Rio Bravo has the best food, if you want real authentic Mexican food. I think that they could bottle the salsa, can the beans, that they serve as an appetizer, and sell them. It's the only place I want to go for Mexican food. Their wait staff is the friendliest and most accommodating! They act like they want your visit to be pleasant. The Ambience is bright and beautiful. The table tops have beautiful Dios de los Muertos art in the center, and little mosaic squares around the table that look like snapshots from a kaleidoscope. I do not know what these symbolize. We went to Rio with big expectations. We left disappointed. The menu offers typical mexican fare. We were surprised to get a warm bean dip in addition to the chips and salsa. Our server was lame. We ordered quest with jalapeno what we got was quest with tiny specs that we hope were jalapeno. But we needed chips, we asked, she just never returned. We asked a random man and told him are quest was now cold, he warmed it up, but still no chips. By the time we got our chips the reheated cheese was gelatinous and looked like snot. I ordered the $20 fajita quesadilla with grilled steak. This did not include rice and beans but a small muffin cup of Pico, guacamole and sour cream all thrown in there. The steaks was like mystery meat. It was mushy and odd tasting. Again server no where in sight. The quesdilla was scantily filled, I expected more for $20. Or would have been satisfied with great flavor. When the server came back she said everything taste good did not wait for an answer. My husband had the Chile Rellanos and said I won't be coming back. Do better Rio, especially since your prices are so high. Keep going there is better mexican restaurants out there. read more

Ordered for pick up, they only gave our "group" order 1 bag of chips and a half a container of salsa. Also, the $7 cheese dip is the size of a half a cup. Don't waste your money on it for $7. Not sure I'll come back honestly. Too overpriced and not good enough to justify it. read more

We made the mistake of coming on bingo night. Our experience would probably have been better had we came on a different night we thought it was affiliated with the Rio Bravo in Pensacola. Completely different. I thought the margaritas were weak. The salsa and been dip was good. I got the wrong kind of shrimp, and didn't care for what I got. It was good about a year back. Been going there for about 7 years. Something changed. Last 3-4 takeout orders have been wrong. They tie up the bags so it's difficult to verify order. Not worth driving back to get the correct order. Last order was extremely salty. Will be trying to find another Mexican restaurant unfortunately. My expectations for Mexican food are really high since i'm Mexican from Houston Texas. I was craving some Mexican food so decided to give rio bravo a try. The queso jalapeño with chips were really good. I got the street tacos, rice and beans were really good and the salsa it comes with (really spicy how i like it) I got the asada meat, could use a little bit more flavor so tacos were okay, the tortilla was good tho! It definitely satisfied my craving for mex food. I would probably come again to try something else like a quesadilla maybe try a diff meat like chicken or al pastor. The restaurant itself was nice and clean, host and waiters were nice. My partner got El Bravo spicy plate his meat had a bit more flavor than mine, his was good! read more

Terrible place. Drunk guy next to my family and I was vaping inside the restaurant. Every word out of his mouth was a cuss word. To be honest with a 3.5 rating I was pretty skeptical. It didn't look like it was going to be that great and I am picky but my husband wanted to eat. We were seated quickly and brought some refried beans and salsa, they were great. Our server was amazing! I ordered the Cuernavaca USDA Choice Ribeye Steak grilled topped with caramelized onions and mushrooms. Served with traditional Mexican rice and a guacamole salad. A-maz-ing! It was delicious! I have had a few things from here but today I was a little more disappointed. Our server Alejandro only came to our take to ask for our drinks then took our order and next time we seen him was to bring our food then asked if my spouse wanted another beer but didn't ask how our food was. My rice was lukewarm and food just missing a little salt. I had the tacos here before and I hate that they add potatoes in them because I don't like potatoes at all. The salsa was much spicier than normal which I was disappointed because I enjoy the salsa but not that spicy. The person that brings the chips just drops them on the table and lightly tosses the dips on the table. We said thank you and no response back. But come here for a great time at bingo and I love all the murals on the walls and margaritas are a little watery need a little more syrup in my opinion. read more

This review is for the one bartender named Tina... This young girl has no business whatsoever working behind the bar! She can neither make a drinkable margarita nor take a correct order. She's absolutely the rudest little no margarita-making bartender that I've ever come across in my life! First encounter, I had to send 2 margaritas back to the bar and request that the manager Alejandro, make me a decent margarita. Second encounter, I didn't realize that she was the bartender from the first encounter when we sat down at the bar this time. I asked her for a skinny margarita and she had the nerve to tell me "NO"! I asked, " Why not? She replied, "You sent back 2 of my margaritas last week and I'm not going to make you another one!" I was in shock! My group was also shocked and upset, so we all got up to leave in protest of her rude behavior! Third encounter, we were sitting at the bar and I recognized her this time, so I asked the manager Alejandro to make me a margarita. He did, and it was so good! Then, I didn't want to stay, so we placed an order to go. She attempted to grab my margarita to put in a to go cup, so I put my hand on it to pull it back. She stated that she must be the one to put it in the to-go cup. I said "NO, I don't trust you not to spit in my drink." Then she said, "What's your problem, old lady"! Can you believe the nerve on this little immature brat? I quietly told her that I would meet her in the parking lot away from the other customers, if she wanted to continue to talk trash to me. For some reason this was the only place open in the area when I was looking for dinner. It was packed with people so I thought I would give it a try. I ordered the torta with pork and the tamale dinner with rice and beans. The torta came with fries, but I still had many questions about the dish. What was the meat that was put in? It tasted like a fatty piece of meat that had severe freezer burn. Why was there American cheese on this? The avocado has all sorts of black spots on it. It looked like it was going bad. I know Rio Bravo has local regulars that give this restaurant a lot of nice reviews, & stars; but, I have not found anything there worth going back. Our experience as Mexicans from Texas...We've been in Pensacola for 4 days and we were dying for some Mexican food, my 3 year old was over seafood as wasn't eating anymore he was begging for some arroz and frijoles! We decided to try this place after looking as several "Mexican" places in the area but a few had that fake red rice. We got here and the ambiance is good, playing all types of Latin music and not too loud. The host was a bit unfriendly but not rude. We were seated right away and our server was Angel and she was super sweet and friendly. They offer complimentary chips and salsa and frijoles (beans) that was the best part! All Mexican restaurants need to do this everybody knows that frijoles and tostadas are the best!!!! We ordered the kids the enchilada, burrito and quesadilla prior to placing out order. It was brought quickly and it wasn't super hot so we were able to feed the kids right away (another plus). They offer the option for beef or chicken at no extra cost. Our food came out and it was sooo good and we could of definitely have shared one of the plates since the serving were so big but I'm glad I didn't because now I have leftover fajitas for tomorrow! My husband said the nachos were also really good and he liked that his came with chicken, steak and shrimp! It's located at an unassuming strip mall, but don't let the location put you off. It's a gem we forgot about after the Pedro's that just opened and the long standing, Mariachis. This place is going back on top of our favorites list for me and my three sisters. The portions are generous, and the quality and taste of the food are outstanding, and the prices are affordable. We got the fajitas and the best thing I can say about them is that the onions and peppers tasted good, but we also asked and paid for steak, shrimp, and chicken of which we got so little we had to dig around to find any meat.... and there was no shrimp. They also charged us for, but forgot our cheese dip. It was the very first thing on the ticket. This was especially disappointing since the couple at the bar were singing their praises.
