We ordered here many time and the last time was about a year ago. Back then the pizza was dried out and tasted like it was stale so we stayed away. Today we wanted to give it another try. We ordered with extra cheese which didn't have extra cheese on it and again it was a big disappointment. It tasted like it was either stale or reheated. The food was OK. The service was, well, there was no service. Our dinners came out before we finished our salad. No one checked on us during our meal and our check sat for probably 30 minutes. There was no one to even ask to take our check because no one ever came back to us. It was not crowded. Three tables max and then we were the only people left in the restaurant at 7:30 PM yet no could make any time to even take our check. In addition, the handicapped stall in the ladies room has no grab bars so it is not truly handicapped. It should be possible for a disabled person to use the restroom. My husband's meal came out and my meal was not correct. The salads came out AFTER the entrees. An older blonde server apologized and explained our server was new. We ate here with our family while visiting in Scranton, Pennsylvania. For the most part everything was delicious. The salad dressing had too vinegar, but the ravioli, the meatballs, the bread, the gnocchi, everything else was just perfect. The waitress was fabulous, and even brought us a container of house dressing that had been fixed and tasted much better. The atmosphere was relaxing and the place is decorated nicely. I really have no complaints, especially with the service. The food tasted very authentically Italian, at least as much as I can tell. I definitely will return on a future visit. read more

i purchased an antipasto salad on 3/31/23 .I received a salad in a brown paper box with wilted lettuce and tuna and 2 dressings. it cost 16.95$. it looked like garbage when I opened the paper box. I threw it in the garbage. i contacted colarusso via messenger .this was their response . Our salad comes with ,ham,salami,pepperoni,mortadella,tuna,egg,variety of peppers,Asiago cheese,onions,olives and tomatoes I will never order anything from this place again. it was the most disgusting thing I ever purchased from a restaurant. I assume you must eat in to get what they actually advertise. They told me since I didn't return it immediately ( I'm disabled)they can't verify what I received. really? They said all the salads that went out Friday were correct and said they had 200 orders .she offered 7.50$ in credit on my cell.I said,keep it,like I'd eat their food after this . I recently ordered takeout from here and was pretty disappointed. I've eaten in before and have been pretty happy, so this more of a review for their takeout. The order was supposed to be ready in 25 minutes. It didn't come out until 37 minutes. Kind of a pain to sit there almost 15 minutes longer than expected, especially because we ordered right as they opened on a Sunday. As for the food, the pizza was good and one of the pasta dished was okay. We also ordered a plate of cappelleti and they were not cooked fully. A majority of the pasta was still pretty hard and made for a less than enjoyable meal. Overall I'd say skip the takeout and eat in. I've been here many times. Service is usually good-ish/mediocre and kind of noisy because they are usually just busy. I love the white pizza with broccoli and I'm not a white pizza lover to start with. I don't care for thick crust pizza as a whole, but that one is really great. The red pizza is ok. I don't like the sweet tomato paste-y sauce. Again a thick crust but if you like that style, it's definitely nice and crispy. Try the tomato basil pizza cause it's hit or miss but reaaally good if you get it on an 'on' night. The Antipasta is a good starter and get the pasta capresa ... Theresa, I think you should get your facts straight before you reply to any reviews of your establishment. Our reservation was made three days in advance, not one hour. No one in our party agreed to wait for everyone to arrive before getting beverages. And the Gentleman that you claim was was yelling is 77 years old, deaf and wears two hearing aides. We decided to go to a local establishment instead of a chain restaurant because we fully believe in supporting small businesses in our area. That was obviously a mistake on our part. After reading your comment on my review it is now crystal clear why your server was so rude. This seems to be the attitude of management as well. Hence the really poor customer service. I have read multiple negative reviews regarding wait time and food quality as well as a few good ones. I ordered take out last night and was really disappointed. I ordered half of fresh tomato and half of red. I should have inspected my pizza before leaving. I should of known since i stood at the bar while 4 employees walked in and out of the bar and not one acknowledged me or stopped to tell me someone would be out to take care of you. I brought my pizza home and the 6 cut red was thrown in the box. Half the slices overlapped the other 3 so the cheese was stuck to the bottom of the other three and the one slice had no cheese due to it sliding off......somewhere, not even in the box! The fresh tomato was not fresh at all. It was almost like they threw 1/3 of a leftover tray in the box and added 2 more random slices to make it a 6 cut. My corner slice didn't match the slice next to it nor did the cut of tomato. I grew up on Colarussos in Avoca and never had issues like this. We will not be ordering from there again. read more

This place has gone WAY downhill since the kids took over! Pizza is very inconsistent, and dinners are overpriced for amount of food u get. This has always been my favorite place for pizza but it has been a year. We got a half tray of fresh tomato, half tray of red - we ate one piece of each. We both thought the red was too salty and something was off with the fresh. The server did say the person that use to make the sauce left a few months ago and they have someone new. He also shared one of the batches of sauce was too salty and maybe he didn't throw it away. I ended up throwing the pizza away when I got home. The only issue I had was I ordered a salad and coleslaw and I did not receive any silverware to eat my salad so now I have to wait till I get off of work to eat my salad. Be aware, Colarusso's have placed menus with coupons (on close inspection expired) at the bar and will not honor them! Helpful hint for Colarusso's: REMOVE expired coupons at the bottom of your own menu or honor the collateral you place in your own business (If I wanted to read fine print I could have stayed at the office). Additionally, you did not provide the salad that is part of the lasagna meal (no I did not remind the staff, it's their job to take care of the order, I eat the food and pay the tab, right?!). And while we're at it, the fluorescent panel in the beer cooler makes for poor primary lighting in the bar area. Felt like staring into the highbeams of an inconsiderate oncoming driver. Whenever we are in Jessup visiting family, it is a treat to stop at Colarusso's for pizza or dinner. They have excellent home-town pizza, which has a crispy crust and melts in your mouth. We like to order a couple of pizzas and take the left overs back with us to our home in Northern Virginia. You cannot find pizza this good in the Washington area! Their dinners are great also. I especially like their flounder stuffed with crab meat. Their dining room is usually filled when we are there, but I found out when we were there in March that Monday night is a good time to go to avoid crowds. read more

Reading other reviews I have to wonder if some of these folks were in the same place. I go there with my family often. The food is VERY good (I never ate the pizza but other patrons there said it was VERY good). Best veal parmesan in the state that I've tasted EASY.
