Tip: pack your patience I've been wanting to try Cafe Columbia since I heard they have the option to add ice cream to the crepe. Ice cream with crepes are one of my favorite type of crepes, and that's exactly what I ordered; a crepe with ice cream. I walked in and the cafe was bustling with people enjoying their meal, and the workers preparing meals. It was a full house, however, I was able to grab a table for two. French Toast Crepe: this simple yet tasty crepe fit the bill. It had cinnamon flavor with whipped cream and I opted for a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It didn't come with fruit which I will add next time (yes, there will be a next time). Belgium Waffle: another simple item yet the batter was better than I expected. It didn't come with toppings. It came with a lite dusting of powdered sugar and came with room temperature butter. Chai Latte: this was good on the first sip. It seemed watered down and I would have preferred more flavor. Then again, I'm not a regular drinker of chai latte, and my daughter seemed to enjoy it. So don't count this out. When we ordered the staff gave us a disclaimer the crepe would take about 25 minutes. I didn't mind at the time. It took longer than that; however, I could see the workers constantly working on preparing meals so it didn't bother me. We got the waffle about 25 minutes later so we decided to share both the waffle and crepe. The crepe came out about 20 minutes later. The cafe has a well thought out layout. It has tables on each side, a reading area, and an area with complimentary water next to the coffee/tea station. The little station has water, cups, sugar, napkins and creamer (not pictured because it was packed and constantly occupied). On the other side you'll find more tables, the restrooms, and an ostracized nook that had someone in there occupying the chairs for what seemed like quiet time. Customer service is good. Parking is free in a huge parking lot for the business building. The cafe is located at the front of a shared business building. The menu has a variety of waffles with and without fruit options; crepes made either savory or sweet; and coffee drink options. There is an ice cream bar for scoops of ice cream or milkshakes; and lastly some fruit cups. Overall, I enjoyed the cafe and plan to add it to my list of favorites. read more

Libraries closed for the holiday and I have some work to do. Also, I could eat. Haha. I stayed for a little over 90 minutes. In that time, I sipped on my drink. Then enjoyed a delicious crepe. The staff is friendly, especially to regulars. 'Hmmmm, do I want to become a regular'? Anywho, I forgot my headphones and the conversations were so quiet that I could focus. Cafe Columbia First time at this quaint venue that is a bit hidden in a complex of business offices but is just off of busy Little Patuxent Pkwy in the Columbia Town Center, parking is easy. The dining area serves breakfast and lunch, sweet and savory, drinks can be ordered or pulled from a refrigerator case. The crepes are made fresh as ordered and then the service was polite. Our meal was served soon afterwards to our table. The setting is clean, quiet and it was easy to carry on conversations. We had the Mediterranean Veggie crepe which was tasty but for the price it would have been nice to see a piece of fruit or vegetable to go with the main dish. read more

For two matcha lattes and two single crepes, we paid $44 and waited 35 minutes for our food. The crepes were pretty good and we loved the matcha lattes, but the wait and the price were egregious for what we received. I think cafe columbia has a good thing going here, but I honestly think their amount of business has scaled beyond their location's capabilities. To wait 35 minutes when the restaurant wasn't even near full (and we didn't really see anyone coming in for takeout orders) is a bit insane. I think if they hire a few more folks and get another crepe griddle or two, they'd be in great shape. read more

This little cafe amidst the business area in Columbia is actually a great breakfast spot. It appears to be geared toward the lunch crowd as it likely draws from the large daytime working population in the surrounding office/light business establishments. I was actually surprised it was open on the weekend because of this, but their excellent breakfasts probably attract the local residents as well. I read some reviews that suggested that this place was easy to find. I'd have to disagree on that count. It is located in an unlikely office building with signage around the side where their entrance is located. It was only because Maps insisted we were in the right place that we didn't give up looking. To be fair, there was also an event at the Daycare next door that caused a bit of confusion with pedestrian flow. The interior was modern looking and tidy but had a bit of an office look rather than a café vibe. That's not a negative, it's just unusual. It was not particularly busy the day we visited which allowed for an easygoing feel. The format was walk up and order, though they do bring your food to you. The counter person was pleasant, polite and efficient and the food was ready in a reasonable amount of time. Crepes are definitely their specialty and we stayed with that. My wife and I decided to share two crepes, one sweet and one savory. The sweet one was the Crepes Suzette which had an orange overtone and was very good. The savory crepe was a Mediterranean Veggie Crepe, which was also very good. The balsamic drizzle was a particularly tasty touch. Their coffee was pretty good as well. With food, drink, tax and tip, our bill came to $16 per person. I was happy enough with the value. I'd try this place again if the opportunity arose. read more

The food is amazing. Some of the best crepes I've ever had. I ordered the strawberry cheesecake crepe and it wasn't too sweet and the fresh strawberries really complimented the cheesecake spread. The portion is reasonably sized, so I was satisfied after finishing the meal. The customer service was delightful and after ordering, they brought it the table. I absolutely love the relaxed vibe too. The music is relaxing, there are a few plants all around and it would be a great space to read or quietly work with some light background noise. Their service was very friendly and helped us immediately. There was ample parking and it was pretty easy to find this restaurant. Inside, it was painted and decorated cutely. It was not too busy at all and the food came out very quickly. As for the taste, the Nutella strawberry crepe was super yummy! It was a small little restaurant and it took me a second to find where it was, but it was so good. My family and I aren't actually from the area, but we had some errands to run around there, so we stopped by for some breakfast. We were greeted very warmly by the employees and they explained everything on the menu for my mom who has never tried savory crepes and wanted to try one. I got the Nutella and banana crepes, my mom got the chicken floretine, and my boyfriend got a plain Belgian waffle. Everything was delicious, even though some of the things we got were simple. I agree that this cafe is a hidden gem. The crepes were delicious, the decor was very pleasant, and the atmosphere is informal. All staff persons were friendly and upbeat, even though our party included twin babies. (High chairs were available.) Also not crowded, wait time for food minimal. Every time I travel to Columbia for work, I find something new. This cafe is the very best part of staying at the Merriweather. Cafe Columbia does delightful crepes. I had the caprese, which I highly recommend. It's the perfect blend of light crepe, fresh tomato, pesto, and a balsamic drizzle. It went really well with the chai latte. The decor is bright secondary colors perfect for a morning wake-up. They played super chill lo-fi ambient music that created a gentle happy morning. The staff was friendly and efficient. Quick & friendly service. We visited for brunch on a Thursday and there were 2 other groups of customers. The place was clean and friendly. The gentleman was very nice and accommodating as we were first time customers. He adapted easily for us after we'd originally ordered for dine in and had to switch to take out as our daughter decided she needed a nap ‍. The food was delicious. I had the sweet S'mores crepe which I would buy again. My husband had the savory Turkey, Avocado one. He doesn't even like avocado and he said this crepe was very good. I'd like the owners to know that IMO, the staff of young women are not pleasant - never a smile or even a thank you. I wonder if they were trained to be nice to customers or just decided that they don't need to be. One review mentioned the cheery staff; so I don't know if the young women are friendly to some, but not to others - it seems that they're very stoic to most.
