Amazing restaurant with a great family atmosphere. The husband and wife that own this are the most delightful people and the food is a delicious cultural experience. We enjoyed the coffee as well!

I hadn't had Ethiopian food for maybe 8 years or so when I lived in NC, and I had been thinking about it, so I was excited when I saw a friend recommended this newish place in Ohio! It is about a half hour away, so it's not necessarily convenient, but it was well worth the drive! The coffee "caviar" was smooth and flawless. The food was good - my son and I had the steak which came with beets, salad greens, rice, and of course injera, which is my fave. It is a spongy, sourdough type of bread that is a different texture and flavor from typical bread. We got our food to-go, so the food was in separate "compartments", but usually everything is laid out on top of the injera and it soaked up the juices and gravies of all the food. Seriously, yummy. Food came out very fast. Cozy ambiance- I read my son a book about Ethiopia while we waited. Very friendly service. I believe Josh is the name of the guy working there and he is warm and welcoming.

The interior vibes are the same; open, spacious, and clean. However, the food and most importantly, the staff, no longer maintain the quality that made me a regular in the first place. Artisan used to have amazing coffee and excellent food, but the coffee is no longer very good. I think this is due to the staff. The food has significantly declined in quality. The hollandaise on their breakfast sandwich is now a broken, greasy mess. The "sourdough" is generic white bread. What's even worse than the food is the staff. In the last two years, the staff has degenerated to an incompetent , bedraggled mess. The staff has never had to wear a uniform, but perhaps it's time for them to institute one. In my last several visits, I've seen grossly oversized clothes that have the staff looking like they just rolled out of bed. Hair is unkempt, not brushed, loose, and hanging down past their shoulders. A recipe for getting hair in my food. Furthermore, the staff is no longer smiling or friendly and can't answer basic questions about the menu. They seem confused about where they are and the service they provide. On top of all this, they maintain their strict breakfast timeframe. Why they have decided to stick to antiquated time limits for the food that is always available in their kitchen is beyond me. The barest minimum of market research would show how popular breakfast sandwiches are all day. What once was a vibrant, friendly coffee shop with great food, good coffee, and pleasant employees now feels like a dressed up McDonalds.

This place is a charmer for sure and has a vibe to it that is cozy. The space itself is larger than what I was expecting and it was nice that they offered additional parking across the street as their lot is small and gets full very quickly. The space also has a stage and lots of windows for natural light which I loved. The baristas were all very friendly and knowledgeable about the different drinks and what they offered, which was really nice. Unfortunately, I did not try any food, but their menu offers a wide range of breakfast and lunch options including sandwiches, soups, bakery and more. I reached for the cold brew and a friend got a lavander matcha lattee. The drinks were good, nothing out of this world but I was glad they offered additional cream, sugar, etc out in the open in case people decided they wanted to add anything to their drinks. They offer a wide range of drinks including some really interesting specialty drinks which all sound fun to try. Overall, Artisan Coffee is a cute, charming coffee shop that offers a wide variety of food and drink and I am sure you will find something you enjoy at this cafe. If I am ever in the area again, I would definitely consider coming back here to sit down rather than to-go.

We shared the samosas ($4) and 2 combos (one had 2 vegan dishes for $10.99 and another had 1 vegan with spicy beef stew for $12.99. My favorite dish was the samosas--though they were small, loved the crispy exterior and spicy lentil filling. Both the combos came with injera--with a spongy pancake-like texture that served as a vehicle to deliver the food into our mouths (rather than utensils). The vegan dishes (choose the cabbage, red lentils, and chickpeas) and spicy beef stew were all good, but if I had to choose favorites, I would pick the chickpeas (reminded me of warmed up hummus) and the spicy beef stew. The decor was nice, on theme with the food, though the bathrooms were a bit outdated (had to stop in there to wash my hands since you traditionally use your hands to eat). Service was decent. Parking available as free street parking. Good option with decent pricing for those wanting to dine with vegan options or those craving Ethiopian food.
