Walk the way latte with oat milk
Nishi S.

Was recommended this pace by one of our frd. We absolutely loved what we ordered - vegan "Santana" and vegan "could u be loved". Finding a tasty cooked tempeh is not very usual but this place had the best of it. I love that they have separate vegan options, it makes our life so easy. Also love their latte - "Walk this way", absolutely amazing. Definitely recommend to all vegan and non vegan peeps.

Tacos, Salad & Toast

Always love the food at Cafe Koa! The playful and eclectic atmosphere exudes happiness. Our server Dyer was helpful with menu selections and on top of our drink refills. Our food was fabulous, Love Shack salad, Katerina chicken tacos and Chicken salad toast did not disappoint. Finished up with what just might be the best iced coffee ever. Definitely go.

Levon sandwich with side salad

Cafe Koa is wonderful! I got the Levon sandwich, and it was even better than I could have hoped for! It included a large serving of fish, great bread, and the peach relish was *chef's kiss*. My husband got the Kokomo tacos and also loved his dish. Additionally, the mimosas were delicious and strong! It was super cute inside, too! Great vibes, and service was fantastic. I highly recommend and will certainly be back!

American woman omelette

Came this morning and had the American woman. Fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese gave it a kick. WS nice to be there when it wasn't packed with people. Service is always good too. Parking was a breeze today.

One of my sisters is VEGAN! So this is a great restaurant for people who are and also people who are not vegan. As you can see I got chicken and waffles and it was superb. My sister got some sort of vegan breakfast bowl and my god, she danced for it when the waitress brought it out. Happy customers all around, also the bathroom was awesome.

Fantastic lunch. Everything was so fresh and the flavors were fantastic. I added chicken to my ramen dish. I highly recommend this cafe. What a find! I was so happy I found this lovely place.

Mimosa and Tito's Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary is a little spicy, and thick (think homemade, not Zing Zang or Mr. T's)

I am posting a review just because I misunderstood the Yelp reviews. I came to this place assuming it was a quick place to grab a bagel and a coffee possibly to go. It is a sit down brunch/lunch and I believe offers dinner as well. I was a little confused on the menu; where it looks cool, it's a bit scattered with specific names to food items. We ended up having a drink, and then explored the near by area. The price of the drink ordered did not match the price on the menu. The waitress was sweet, but not very helpful for a first time customer. Ambiance 10/10. I'd come back,

Ramen bowl (veggie) and tofu scramble

Spent the day in Southport and decided to check out this cute café because it was recommended as having vegan options. As many yelpers have shared, we lucked out and got Holly as a server! And as expected, she was wonderful, providing lots of helpful tips and recommendations for vegan menu options. The service was quick, the presentation was beautiful, as you can see in the picture and they even had live music at lunch today. The food was healthy and fresh, but my dish wasn't terribly flavorful; however, I had asked for no cilantro which might've been the problem. The prices were reasonable and the menu was varied and unique. It's definitely worth your while to check this place out next time you're in town!

Best Mimosa Flight ever!!!!!!

Great place with a relax vibe. We went for breakfast and had the special (Crabcake). Very savory, filled with flavor yet simple.

Very good but you need to update your hours on Yelp so I don't show up when you're closed like today.

Took the Fort Fisher ferry over to Southport for the day, and we stopped in for an early lunch…read more They were not busy yet, which was our plan. Eat first, then do all our walking. We were greeted by very friendly staff that seated us in a back corner. No foot traffic over there. Server came by for drink orders and we had some time to look over the large menu. It is your typical diner food. Big portions and all fresh made. We tried the Henny Penny sandwich with side of fries and the Reuben with side of fries. Chicken was cooked perfectly on this wonderful roll. Looked delicious. The Reuben meat was chopped and mixed with the sauce and sauerkraut. Very easy to eat this way. And I love the marble rye bread. Not sure where they get their bread but both sandwiches were amazing. Fries were hot and crispy too. This is a great spot right in the middle of Southport. When we finished and left, almost every table was full, even outside tables. There are only about 8 tables inside, so when they are busy, I'm sure there is a wait. We will definitely return when in Southport. Give this little place a try. Great food and service right in the heart of Southport. 5 stars

She was funny, a little sassy, and had a great personality that made us feel right at home. Be prepared for a crowd! We visited on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was very busy and quite loud. We had about a 20-minute wait at 5:00 PM, so I can only imagine how packed it gets around 6:00 or 7:00 PM. For dinner, I ordered the flounder platter with Gouda potatoes and sweet plantains. Everything was excellent--5/5. The Gouda potatoes were especially delicious, and the flounder was perfectly crispy without being greasy. My son ordered the crab boil special and cleaned his plate, which says it all. My boyfriend had the fried oyster po' boy, and it was very good as well. Even my little guy ordered the adult portion of fried shrimp and finished every last shrimp and fry. Overall, the prices were reasonable, the service was outstanding, and the food was delicious. We'd definitely come back again!

They got super busy as soon as we sat down we ordered the fried green tomatoes. They were a bit bland but tasted ok. I ordered the seafood pasta with garlic bread. It had plenty of scallops and shrimp and the sauce was devine! My friends had the haddock and said it was yummy as well. They have outdoor eating as well as a heated patio section. Decent sized bar too. Customer service excellent! Parking lot kinda cramped when it gets busy. I will be back for sure!

We have been to the restaurant 6 times over the last several years and our visit in March 2026 and last night, May 15th 2026, has prompted me to lower the rating. First, my wife's shrimp cocktail had not been deveined, for $17 dollars would expect the few shrimp to be pristine and ready to eat. Plus the greens that were under the shrimp were not just wilted but "gooey" like they were past their due date. I had the ribeye and ordered it medium rare. It came out well done without a hint of pink. The chefs potatoes last night were a mashed variety and they were cold and stiff enough to lay brick with. Our server, Richard, was friendly enough but he came to our table a total of 4 times in the 70 minutes we were there. Even if we wanted to communicate about our meals preparation it would require for our service to have been better. The lobster bisque was excellent and my wife had a side of fries that were also good. The ambience is lovely and we like the location, but after two recent visits with really poor food and service, we won't be back. To those about to nosh, you have been warned. Go elsewhere.
