Lorelei did a blowout and haircut for my daughter today. My daughter wanted to try some layers but nothing too extreme, and Lorelei did an amazing job by adding subtle layers only at the ends. We were so happy with the results! She also added some tinsel to her hair, which my daughter absolutely loved. So incredibly disappointed. Booked with a groupon and was charged more than what was agreed on. The stylist did a service on me that was extra and wasnt told. And the stylist admitted it was wrong and apologized. When it was time to pay for the service, i had spoken to the manager. Off the bat i was spoken to with attitude and unprofessionalism. They couldnt keep their story straight and was trying to make me feel stupid. Fortunately it didnt work with me. I feel absolutely horrible for the employees having to call someone like that their boss/manager. Cannot imagine the toxic environment. Its a good salon but maybe go for another location. Because if you had any concerns, you'll get treated like you're not a valued client. (By the manager) If thats how she really talks to her customers, someone needs to be aware. My husband went there last week because he was in town doing errands....thought it would be ok. Has been going to salon in Woodbury for more than 10 years-- and has had exceptional haircuts. The woman who cut his hair had 40 years experience. No question... this was the worst haircut he has had in our 25 years of marriage. Not only was he scalped... when he told her not too short... the back was completely uneven. Absolutely disgusting that someone so incompetent is working there. What an awful experience. Amazing experience! I booked with a groupon at a different location than I went to (for my daughter) and they still took her anyway, at that same time. Everyone there was so nice and welcoming and insanely accommodating! My daughter has a TON of hair and was there for 5 hours for full highlights! Lorelei did her hair and she was FANTASTIC! Stay away from Kim and the Cactus Salon on Main Street in Huntington. I was treated terribly because I purchased a Groupon for a blowout. The Groupon clearly states can not have been there within 12 months. I was there 14 months ago. She waited until my hair was wet to embarrass me in front of the other customers. When I made the appointment I was told I could use the Groupon. They need to change wording on Groupon. Customers should never be treated that way. I recently moved out of the city and away from my stylist of 14 years. Needless to say, I was TERRIFIED of trying someone new! I am very particular about my blonde highlights and cuts and I explained that to Toni when I walked in one day to schedule an appointment. She set me up with Maureen and I could NOT be happier with my amazing results! Maureen took the time to look at photos and listen to me describe the look I wanted before she touched one hair on my head. At the end of that appointment, it was ALMOST perfect. And you know what? Two days later, Toni called to check if I was happy! When I told her I could use a tweak, they brought me back in and Maureen made it TOTALLY perfect! (At NO CHARGE - and she wouldn't even accept a tip!) I absolutely love my highlights, the cut and how healthy and bouncy my hair looks. DON'T GO! This was my first time going to Cactus, and will definitely be my last. I had my hair dyed from brown to a pink balayage. I showed her multiple examples of EXACTLY what I wanted and my hair honestly is botched. I could have done it myself. The pink highlights faded in a week, when I was told they would last at least one-two months depending on how well I took care of it. I did exactly what she said as far as washing my hair with cold water, I bought the recommended shampoo and conditioner, and in that week I washed my hair 3 times. In addition, the actual process of dying my hair was awful. I have long hair so I expected to be there for a while, but Lili barely said a word to me the entire time- instead she called over members of the staff and talked to them! She pulled my hair and had my neck in the most awkward and uncomfortable position the entire time she put the bleach in. The bleached hair looks awful there are 2 random strips of blonde on the top of my hair in the front and back, meanwhile the rest of the bleach starts about 2 inches from the top of my head. It's to the point where I can't even wear it down. I now have to get my hair redone after spending almost $300 on something I could have done in my bathroom for $30. read more

I just wanted to start off by stating that someone is looking for a freebie. I have been going to Natasha for 5 years and I have had an exceptional experience when dealing with my hair. My hair was a hot mess and with Natasha's care my hair is EXACTLY where I want it to be and in HEALTHY condition! It was such a process to get my hair to where it was but she did it the healthy way instead of frying it like other hairdressers do. I went here because I wanted to get those feather extensions and this is the only place I found that did them. I fell in love with Barbra Ann, she always asks what you like, is this ok. She wants to please her costumers, she also takes classes to be up to date on the latest trends. She turned me on to my latest hair, the ombre effect. I highly recommend her and I am very picky, with my hair! I took my girlfriend to her also and she fell in love with her as well. The shampoo girls, ah, few times they didn't ask if the water was ok and it kept getting in my ears. I think the one girl was very new and stressed so. Maybe I just went on bad days. I purchases a Groupon for a shellac manicure and regular pedicure. The pedicure turned out well, but the manicure isn't the best. Some of the color bled into my cuticle and the ends of my nails have the color cleaned off from when the nail technician was trying to fix her mistake of accidentally polishing the tip of my finger. For $25 I can't complain too much. It is near impossible to get a shellac manicure and full pedicure for $25 unless you take a chance getting a Groupon know a salon you don't know. AWFUL....they do not know what they are doing when it comes to hair. I waited 30 minutes after my appointment for the stylist to waste another 20 minutes wondering how to highlight my hair...oh and they burned my scalp so badly I literally had blisters throughout my whole head. NICE...I told them I was in pain and she kept being too rough with my hair anyways. Rikki used strange technique and I told her many times not to cut so much, but she said she just made "waives". All my friends where shocked. She cut half of my length and made one side longer then the other side because she didn't compare what she cut. I needed to go back to this place and fix my hair. I went to Cactus to get a devacut. I have curly hair and I would like to find a hairdresser that I like, and is also very knowledgeable about the cutting, styling, and coloring of curly hair. As suggested by the devacurl salon finder, I decided to give Cactus a call and make an appointment with Alison. I went there on two different occasions. The first appointment was to get a devacut, it was okay. I found Alison to be pretty quiet and nothing like any hairdresser I've ever talked to - she had absolutely no desire to enhance my appointment with any type of interesting conversation. When I walked out of the salon, the styling of my hair was nothing special, it actually was kind of crunchy, ew. But, whatever, trial and error. Then, a few weeks later I decided I wanted pintura - curly hair highlights, and that I would give Cactus & Alison another try. Alison knew what pintura meant, she knew what I wanted. I ended up with highlights that were, in my opinion, a little streaky, but nothing at all horrible. That's all well and good, but the reason why I gave this review 1 star is because of Alison's attitude, personality, etc. She completely and totally judged me after she learned of my financial status, through questions SHE asked. This is a topic that is none of her business, and her responses and demeanor made the whole situation extremely uncomfortable and awkward. I felt horrible and I knew I wasn't going back to Alison or Cactus. To me, her behavior was unacceptable. read more
