We ate in the Desert something cafe, ordered "Carne Asada Street Tacos" took one bite and the nasty thing CUT MY LIP!! Bloody cut! The waitress asked how our food was, I pushed the tacos at her and told her this "street taco" just cut my lip, showed her...and SHE ASKED IF I WANTED ANOTHER ONE?!? Seriously!?!! No!!! I can't eat now I need ICE! She asked my husband how his prime dip was...it was disgusting dry meat? on a drier bun...with microwaved fries. She came back with a bill and said..."I give you discount for the taco, 3.25, OK?, your bill was 38$ see, now it 34 something!" I looked at the bill, and it has a fucking MILITARY DISCOUNT on it. The tacos were 7.50, I ate less than a half of a NASTY HARD TACO THAT BIT ME BACK...DO NOT EVER EAT AT THIS HOLE IN THE ROAD!!! Or put money in their machines. read more

We stayed here for one night and were very happy with our stay for several reasons. The room was clean, the service was prompt, and everybody who helped us was very friendly. In fact, we left some expensive sunglasses in our room by mistake at checkout, and when we called them about an hour later from the road, they not only were able to locate the sunglasses in our room, but they offered to ship them to us! I have left items in hotels rooms before and have never had them returned to me! Some may comment on the decor, etc., which is a little worn, but Jackpot is not Las Vegas or even Reno so I wouldn't expect it to be brand new. Great stopover place. We did not use the casino but the rooms were clean and comfortable. My only complaint was that one of the two elevators was out of service which was an inconvenience. The RV park is great. Ignore the whiners. For $24 a night you get a wide pull through space with grass on both sides with full hookups. They only have 30 amp service and no cable but what do you want for $24? A great middle of nowhere stop in your rv. This place is first come first serve so the better shaded spots do fill quickly. The restaurant and casino are nothing spectacular but again, what do you expect on a non major highway in a small town. It is great for the price and convenience. read more

I've been interested in this little town for quite some time and I finally decided to visit! We stayed at Cactus Pete's and let me start by saying...we had a GREAT TIME. The customer service was great, the casino floor was perfect, a nice mix of newer and retro machines. Shout out to Desert Room, our food was amazing! We're suckers for a Rueben and a Monte Cristo and you guys nailed it! Our Jacuzzi suit was so nice and clean, larger than expected actually. I've been coming to Cactus Pete's for 38 years. The property used to be well cared for and customers were treated like customers. It's hard to screw up a near monopoly but Penn Gaming just might be able to pull it off. I am going to address several aspects of the property as it currently stands. I knew things were changing when management decided to close the poker room and stuck it in the middle of the sports book. Not only did it ruin both rooms- but management didn't seem to care. They wanted the poker room space for high end slot machines. (High rollers don't typically make Jackpot their terminal destination.) What they've managed to create is a sports book with about 10 stools. The televisions are continually blocked by poker room players standing up and milling about. With so few seats- on high volume days- nobody has a place to sit. I think the most dysfunctional part of the move was that Penn Gaming never considered or consulted players- the people who actually used both rooms. They just followed the lead of a few corporate bean counters. The quality of the food has declined in the Desert Room. The prices have shot up. Three bucks for a cup of coffee. Thirteen bucks for an omelette. Sixteen bucks for a chicken fried steak. Prices at Nosh are very high and the quality of food is poor. The buffet, one of the most expensive anywhere, is all but gone. I don't even know when they actually open the buffet anymore. The best Mexican food in town was at the Horseshu but Cactus Pete's/Penn Gaming closed that too. The property outside is decaying. Walls made of brick are crumbling. The RV park has been completely ignored, no staff, no on site management, the grass is burning up, one space is completely flooded. The state of the rear RV park used to be pristine with nicely mowed grass, edged, and tree limbs trimmed. The RV park has been largely ignored by management. The only thing this place has going for it is the front line workers. The bartenders, servers, dealers are great people. A few of the older managers and casino hosts are excellent. But some of these new, corporate people are terrible. They simply don't seem to remember or care who pays the bills. Honestly, I think they just don't care. The workers, many of them stuck in Jackpot for various reasons are held hostage by this new corporate regime. I don't know how they can stay. The current covid scare is nuts. Security runs around and barks at people to wear their masks. Yet people can still smoke and I suppose blow the dreaded covid virus all over the casino floor. You can eat in the restaurant without a mask. I suppose covid does not exist in restaurants or in plumes of smoke- covid only exists on the casino floor. Scolding guests like little children for forgetting to put their mask on immediately after taking a drink seems to be the focus now. I honestly am afraid to even sip coffee here- I suppose you must sip, put on your mask, sip, put on your mask. Over and over. I have friends and family here. A lot of ties. I'm not sure what is going to happen to this place but what I've seen so far is not what I expected. I was expecting improvements from Penn Gaming. I am still waiting. read more

We stopped here on our way to Yellowstone because my wife had to use the restroom. I assumed it would be a hellhole. When she came back out she mentioned that the place was fairly nice inside. Unfortunately we had reservations that night at a hotel in Twin Falls, so we moved on. On our return trip we experienced some delays on the highway and that left us searching for a place to stay near Twin Falls. I remembered that she said this place looked nice, so we checked for a room. For less money than a night at the Hampton Inn in Twin Falls we got a very nice suite at Cactus Pete's. The room was fresh and clean, nicely appointed with some modern styling. Since we had our teenage sons with us we appreciated the fact that you can walk through the front door and straight into the elevators, without marching children through a casino. We felt confident letting them stay in the room while we went for a nice dinner and a few laughs in the casino. The staff was polite. The rooms are clean and did not smell like smoke. The casino has serve yourself soda fountains and a typical assortment of games, as well as blackjack, roulette, craps and a few other tables. The poker room also seemed to be popular. The pool area also looked very nice. Overall the value was excellent. This is a great place to stop if you're trekking or just looking for a nice night out. read more

This review is for the amazing, spectacular seafood buffet on April 22nd. All the superlatives in the world could not do this buffet the justice it deserves. This is coming from two people who wintered in FLORIDA and did not have seafood as good as this buffet! And we were in Las Vegas last month and I mean no casino on or off The Strip had fresher seafood, perfect salad bar (with shrimp and caviar) gelato, gluten free cheesecake, and beautifully prepared prime rib. I'm sure there was other stuff there but we stuffed ourselves on the snow crabs, blue point oysters, mussels in pesto, and steamers. To top it off, we got the player's card and will play the $15 in free money, then roll ourselves back to our RV (free parking with the truckers or you can go into their reasonably priced RV park) and surf using their free wifi. Coming back from Las Vegas we stayed the night here, one thing that is different about this place is that they have bellhops handling your luggage, and you don't have access to the luggage carts as its just for the bellhops, which since they were fast was no issue IMO. In regards to the room, it was VERY nice room, although did smell cig smoke so someone had smoked in the room at some time. The Casino itself has your standard casino games, and the slots were very nice to me, you get $15 in free play for signing up for their player's club, and the machine I was on gave me over $50!!! We booked a non-smoking tower king, and the overall I would say that the room was fine. Wasn't the cleanest room I've ever stayed in, but it was fairly up to date with all of the standard amenities. The WiFi was also fairly fast for what you would expect in a hotel, so that was nice. read more

I made a reservation online. i am handicapped, but in the main building that doesn't pose a problem. They put me in the one up on the hill. I was there without transportation, so had to walk to the restaurant. The clerk said I didn't specify that I wanted in the main building and it said online I would be on the hill. That was a lie. Online said "We offer pet friendly rooms on the hill". I don't appreciate being lied to. I won't go back. Although they had plenty of open spaces while other campgrounds were full and the staff was very friendly, I wouldn't stay here again. The upper lot has no bathrooms so you have to walk to the casino. The lower lot is next to the airport so you have flashing lights and barking dogs from the trailer park next door. The grass is dead and has no picnic table. No shade or any privacy between spaces. Generators have no off hours. You really are just in a parking lot. Since we didn't need hook ups we should have just parked with the big rigs. read more

RV Park Review: Small town, but if you are RVing and need somewhere to park for the night, this is a decent spot. Full hookups, bathhouse with clean bathrooms and showers, and even a laundry room. The only con to staying here would be that if you check in after the RV park office is closed, you have to check in at the hotel front desk. It's not a super close walk to the front desk and the staff at the front desk do not give you information about your spot. The did not relay the password for the bathhouse and when asked about the wifi they said it was "open" so anyone could use it, which wasn't true. One last note: the spots are stacked (meaning you pull through and have to share that pull through with another party - 2 campsites per pull through). read more

We reserved a room on the way to Idaho and the negative reviews are something I should have paid attention to. Our room was dirty!!! Hair on the counters and tub.. and the carpet was filthy. Why not remove the stains instead I had to wear shoes the whole time. Also at checkout i reviewed my bank statement and noticed I was double charged. After speaking to the front desk and her mentioning "I don't know how this happened" she went to get someone named Elvis. Not sure if Elvis is a manager or not but he was no help at all and all he could say was to wait 5-10 days to see what my bank decides to do. Three stars because they book a weekend with us and didn't tell us it was in the hotel across the street, not verbally that is, and that hotel smells like something gross and I wonder if it's the mold in the shower on the ceiling they need to paint and get rid of the mold. The place was empty they so not have check In there only at Cactus Pete's. The pandemic is over but the Antelope and Buffalo hotel needs to be updated and remolded. The beds are clean and somewhat comfortable but the mattresses could be replaced with new ones. The pool isn't open and they don't tell u that but you go to Cactus Pete's and everyone there is enjoying the pool. The steak and seafood restaurant you need reservations to eat there is cost us for two meals and two drinks $132 dollars and the Desert restaurant has way better food and prices and service. The other place is not all that, the waitress was nice but it's not worth the price on the food and drinks and the waiter was alright but he asks if you have reservations and I felt the food was bland and the Prime Rib was tough. ok so my husband and I are in a semi and looking to take off our 34 hours off. it was one of the best 34 hours off we have spent. Front desk They were very courteous and quick to get us to our room. Rooms /absolutely beautiful nice showers, good water pressure, body wash, conditioner and shampoo already included hanging right on the walls in pumps.Beds were very comfortable to. Casino CoCatalino waitresses were very friendly. Peat was one of the table games manager and was absolutely wonderful.Plenty of table games. Modern slots, as well as some of the old favorites.Very clean machines. Dining Large portions and wonderful people excellent staff, in all the establishments. This is our yearly stop from Idaho to California for Labor Day. My husband and I were in line at the buffet with one couple in front of us and NO ONE behind us. They processed the couple in front of us and then told us that they were now closed. I looked at my phone and it was 9:30 exactly. Not even 9:31. This was a very busy casino as the hotel was sold out and the rv park was also. Makes me bummed they couldn't accommodate with the long weekend. We walked over to the steakhouse. The hostess let us know that they took their last reservation at 9:30. I asked if there were any 9:30 reservations left and she said no. *There were 3 empty table. It was 9:31pm. Clearly customer service at these 2 restaurants are not a priority. The ladies at the players counter were sweet, Josh at the RV check in was polite and since we ended up at the Desert restaurant the hostess and Alisa were on point. I thought the machines were very tight though we gamble on 2 different occasions Friday and the again on Sunday. Which neither day we had a sense of winning.
