Cactus spa was truly amazing. I opt to get the deep tissue in sport 80 minute massage within the first 15 minutes I was asleep let's talk about it. Lol When we first entered the spa lobby area, you can smell all the mints and freshness, all of the relaxation and all of the ZenZEN!! we were greeted immediately and asked to fill out some paperwork before being taken back to change our clothes in the nice locker area for women. DEEP TISSUE & SPORTS 80 MINS- Vigorous and deep rhythmic pressure massage is ideal for those experienced in massage, focused on relieving specific stress and muscle tension. Pro-tip: Bring your cash tip for your therapist in your spa robe so you can give it to them right after your massage. Enjoyed a $50 minute deep tissue massage during a trip. The location was easy to get to on the pool level just down a small set of stairs. Friendly service at the front desk. After check-in, was escorted into the men's locker room to change and shown where to go and wait for my therapist. After changing, I entered a co-ed area to wait for my therapist. It was nice and fine for me, but I did notice a few women react to it being co-ed. Enjoyed my massage immensely. The massage therapist was great, helpful, and communicative. She adjusted the pressure for my massage until it was what I needed depending on the region. The warm blankets, hot towels, and aromatherapy really relaxed me. The massage: Thankfully I did not read the reviews prior to coming and I had a good time. My massage was by Marlene who was amazing. She kept asking me about the pressure and made sure I was ok with the room temperature. Before the massage she made sure to check with me about my areas of concern and she did everything to make it a positive experience. Marlene's customer service was great! The only criticism I could give is that perhaps she could give a little warning when massaging my butt and piriformis muscles in my gluteus Maximus and my massage therapist at Nobu was a touch more professional in her ability to cover me up at all times including when I was turning over. But Marlene was an amazing masseuse and I would come back again and again just for her to be my masseuse. The massage rooms: they are nice with relaxing music and the ambiance matches the whole hacienda theme. The only complaint I might have is that maybe 20mins towards the end of my massage I could hear some talking from the hallway (not sure if thin walls or what was the issue) the spa facility: they have 3 small pools: one for cold plunge, one warm tub at medium 91F degree, and one hot tub at 104F degree. The pool area had a nice waterfall that reminds me of a jungle. However, the floor was very wet and slippery with no signs. There were towels laid out in front of the pools, but those were soaking wet and did nothing for the 1 inch pool of water on the tiles. They encourage you to wear the robe and slippers but to me it doesn't make sense to wear those to the pool area. As I was exiting, I did see a small "caution wet floor" placard right under the door handle leading out of the pool area, but I feel like having the sign at the exit is kind of too late- I'd already have slipped multiple times if I wasn't carefully walking like a penguin. They also have a steam room and a sauna which were your run of the mill spa facilities. For quenching your thirst, they have only one water option that was not labeled, but it was dark greenish blackish and I did not care for the flavor. They did not have regular water but thankfully I had brought my own bottled water. read more

I recommend the massages only here. This review is for the nail services. I requested only a gel polish change and it took over an hour and she completely filed my nails down to all different lengths and completely uneven. I didn't asked for my nail shape to be changed or filed. Not happy at all about how my nails turned out. Husband had a pedicure and wasn't too pleased. They are behind the times of having the tools to enhance the service and decrease the time. No electric tools used. Only nail files by hand; even for the pedicure (heels??!! C'mon!) I only went here because my polish chipped off. Will not go here again for nails. read more

Place is super cute but I was charge twice for my "rebozo" massage which I did not get instead I got the tequila massage. Then when I was paying I gave a cash tip to the masseuse but I wanted to give her more so I wrote in my ticket 200 pesos tip the cashier charged me 400 pesos instead of 200 pesos. I told her and she got upset, so I told her this is not a mistake the 2 is far away from the 4 , and I have cash to the masseuse. Then when I review my bank statement I got charged 2 times for the 1 massage. I will recommend that you pay cash but the messages are not good. Besides you will not get what you asked for. If you want to protect your loved ones from sexual assault then do not schedule them for a massage at Cactus Spa in the Sheridan Hacienda Del Mar. Seeing a guest running from the spa crying uncontrollable last week is heart breaking. Hearing a guest say they were just sexually assaulted last week is something no one ever wants to hear. The receptionist would not allow any other guest to talk to or console the crying victim. The staff appeared to be more concerned about protecting their business and name than protecting the guest victim. The management was more concerned about keeping the name of the resort out of the police report than helping the guest who was just sexually assaulted. I would caution all females to cancel any spa appointments at the Cactus Spa. read more

Cactus Spa in the Sheridan Hacienda Del Mar was a lovely experience for me. I was wanting to get my hair braided (corn rows) and thought what not a better place to do it was the spa. As I entered the spa, the people greeted me very warmly. I asked to get my hair braided half way. They had an open spot right away, and they led me into a room filled with light only from the windows. A women met me and started braiding my hair. She did not tug on my hair but was very gentle with it which I appreciated. She asked me what colored rubber bands I wanted (to hold the braids in place). Once she was done, (it took about half an hour) I left the room where I was getting my hair braided and went back to the front desk to pay the fee of $40.00. Very happy with my new hair, I enjoyed the rest of my day. The next morning, I woke up to found that one of my rubber bands had fell out, so I went back to the spa. They gladly replaced the rubber band for me and I went to go swimming. A few hours later, I felt my braids to see that 3 rubber bands had broke. Panicked, I went back to the spa. Once again, they gladly replaced the rubber bands and this time, the women but two rubber bands in so that they wouldn't fall out. Satisfied, I left. I went back swimming, then, a while later, I realized yet another 2 rubber bands had fallen out! I rushed back to the spa to tell the man at the front desk. He told us this never happens, and that he would get us another reservation. Since we had no time to redo my hair, he gave us some rubber bands so if they ever fell out again we could fix it. He also told us he would talk to his manager to ask him what he could do to make our experience better, and that he would call us in less than a half an hour. No more then 15 minutes later, we got a phone call from the people at the spa saying since there was so much hassle with my hair, they would not charge us. I appreciated this so much. So even though the process was a pain, the Cactus spa redeemed themselves by giving me a refund. Overall, I enjoyed Cactus spa. read more

Sexually assaulted while getting a massage at the Cactus Spa. This was a horrific experience. The receptionist at the spa reacted to a sobbing client by staring coldly, and intervening and actively preventing another customer from helping-no compassion at all and she did not seem surprised in any way-makes one wonder whether this is a repeat occurrence. After requesting a female hotel manager, a male hotel manager also arrived and was incredibly insensitive, giving no privacy and insisting the masseuse was a long time employee with no complaints (NOT helpful). Received no assurances the attacker would be put on leave pending an investigation. Later that night someone attempted to gain entry to the room, then knocked and claimed to be room service, but no room service had been ordered and what kind of room service tries to get into your room at 11:30pm?? Could not get out of the hotel soon enough-sense of safety shattered. Absolutely no follow up from anyone with the hotel in spite of 3 managers demanding interviews and a written statement. Had a massage the prior day at Cactus Spa, with a different masseuse, and it was fine. Please use extreme caution at this facility. read more

Cactus Spa at Hacienda Del Mar is fabulous!! The interiors are warm, inviting, and immaculate. Any room I visited was calming, peaceful, and very clean. Maricela gave me a most excellent deep tissue massage. She is very professional, but friendly. Most of my aches and pains disappeared under her touch. I highly recommend Maricela. They also served a delicious and refreshing infusion of cactus water and pineapple juice which is supposed to help relieve inflammation. I wish I could find cactus water here in the States. This was a very positive experience and I do recommend Cactus Spa. read more
