I've tried this place for lunch at their old location and thought it was swell back then. Now they have a cute tucked away new location by Lock 3 amphitheater. Their bibimbap bowl is so good and flavorful. Highly recommend this! This time I tried their iced blueberry wildflower herbal infusion and it was pretty good! Okay so if it's your first time, it's very hard to find! It's down in that sort of concert valley, amphitheater, outdoor area, off and down from the street. Kitchen, real food doesn't start until 1030. So essentially I went twice today lol On the first round, I got an iced Americano with a tablespoon of condensed milk, which was plenty sweet enough, and the espresso had really good, strong flavor. My daughter got the seasonal blueberry wildflower tea, it was a beautiful purple color, but it was a little too sweet for me. There is the option to add lemonade to the tea, but that would've made it so sweet. We also got a bagel with cream cheese and a Rainbow rice crispy just to get a little bite before we came back to order the real food. Once the kitchen was open, we went back, I got the iced coconut Matcha with Boba. It was really really good and quenching. We got all our food to go, the vegetarian fried dumplings, bibimbap with beef, a papaya salad and a veggie bahn mi. It was all very good, the papaya salad was not spicy at all. Next time I would forgo the meat on the bibimbap, all of this food had such great flavor, no meat needed. The guys working the register on both occasions were so patient and helpful. They were not annoyed at my questions at all. Only complaint is they need to be open in the evenings so I can get this for dinner! First of all the traditional Bahn Mi is perfectly executed. The bread is soft and pillowy inside and crunchy (but not stale or tough on the outside)...it's delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful and my food came out quickly. Excellent service. The location is small and kitschy. The only drawback is that it's located on the lower level of a parking garage adjacent a children's museum making it difficult to get to from the street. It's tucked in under the State Street Parking Deck and faces the Lock 3 Park. Enter the State Street Parking Deck and park. Came here for the banh mi. Tried the Korean beef and the Dac Biet (pork/chicken). I loved the Dac Biet--served warm with some nice traditional flavors and nice bread to go with it. The contents of the sandwich were quite generous, but would actually have loved a little more bread ratio. Sad to say the Korean beef was a bust--too wet that it made the top of the sandwich bun completely soggy. I also found it too sweet. This below ground eatery has a nice casual vibe.. I purchased an espresso macchiato here. At least I thought I did. At first they wanted to charge me almost 5 dollars for it. Similar to a latte. I'm like no no no this is going to be one shot of espresso with literally a speck of milk in it. They made it and it was more like a Cortado with extra milk. They made it again and this time it was more like a Cortado with milk, not an espresso macchiato. Unfortunately, they really don't have any idea what that is here. A good coffee shop will always know what this drink is and have it available. The presentation was poor. The flavor was mostly of milk very mild. I would not come back to this coffee shop. This coffee shop is for people who like high sugared up drinks like a Starbucks macchiato with lots of simple syrup, etc. Not a true coffee shop. Are you overcharged me for a one shot espresso macchiato too in my opinion. Especially for what I received. Typically a one shot macchiato is $1.75 to $2.50 tops. The staff was exceptional, though. Very friendly and accepting to trying to make an espresso macchiato. They were very pleasant. I give the staff five for friendliness. Whoever owns this coffee shop definitely needs to have more training though regarding real coffee. Coffee you can actually taste like an Italian roast or a French roast. The bread is a French baguette and goes really well with the veggies and meat. All food items and drinks are made to order. Many unique sandwiches here. Due to following COVID guidelines, there isn't indoor dining available right now. It was a 10 minute ride home, and the Vietnamese coffee was still cold with plenty of ice and the sandwich stayed warm. Evelyns not only serves coffee, boba, and smoothies... but also is an authentic and fast stop for some AMAZING Vietnamese food. The owner was so sweet, the Vietnamese iced coffee is crazy good. They were able to make me a bahn mi sandwich which without meat since they don't have a veggie bahn mi on their menu yet, but mine was beyond satisfying. The bread on those sandwiches is PHENOMENAL! And the atmosphere is so cute and sweet, definitely would be such a great study spot for Akron students, or a great place to catch up with a pal once it's seating reopens,! This place is AMAZING. Found it randomly while walking around downtown after an afternoon Rubber Ducks game and could not be more pleased I stopped in! I almost went by the building...it is very unassuming. Went down and, after staring at the menu unable to choose, finally decided on a Vietnamese iced coffee and a taro milk tea with tapioca added. The barista was extremely accommodating and friendly, even offering to make the tea special with coconut milk instead of using the normal creamer powder. It was so good! A little less sweet than usual which was perfect. And the Vietnamese iced coffee was probably the best iced coffee I've tried in the Akron area. And so affordable too! I definitely want to try some of the food next time as well...there were several people in picking up to go orders when I was there and it smelled great. I can't wait to go back. Checked out this awesome new Mom and Pop coffee shop in downtown Akron. Tucked into an unassuming corner with free parking off to the side, this is a cute little coffee shop that specializes in Vietnamese coffee, sweet, strong and creamy. They also have traditional coffee items and pastries as well as some authentic southeast Asian street foods like multiple varieties of Ban Mi sandwiches. My favorite was the chicken meatball but we also enjoyed the Dac Biet. There was no jalapeños in the sandwiches, but I didn't miss them. Taro milk tea with Boba was creamy and delicious, not too sweet which I appreciated. Papaya Salad was delicious--crunchy tart and and refreshing. We also enjoyed the Vietnamese salad, and actually enjoyed putting it into our Banh Mi's. My kids went to town on the Boba tea. The staff were polite and professional and hygienic precautions were followed. There is no sit down dining for now but they say that they will open it up as the pandemic hopefully lessens. Overall this is a great place, locally owned and cooks who are literally like little Vietnamese moms and dads. Well worth a visit! I wish I lived closer. read more
