Chile verde, relleno, rice, beans- it was flavorful and excellent. Generous portion and goid price. First time eating there on a late Sat afternoon. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. Great location for harbor, icean and beach views.

I used to dine at the downtown location a long time ago and always enjoyed the food there. We tired the cafe this afternoon for dinner. It's right on the water with great views of the ocean and harbor. It's not very large but well kept and clean. It has a diner vibe with a pretty good menu and drinks to offer. It was early so it wasn't very crowded. We got seated immediately and were greeted by our waitress shortly thereafter. I ordered the chile colorado (which is made with pork vs beef) with rice and beans for sides. My cousin ordered the shrimp tostadas. Mine was good but it was only warm and not hot which would have been ok but the plate was not heated so by the middle of the meal my food was pretty cool. The flavor was spot on and the pork wasn't bad. The beans and rice were good. My cousin enjoyed the tostadas. The salsa here is very good, very tasty! Overall the experience was good but it could have been much better with hot vs warm food. One final note the flour tortillas that came with my meal were pretty small and they only provided 2.

It is a beautiful beachside location with nice views and a relaxed atmosphere. I came here randomly on didn't know much about this Mexcican style restaurant. It seems to be well established and a bit dated, yet clean and cared for in general. We were seated after a bit of a wait as no one was around at the reception area, and when the receptionist came, she seemed somewhat indifferent and not engaging. Although not at the windows, we still had a good enough view outside, and chips and salsa were brought to the table. Both were fine, yet nothing was very noteworthy. The menu is broad with many of the typical 'Mexican', albeit it American version, dishes. They had fish tacos listed as a special on a menu board at the entrance, so l decided to try that. First, I ordered a jalapeño margarita, which was just fine, yet again, nothing special, and hardly any intensity of spicy jalapeño flavor. The glass was rimmed with spicy salt, and there were some sliced jalapeños in the drink, but I got no spicy punch out of it, as if watered down. There were two fish tacos and beans/rice on the dish. The fish tacos were OK, the breading adequate, yet overall, it lacked flavor. Bland tacos, just don't do it for me. Sorry, but the entire experience seemed very ordinary and lacked any pizzaz. It just fell flat, although nothing horrible... just middle of the road Mexican fare.

So first heads up. This restaurant is in the same strip mall as The Crows Nest. So parking is a pain. But if you are at all familiar with the harbor, Twin Lakes, or the area in general this shouldn't be a surprise. Now on to the food. I actually really like their food! I personally think their enchiladas are the best thing on their menu. I always get my dish with black beans and typically get a chicken enchilada. I really don't remember a time I've been disappointed. Back when I used to live closer, my best friend and I would come for the street tacos and we're never disappointed. I'm also unsure what chips they use/buy/make but they are good along with good fresh salsa. Service however can be hit or miss. Sometimes, like our most recent visit, it's great! Other times, lackluster at best. Honestly it depends how busy the bar is. Speaking of the bar, it can get LOUD thx to those sitting at the bar. So if you can sit more towards the entrance it helps. Overall, I'd recommend Cafe El Palomar if you're in the area

Walked over from Twin Lakes and had a early dinner. The Shrimp enchiladas, Carne asada fajitas and tacos were all really good. My Cadillac Margarita was off the hook - I loved it. We'll be back often!!

Food Very good taste authentic Service Quick friendly Ambiance Very bizzy but some how peaceful I took pics of all the art outside and the benches for sitting beautiful Try the lunch special #3 sope Very good

Jalapeño Poppers and Paloma cocktail with a view. Both were very tasty. Volleyball at Harbor Beach was fun to watch too.

The food was ok, but it's really about the view and ambiance. Drinks are really tasty too. Chile verde was good but the rice and beans were lackluster, kinda bland. The salsa was great and worked nicely on the beans and rice though. We also ordered the jalapeño poppers and they were delicious - a lot of them came in the order as well.

We were hunting for a solid breakfast spot and honestly weren't sure from the outside. But the moment we walked in to a warm welcome and were seated right away, we knew we'd picked the right place. My grandson -- who can be a bit high‑energy -- was treated like a little gentleman. Seeing him enjoy himself let me actually relax and enjoy my own breakfast: a massive plate of French toast so good I couldn't even finish it. Linda's Sea Breeze Café is the kind of place that wins you over fast. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a great start to their day.

Tl;dr ok for brunch…read more I came with my friends after fishing and it was decently busy on a Saturday morning. There is no parking lot so you have to find street parking nearby. We ended up ordering mostly from the specials menu and here are my thoughts: - chorizo scramble: chorizo was fine. Some of us liked the chorizo and others didn't lol. The scramble was pretty wet because of the spinach. - Mendocino scramble: lots and lots of basil in the scramble and it was quite tasty. The sundried tomatoes were a bit sweet and the portobello was cut to be nice and small bite sizes. It was lighter in flavor but I prefer that to being overly sweet - corned beef hash: was dry but tasty. The texture was very nice - eggs Benedict: "mid" lol. It was fine but there was nothing special about it. The English muffin was well toasted though - soup: today was clam chowder! Lots of clams and other ingredients but somehow did not taste the way we expected it to. On the starchier side too - cinnamon rolls: lots of hype and i think it's worth. The texture was kind of like a cuffing with lots of walnuts hiding inside. It can be a little bit dry but it comes with some butter too so that helps a lot I can imagine that the parking situation can get really annoying when it gets busier but it was fine for today. The service was great! A+ :) Would I come back? Yes. For the cinnamon roll. I dont actually like scrambled eggs so I would try something else next time

I enjoyed the Halibut and J the sand dabs but we ended up swapping plates to get both of us a bite of each entree. We brought in a Bargetto 2024 Viognier from an earlier in the day tasting which complemented both dishes and finished with a rich Ollaliebery pie slice ala mode. A restaurant dedicated to The Cheese. Cool…read more I moved from Santa Clara to Santa Cruz in 1972 and thought I'd died and gone to heaven. I bought my first website from the O'Neill dive shop at the Harbor. Learned to surf at Cowells Beach, wearing O'Neill Seal Suits and Super Suits and Animal Skins, chasing Jack O'Neill around in his balloon with Mad Mike driving. Timmy O'Neill pushed me out of a dingy in the harbor channel once but I've forgiven him. They called Jack "The Cheese" but apparently I've been gone a while because I wasn't aware there was an entire restaurant, bar and lounge dedicated to The Cheese. Went there on a Thursday night in June and didn't have enough quarters to pay the parking meters on that uphill. Got lucky and found a parking space at Cowell's and used the change machine to get $5 in quarters, which is what it cost to park for a couple hours. Walked past a mural dedicated to several decades of Jack O'Neill going back to the 1950s: wetsuits, boats, hot air balloons, smiling girls. The air smelled like stale fish and salt. Inside was a clean, well-lighted place somewhere between funky and luxury .But closer to luxury. They've done a nice job with this place. The prices are reasonable in a city and a state and a time where prices can be unreasonable. Sat at a table up against the window, with a view over Cowells and the wharf and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and the lights of all the fishing boats in the bay I ordered the loaded fries with avocado, which is kind of like french fry nachos. And they were good. Lots of Cheese. It's a smart idea to dedicate an entire restaurant to The Cheese, as this place is over the dirt where the first O'Neill Surf Shop was in Santa Cruz was way back when starting around 1959 when Jack moved his business and his family down to Santa Cruz and was perfectly positioned for the surf boom lit by the movie Gidget that exploded into the Beach Boys and Frankie and Annette and everybody went surfing. Only glitch was when I asked the bartender for the bathroom code and he looked at me askance and wouldn't give it up. He said it was for hotel guests only. Aren't food establishments required to provide bathrooms to customers? If I had any friends, I would take them to the Jack O'Neill Restaurant and Lounge. It's got atmosphere. P.S I've interviewed around a dozen white shark attack victims. I get their stories and tell them: "You had a rough day. I'll see if I can get you a new wetsuit. Look at the O'Neill catalogue and tell me what you want and I'll call Pat O'Neill." And Pat always comes through with quality neoprene, so maybe a restaurant for him some day?
