Cafe Garcia's is a fun place located across from the David Allen baseball field. It has a great salsa bar and very good food selections. Sitting outside on the patio during the spring and summer drinking tecate beer with salt and lime and eating nachos is very enjoyable. read more

I haven't been to many places here in Enid since there's such a lot of fast food places but this is one of the few bright spots for food here. Actually its the best place I've eaten at since I've been here. Time: Wednesday afternoon Location: I don't have a clue where I was but it wasn't close to Bricktown. This has been one of my favorite restaurants in Enid. They have a ton of variety on their menu and seriously, everything is so good. I am obsessed with their Al Pastor tacos, and I can say that they have the best ones in town (followed in close second by El Carnitas). One of the other things I love here is that the carne asada plate. I live for it! The steak is seasoned SO well, and their rice and beans and good too. I do wish that they gave me more tortillas with it though. And my husbands favorite is the California burrito, which is pretty loaded up with the good stuff! So after hearing so much about Cafe Garcia, I finally got a chance to try it out. First things first, the parking is horrible. It is so bad that nearby businesses have signs marking off their parking. When I say bad, I mean you could pack two families into every car, fill up the parking, and still not fill up the restaurant. People make do somehow, but this is Enid. We have space. That being said, I'll judge the restaurant on its merits. Enid is a city with some solid Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants, which means I expect popular restaurants to be really good. Admittedly, that can't always be true because El Chico manages to stay in business in this town despite catering to people without taste buds. I walk in, and the restaurant looks nice. A bit more spacious than I thought, very open overall. Good start. Thanks to previous reviews, I know not to expect a margarita. I do wish I had asked for a menu or a drink list beforehand though, they have Mexican Coke and other Mexican real sugar sodas. This is a Big Deal to me. For non-alcoholic options, real sugar soda is the single best thing a restaurant can carry. I can and will be getting one on my next trip. I'd say I spoiled the surprise by saying "next trip", but the four stars above already imply that one. The menu is similar to Playa Azul. They do clearly have street tacos, but I decided I'd test both the service and the menu at the same time. I ask the waitress what dish defines the place. She starts off with "The most popular dish is the enchiladas..." At this point, you can tell a number of things. Someone who orders what is popular is afraid of their own shadow and wants the least adventurous thing they can get. Also, what is popular is reliably acceptable yet never the best thing on the menu. Thankfully, she continues. "but one of my favorites is the carne asada platter." Bingo. That's a recommendation right there. As for the food, I'll go from start to finish. The chips and cheese sauce are decent. The cheese is a little bland, but Cafe Garcia is more well known for the salsa bar. Chile de arbol salsa, I'm already impressed. Cilantro and lime wedges to add for taste? I'm sold already. Then the meal comes out. The meat is that slightly greasy easy to cut style I expected, tastes great. The rice is fine although not exceptional, the beans are pretty meh although not bad. In the end, Cafe Garcia holds its own. No liquor is a bit disappointing but the food is solid enough that I wasn't broken up over it. Still, between that mild inconvenience and the absolutely horrible parking, I'll give it four stars. Perhaps if I go back and have a lime soda with the meal, I'd nudge it up to five stars. That is, if I can find a place to park. read more

This is the other Mexican restaurant that we will eat at in Enid. It's closer to true Mexican than Tex Mex and we like to have that option. The food is always served hot and fresh, and the service is quick and friendly. The salsa bar has a wider selection the most other Mexican restaurants we've found between here and Santa Fe. Rarely will you find the place less than half full of patrons, Fri and Sat nights it can get down right packed. Considering the number of guests, they do a pretty good job of keeping the place clean. Out of all of the Mexican restaurants in Enid, this is the most authentic one we have come across. The food is decent but coming from almost Mexico in southern California I have to be fair and say it isn't the best Mexican food in the world, however, for Enid it is pretty alright. Food comes with complementary chips and a hot queso dipping sauce type thing. There is also a pretty good salsa bar with around 8 or so types of salsa as well which is pretty nice. I like Cafe Garcia's atmosphere the best of any of Enid's plethora of Mexican food spots. My favorite is the Carne Asada burrito, I have had it multiple times and it is always great. Service is ok most of the time. Salsa bar is nice so you can adjust your heat level and consistency. read more

Ate here before the Lee Brice concert. Not bad for a spur of the moment decision. The queso was delicious, but the salsa was AWFUL! Oh my! (That's why I couldn't give 5 stars) But our enchiladas, chili relleno and tacos were so very good. The ladies on the patio were kind of lost and didn't know how to deal with all the people but we overall had a good experience. We will be back when we pass through again. read more

This is a very good Mexican restaurant. They have a salsa bar with many different selections of salsa. I ordered a burrito supreme that came with rice and beans. It was way too much food to eat. Since patios are limited in Enid, Cafe Garcia is a nice spot to visit to change up the usual patio scenery. Food is decent, and a step up from Tex-Mex. One of the better Mexican restaurants in a town of many. My favorite item is the salsa bar. Unlimited trips with multiple flavors and heat levels plus unlimited chips. The queso isn't very spicy but I mix in other salsas to get it where I like it. The best by far is the avocado salsa...but I'm an avocado freak. I like any dish with the chile verde sauce, and get the shrimp tacos as well. They do serve beer, but no liquor means no margaritas. :( read more

This has quickly become me and my wife's favorite mexican restaurant in town. The food is fairly typical although I can't remember the last time I got enchiladas or a burrito at a mexican restaurant. I always turn to the page with the house specialties and have had several here, none of which have been disappointing. The main reason I enjoy this place is with out a doubt the salsa bar. Several different selections with fresh cilantro, onion, and limes not to mention the whole jalapenos. Great place for lunch or diner. read more

Don't know what all the talk is about this place is was nasty! Meat was dry and only gave me 3 pieces of steak for my fajita dish! Meat in my husbands enchilada was dried out it was hard to chew! This place is ok, the shining star is their salsa bar. Service is a toss up just like any place. Food is decent, they have the basic Tex Mex style food with some that stand out. Food was fair, I had the fish and shrimp soup it was a little bland nothing to write home about but decent enough. Ordered two shrimp tacos alacart. The shrimp were chopped into little pieces and sautéed with a little onion and 3 tiny pieces of green pepper. Was served on a flour tortilla. I put sour cream on them and they were very tasty, although lacking in eye appeal. The salsa bar is a great idea, but was severely picked over, and staff did nothing to keep up with it. While I am not a huge fan of mexican food, I have to say Garcia's has the best surprise in town - their breakfast. Generous portions at excellent prices. Get the breakfast taco; $1.50 each and damned well worth it! Salsa Bar is great, the patio is groovy, the beer isn't the absolute coldest in town - but it'll do. This place is okay I guess I only been here a couple times because my husband likes it but I find it to be nothing special at all just the basic "Mexican" place that really doesn't taste like Mexican food at all more like tex Méx food. The torta cubana is what I always get and its good but I don't understand why they add pickles and mustard?? Tortas cubanas are definitely not suppose to have neither of those things. read more
