They were not busy. 3-4 Wait staff standing at the order computer watching For 20 minutes watching us. No server approached us. Finally I Asked for service....for our order to be taken...Only then did our server come to the table. We are vegetarians so the menu is extremely limited. The beans are made with lard...so that is out . The queso sauce is thin and runny ....even when it got cold. It used to become very thick, guess they are stretching it out....too bad. The guacamole is still good. The salsa very good. Is this restaurant sliding into oblivion?? Time will tell. By the inaction of the Wait staff who stood, watching and did nothing, I get the idea that they don't care if the restaurant is successful or not. Pity. Absolute worst experience.. the restaurant was maybe %50 full, we stood at the hostess stand for about 5 minutes as several employees looked at us but said nothing. Not even the "to go" guy standing two feet away. Ok, maybe everyone is just busy (they weren't) finally a guy comes up and gets us to a table. He threw the menus down along with silverware and walked away. A few minutes later another guy walked up holding a bunch of dirty dishes and says "drinks".. we order two soft drinks and he comes right back with them and leaves. (Didn't wash his hands before touching our cups) a couple minutes later a girl comes up and says "what can I get you" . I asked her if she was our waitress and she said yes, I let her know we needed a few minutes. We threw $10 on the table and walked out. So disorganized and literally nobody cared.. would've liked to try the food but the service was SO bad ‍ oh well, not like there isn't 20 thousand Mexican restaurants that have awesome service! This was our second time here, this time around we enjoyed it a bit more. The staff is very friendly, they are attentive without being overbearing! The food was very good, it is a little pricey for Mexican cuisine, but not horrible. The queso here is a favorite as well as their fries! read more

We really enjoyed our dining experience. The staff was very friendly and fast. The margaritas were okay. They came out very fast (a negative for us because it comes poured from a pitcher instead of being made fresh) with only a lime for garnish. The salsa tasted fresh roasted and we loved it. The Queso was nothing to get excited about. It needs a jalapeño for spice. The carna asada had wonderful flavor. Smaller pieces of meat then we usually get, but the price was cheaper. Overall, we'd love to come again. The margaritas may be the only reason we'd choose someplace else. read more

Hopefully this review doesn't get lost in the sauce. 5 starts allllll day. This was our first, but not last, time visiting this establishment. Today, is NYE, and my husbands 30th birthday. New to town, we decided to try this place as it was recommended by a neighbor. We were NOT disappointed. Not knowing much about it, I threw the address into the GPS and headed out with the fam. On our way, I decide to read the reviews on here just to see whats up. The one that was the absolute best was where the one chick who was acting like a Karen about how her group of 14 people were total ass hats to the staff and were asked to leave, was the absolute best. The managers reply was perfect and I knew this was a place I could truly enjoy, because they obviously require you to respect them and take no bull! We show up, loads of cars, but get seated instantly. Our waiter, whos name i never got, was super rad. When my husband was in the bathroom, I told him it was his birthday! He's big old 30th! He said okay I got you. Then when my husband returned, played it cool like I didn't say nothing. He asked if he wanted a drink to celebrate and he ended up getting the bloody marry thats made with beer instead of vodka? Cant recall the name, but he loved it. Lol We ordered our food and it came out super fast, hot and fresh. I got the vegetarian burrito with a chile reyno on the side. My husband got the fajita Texans and my kids got the kid stuff lol. It was all super good. Keep in mind, all Mexican food is not made the same. So come here with an open mind and don't have any expectations, because your feelings will get hurt and thats just bad on you. That said, its not san diego Mexican food, but its damn good Pensacola Mexican food! End of meal, he asks if we need anything else. We say nah just some boxes because them portions are HUGE! He comes back with boxes and the check then takes off. A min later he comes back with his whole crew and a dessert to sing happy birthday to my husband! It was epic, one of the ladies singing to us fed him whip cream on a spoon, then smothered his face with a napkin full of it! Definitely was the highlight of the evening and I was hollering lol. 10/10 will be back. The people here, the food, the prices, atmosphere and everything. Absolutely perfect and definitely made our night. Thanks for being such a fantastic place!! Also, managers, if your reading this let me know if I need to change the star rating. Fantastic as always!!! So exited to see the old Vallartas has resurfaced with a new name, new menu, new location but same great food. When they closed to open up as a "El Paso" spin off trying to capitalize on Vallartas real reputation it was a disaster and I never went back after 3 attempts to like the new place. The food changed, service changed, it all changed except for the name. Now, thank the good Lord I can resume my 2-3 times a week visit to my old Vallartas with the new name! You have been dearly missed by so many! I will warn you, this location is smaller so be prepared for more wait times then before and parking is going to be a problem but I will park down the street and walk to eat here if I have to. read more

This restaurant has a new menu and on the menu, there is a pork carnitas dish that is served with rice, beans, pico de Gallo, guacamole, sour cream, and a choice of corn or flour tortilla. When the dish was served, the rice was missing. Upon inquiring with the Waitress about the rice, she said that it was a choice of rice or beans I said that was not what the menu said and she said that is what is on their system. I guess the customer is supposed to read both the menu and their system and if it was a choice of rice or beans, why she didn't ask if we wanted rice or beans? The right customer service thing to do would have been to get some rice and we would have enjoyed the rest of our meal, but apparently, they would have gone broke if they had brought a customer some rice that was clearly listed on the menu. We got a box, paid the bill, and left the restaurant with a very disappointing experience. read more

My story is on google reviews if anyone is interested. We visited this place on Friday. I wasn't going to review but seeing that they like to attack people that have a genuinely bad experience at their restaurant pushed me to post. So all the more reason to let it be known. I also find it interesting that google reviews vs yelp review star status is like night and day. Something to really wonder about. My complaint is not on the food since we never made it to that point but based on the time we waited and the way they treated us.... we will never go back. Hopefully others that decide to give them a chance get treated as customers should with respect, anticipate their needs and provide immediate action and solutions, not blame. Best carnitas I've had in a very long time amazing flavor and more than I could eat in one sitting. We could actually hear each other not too loud and very comfortable for a Saturday night. Tucán is without a doubt the BEST Mexican in town! The staff is always friendly and the food is always delicious! We have been eating this food for years and years. We were so sad when the former restaurant changed hands, but we were even more excited when Tucán opened. The owners are wonderful, they know their regulars and they always greet customers with a smile! They have had a lot to overcome since they were only open 2 weeks before Covid-19 shut everything down, but they have definitely done their best and exceeded expectations! They are sticking to the guidelines set by our Governor and still servicing the best Mexican in town! I highly recommend stopping by and seeing what they have to offer, remember to be patient especially since they are operating under Covid-19 guidelines still. We love the Steak Burrito Fajita, the beef enchiladas, and the Pollo Loco! They have fantastic chips as well and the perfect salsa, cheese dip, and guacamole to go with it! Absolutely no complaints! Probably the third or fourth turnover of this place since I first have started coming here. The space is about the same....was busy for COVID era environment. Strange sign about not having to wear masks including staff....up to the customer to make their own decision to stay or go. Folks were nice, only about a 10 min wait. Food was good....Fajitas came out hot, tasted good but the steak was tough and chewy. Chimichanga was tasty and not as oily as other places....UPDATE I said strange sign because it is the only one I have encountered like that in the area. I also pointed out that it is up the the customer to decide and obviously we decided to stay. We came because we were informed of your history and we liked going to your former business and do not like going to the new establishment. Meh. Just moved to the area and was looking for some good Mexican food. Some locals recommended this place so gave it a try. Our waitress seemed new and didn't really seem to understand what we were saying and was kind of slow. The food came out fast and was okay tasting with large portions ... however the drinks were AWFUL. My parents got the lime margarita and I got the strawberry one and they all tasted just like sweet powdery juice with no alcohol in them, yuck! read more

Greeting was lukewarm. Quick seating, though and waitress came quickly. Not super friendly. Very slow to come back and check on table. Obviously the wait staff has not learned to appreciate that good service, yields good tips. Margaritas are good, definitely need to be less expensive for the size. Food was good.
