I stopped in for some takeout and rally enjoyed the food. The chips and salsa are the best.

We popped into Cactus for dinner last night and the food was delicious. The portions were huge. The chips and salsa were not your standard big chain Tostitos and the cheese dip was AMAZING. The service was not great. It was a Friday night and we were one of 3 tables. The music was night club loud and I had to yell to be heard. 10/10 recommend the food though. We took a chance on this restaurant on Christmas Eve when our regular Mexican restaurant was closed. Big Mistake. I could tell from the start they were really disorganized. We ordered beef chimichangas....simple enough but it was unrecognizable. Long story short, I don't have anything for dinner and we're out $28. The best part? My son and I had plans to go to Decades Arcade, and he wanted something Mexican before we went. I saw that this was close by, so it was a natural choice. Whew, this was great! I got Los Tres Amigos which comes with your choice of meat. I got the pupusa with pork, the baleada with chorizo, and the taco with steak. All were so amazing. My son got the kids quesadilla which came with rice and beans. The chips and salsa are unique and delicious. I would give this place a negative five if I could. Tonight I stopped in here to grab take out. I got home and had one bite of rice when I noticed something moving. There was a LIVE ROACH in my food. I was in restaurant management for over ten years. This is not ok. If a restaurant is clean and has a regular pest service they will not have this problem. I went back and showed them. Wow. Tried pupusas - AMAZING. And cheap. I ordered three and should have only gotten one. Filling. Happy belly. Family got burritos (huge), fajitas and we filled up! Their guacamole is nice and thick with just the right amount of heat. Their margarita was a generous size. We would definitely come back. On a Saturday, this place was super-busy with latin-american looking diners. That seemed promising. The service took an hour to bring our meal, which is understandable, and we were not in a hurry. The waiter didn't understand us, but after some miscommunication, he realized I am a vegetarian and suggested the Fahitas, which I ordered with the caloric ingredients on the side. I attached pictures of both my lunch and my friend's. I returned with another coworker on a weekday, and the server was bilingual. He directed me to the same entree, which I thoroughly enjoyed again. He also allowed me to sample a jalepeno from the lunch bar. There were only 4 others in the dining area on a Tuesday, and service was thankfully quick. My coworker did not like her entree as much as I did, but she thought the meat was worth taking back to her husband. I also took leftovers. The plates have generous proportions. read more

Excellent authentic Mexican feel and delicious food! Having barbacoa tacos! There's Soccer playing on the screens, it has a nice bar but still with a family feel. Very clean place and friendly staff. Lots of parking. Will return soon for my Mexican fix. read more

Immediately upon entry I began pondering whether or not I was going to spend a lot of money at this restaurant; I did in fact do so. The dynamic is extremely uplifting and reminiscent of Mexico with the authentic food and music. Segwaying towards the food selection, it is nothing short of stupendous. There is a plethora of authentic Mexican style dishes, and overall the quality of food is the best around Charlottesville. 15/10 recommend for anyone looking for authentic style Mexican food that's extremely affordable. I can't comment on the physical location as I have never been, but their fajita beef, refried beans and rice were on point and they make delicious homemade tortilla chips and salsa! Now, I will say that it is hard for me to knock Mexican restaurants, so most Mexican places I will say are worth frequenting. I'm really into that category of food, and I love spicy, so when a dish is delivered with a giant, roasted jalapeno, I'm probably going to enjoy whatever else is on the plate. Additionally, you can tell a lot by a Mexican restaurant based on the chips and salsa. Did these come from a bag, or are they still warm? Is this salsa unique, or run-of-the-mill? I took the family here for breakfast on a Saturday morning and had a great experience. Be warned - they open at 9:00 and not at 8:00 (as posted on their website). Aside from the delayed opening time, we had great service and delicious food. We ordered the eggs with chorizo and a kids plate with a papusa. The tortillas were fresh and delicious - even the chips are made in house. The fact that everything is fresh and homemade made it worthwhile in my opinion. The menu seemed to be more Central American than Mexican in some respects, but everything we ordered was very good and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this place! read more

One of the worst places I've ever been. Grew up in Los Angeles, traveled the southwest., prepped Mexican and SW dishes as personal chef. Today, I walked in at 12:25. Sign says to seat yourself. Did so. Took 5 minutes for server in unbusy place to come to my table. I gave him my order. Granted, there was a part of about 16 who had already put in their orders. But at 1:05, I still hadn't gotten my food. Flagged server down and said I had to get back to work; make order to go. At 1:08, I got oily plastic bag with my order. $8.82 and 5 minutes later, I'm at my office looking at overcooked, flavorless rice, brownish soup that should be refried beans, and less than a quarter pound of tough, gristly beef. My family really like the food and have frequently gotten take out. But our last order was missing a taco and when we called to let them know, instead of apologizing and inviting us to pick up the taco, the restaurant accused us of lying and very reluctantly agreed to offer us a replacement taco. Eight of us ate lunch today for $100, so very reasonable! We were celebrating a family occasion and chose this restaurant as several out-of-Towners love Mexican food. Although we live locally, we had yet to try this. Ignore the fact that it is located in an unassuming shopping center and is small. The food was excellent! Our group had mostly chimichangas and fajitas. The chips were replenished often. The guacamole is great! The facility was clean, the space was not crowded, and having an elderly person with us, I was pleasantly surprised that there was a nice ramp from the floor to the restroom area, and there were two handicapped restrooms! I eat beef tongue tacos on many occasions in many other restaurants. This place make good taco beef tongue. Instead of cooking tongue in lots of oil to make a greasy mess, the tongue seems cooked in its only fat to make for a cleaner taste. Very good! read more

Then we tried getting our checks the lady didn't want to give it to us, she rolled her eyes and made some remark to the gentleman. She asked the gentleman to give us our checks.
