and I am sooooo glad for the recommendation. The place was crowded and hopping. We had to put our name on a wait list. It was around a 30 minute wait which isn't bad for a Friday night. We ordered the queso with bean, mahi fish tacos, and enchilada. It was ALLLLLL soooo good. I absolutely loved the queso with bean. I honestly thought it was going to be lame, but it was so good. My fish taco was a little on the dry side, but I flavor was ok. My husband really liked his enchiladas. When I inquired about chips, the man at the counter said he could give me some chips in a styrofoam container. When I spend $18 on salsa and guac, I expected I could get a few more chips than that. I could've purchased a full bag of chips if I wanted to. Had I eaten in the restaurant, I'm sure I wouldn't have been charged for chips. More than likely won't be visiting again. The aesthetic is nice, the tables are spaced out well, the food is delicious, and the service is wonderful. I ordered the pork medallion with verde sauce along with black and pinto beans and rice. The beans were probably the best that I have eaten from a restaurant and the rest was splendid. I dined with three others and the food was prepared within a perfectly acceptable amount of time after ordering. We also ordered the guacamole as an appetizer and I found it to be very fresh. Our server, Megan, was engaging, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and a fantastic waitress overall; she deserves a raise! In summary, if you are in Navarre and you are deciding where to eat, then I highly recommend Cactus Flower Café. The whole experience was relatively short and the prices are not too bad either, especially when compared to other local restaurants. The Cactus Flower Cafe would be easy to miss. Though it is on a main road, it sits in a sideways positioned shopping plaza and the signage is a bit weak. However, the restaurant was pretty busy so a lot of people (whether locals or tourists) are well aware of this restaurant and where to find it. The restaurant bills itself as a California style Mexican restaurant, so I won't get into whether it is authentic Mexican, Cal-Mex or whatever. Let's just let the food do the talking and not harp on whether it is authentic or not. The menu is a bit limited, but I did have a few items that I was torn between. The chimichanga sounded good, but the burrito whispered seductively in my ear as did the enchiladas. I ended up going with the burrito (for my protein, I went with the pork) and added a half order of guacamole. So, they brought the standard chips and salsa to begin my meal. Not bad. Nothing spectacular, but again, not bad. My server, Marisa, was excellent and she brought my burrito in a fast fashion. The burrito again, was ok. I have definitely had better, but I have definitely had worse. I would have liked to have seen maybe a cheese or a sauce covering the burrito. There was a thin layer, so thinly added I honestly could not figure out what it was. I will give a pet peeve that I overheard at the next table. The couple asked for sour cream on an entree and the server responded that the sour cream would be seventy five cents. I get that adding things cost the restaurant more, but this place was charging a bit on the high side and I wonder if it was a big deal to charge them seventy five cents on top of the thirteen or fourteen dollars for their entree. I did try their extra hot salsa (and, hey, no upcharge). It was ok. This is becoming a trend here. For my burrito and the guacamole it was about sixteen dollars before the tip, so figure about twenty dollars for dinner after including the tip. Again, service here is excellent. Both professional and friendly. Food was ok. But I have to say that it is a popular place in Navarre, Florida. read more
