This place is horrible! The vibes were nice at first but the service sucks. The main boss person was absolutely so rude to my group even before we were sat down. As we were sitting, we were ignored multiple times and had to wait over an hour for service. The waiters are nice but the guy who seems like he is the main manager is an evil spirit. The waiters even seem scared of him! We watched many people leave as soon as they were seated just because of how horrible the staff was to them. Absolutely horrible place. Not worth the money. Paris, je t'aime! Yes, I was a tourist walking along Champs Elysées. Shops and restaurants everywhere! We decided to walk along and the waiters always try to coax us in. I being a french onion soup fanatic was on the hunt to find some! Café George V's menu caught my eye. My friend and I split a sandwich there which was just perfect. The service was great, they were attentive and quick. They offered us some drink specials, but beware because the drinks are overpriced to me. However, do not be fooled when they say "air-conditioned" because it's not. Now to the best part, the French Onion Soup was the MOST AMAZING I've ever had in my life! Trust me, I've had plenty a variety of French Onion Soup. I honestly would come back here again just to eat this deliciousness again. The portion was large, the cheese was perfect, the broth was a good consistency, and the bread was the right amount. It was PERFECT! I would have to agree with the majority of Yelpers that this is 3/5 stars. The service I experienced was not memorable ( they kept on forgetting items I ordered and kept on giving me wrong tabs when it was time to go. Maybe it was because they never write down anything you order and take multiple orders at a time. I don't know how they would remember, and it's definitely apparent they don't . There was a point we even doubted ourselves l but the diners next to us confirmed they heard what we had ordered. Walking down the popular long shopping streets and enjoying the crowds, we finally found a place to dine and seek some warmth out of the cold weather. Worrying that food might be on the high side at this tourist place, we diligently search through our mobile applications and visited Cafe George V for dinner. They have both indoors and Alfresco dining just that during the cold seasons. Worry not if you are in the cold weather, the retractable awning fell in place with the mounted heater will keep you away from the cold even if you are dining outside. We had our seats indoors and had a good time experiencing the bustling life of the cafe in the city. Though the table and seat maybe a tad narrow for 2 of us in our bulky cold wear and camera bags, we still manage to make ourselves comfortable even at awkward position. We had ordered Onion Soup and was excited about it. Felt a sense of contentment to have soup in the french lion head soup bowl. Simply love its caramelized onion and the sweet meat stock served with generous amount of cheese on top. Soupe gratinee a l' oignon ~ Onion Soup - 10.0 € As we were without drinks during shopping, the Strawberry shake was emptied soon it was served. Pretzel biscuits was served together with the milk shake too. Strawberry Milkshake - 10.0 € The first time that I have seen steak pairing with sunny side up eggs. Minced steak was surprisingly cook to its perfect texture at our preferred done-ness with thick cut fries and salad as sides. Dressing for salad is separately placed and you can add them accordingly to your liking. I like the chocolat viennois. I never felt rushed here. I once watched a Japanese couple eat lunch but most who sat outside only drank coffee. My uncle liked to spend hours at a sidewalk table with the consuls for Thailand and Vietnam. When he forgot his bag here he ran back and it was still there. I would draw on postcards while drinking many glasses of rum and coke here. I wouldn't call it a tourist trap. It costs more to drink or eat outside than inside but I've never gone in there. This review is a little late but I just found the name of this cafe. I was in Paris on Christmas Day 2016. I was walking down the Champs Elysees and most everything was closed except the Christmas Markets and a few cafes. I popped in and got some lunch and champagne. My lunch was good and I decided to order dessert since I had heard wonderful things about French pastries and I hadn't had any. I don't remember the name of what I ordered but I uploaded a picture. This was the BEST dessert I've ever had. Ever. 3 years later and I still dream about this amazing creation. I haven't been back to Paris since that day but I promise I WILL return here and enjoy this heavenly dessert again. On top of that, the service was very good even though it was crazy busy. We walked around for a while trying to find a decently priced and great atmosphere dinner place before our show at the Crazy Horse. We ended coming back here after we walked a few blocks and had no luck finding anything on a Monday night. We are sooooo happy we did! The service was quick and very attentive. Had a lively atmosphere and great selection of wine and food. They messed up my order, gave me the sea bream instead of the grilled squid. They were very apologetic and offered to give me my order within 15 min. We were running late and had no time to wait for the food to cook. I ate the sea bream which was delicious and the manager comp my meal. This was super nice since other places that have messed up our order just brushed off their mistake and didn't do anything to make it better. We will definitely be coming back here again! I have been to Paris many times, and am usually a little leery of restaurants in this tourist area. However, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience here. The staff was friendly and spoke good English, the food was great, and the toilet was clean. In Paris, it doesn't get much better than this. I had the croque madame, which came with a side salad. Tip for any tourists, the first day will be the most challenging especially when it comes to weeding out the tourist trap places. If there is one thing I learned after three weeks across Europe is to avoid the places where the waiters are super aggressive in getting you to sit. We were really hungry and tired of walking so we agreed to eat here. I don't want to sound like a snooty American but the service here was the absolute worst received as they were abrasive and rude. I am happy to report this was the ONLY place while in Paris where that was experienced. Everywhere else, everyone was friendly and cordial. I had a ham and cheese sandwich on a croissant and it tasted like it was made for campers heading to a day at the lake. My parents split a margherita pizza and said that it was decent. It is almost disgraceful how many French establishments try to take advantage of Americans. First off €14,50 for a shot of Jack Daniels? That is an absurd price anywhere you go. A friend of mine used to live in Paris and told me to try this place. He said you don't have to spend a fortune dining on the champ Elysées and he was right. This cafe was just a few blocks down from the Arc du Triumphe and great for people watching. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. We ordered croque Monsieur, croque Madame and Margarita pizza. This couldn't be better. We actually planned to find Asian thingy after been spending few days without having any rice or noodle. Yet, kids were craving for pizza or pasta instead, so here we went instead. Table was so little, yet this gave you the real experience to feel the Parisian life as you are here in the heart of Avenue des Champs-Élysées. Food was surprisingly very good, especially the steak bourguignon and the margherita pizza. Their cafe au lait is no joke for coffee lover. Food was good, space was clean and ambiance was good for a late dinner (I ate there at 11:30pm). They did not scoff at my clearly American accent and there is excellent people watching on Champs Elysées despite the late hour. I had a Croque Madame and a side salad. There was a rowdy group next to me, who upon leaving one of them literally fell to the floor and could not exit the premises - cue iPhone cameras everywhere for an epic snapchat story. It was pretty great to watch as the waiters attempted to covertly escort (or carry) her out the door, by telling them to "give them a big hug" (read: LET ME CARRY YOU). Not my greatest moment. After having been vegetarian since January 2016, we "cheated" on March 6 by having escargots. Fortunately, it was quite tasty with their preparation. We enjoyed the escargots with a couple glasses each of Pommery. The pommery is overpriced at 16.50 per glass, though we didn't want to purchase an entire bottle of something better as it was just an afternoon snack. Worst customer service I have ever had in my life. They gave us a horrible and very hard steak, so hard that my mother in law couldn't eat it. The manager came to our table and forced her keep trying because in his opinion she wasn't cutting it right (like we had never eat a steak before). I had to step in and tell him that I was going to dispute the whole transaction with my credit card company for him to finally offer her to try a different plate.
