First, I'd like to give a special shoutout to our waitress. She truly made the dining experience memorable. She was funny, a little sassy, and had a great personality that made us feel right at home. Be prepared for a crowd! We visited on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was very busy and quite loud. We had about a 20-minute wait at 5:00 PM, so I can only imagine how packed it gets around 6:00 or 7:00 PM. For dinner, I ordered the flounder platter with Gouda potatoes and sweet plantains. Everything was excellent--5/5. The Gouda potatoes were especially delicious, and the flounder was perfectly crispy without being greasy. My son ordered the crab boil special and cleaned his plate, which says it all. My boyfriend had the fried oyster po' boy, and it was very good as well. Even my little guy ordered the adult portion of fried shrimp and finished every last shrimp and fry. Overall, the prices were reasonable, the service was outstanding, and the food was delicious. Came today with a couple of friends for the first time. Was greeted by three friendly people right at 11:30 when they opened. We sat inside. They got super busy as soon as we sat down we ordered the fried green tomatoes. They were a bit bland but tasted ok. I ordered the seafood pasta with garlic bread. It had plenty of scallops and shrimp and the sauce was devine! My friends had the haddock and said it was yummy as well. They have outdoor eating as well as a heated patio section. Delicious gem located along main area of this beach town. Parking lot kinda small as is the inside of this restaurant. There's a bar and seated area for dining. They also have a pet friendly outdoor eating area that has its own little alcohol shack. Every person is friendly and helpful. We sat at the bar. You can tell this is a good place just by the interactions of their employees. Ordered two drinks and the grouper fingers. One drink was a rum based that I can't remember the name of, but it was good. The local Bloody Mary was great and comes with a smorgasbord of garnish. We are talking fried oysters, steamed shrimp, pickled okra, olives, celery, bacon, pickled peppers! All were tasty. The drink itself was fabulous. I like it spicy with horseradish, but this was good without having horseradish. Would highly recommend. Might want to tell them to add old bay or tajin rim of interested. The grouper bites - so not leave without these. You can tell they are beyond fresh and made to order. These are not frozen!! Overall a great experience that we enjoyed. Would return. We came to Shagger Jacks around 7:30pm on a Friday night and surprisingly there wasn't a wait, despite their being a ton of cars in the lot. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and portions were generous. They offer indoor and outdoor seating, which is cool. The place was hopping, but settled down quite a bit by the time we ate and left. While visiting OKI we stopped in Shagger Jacks. Parking was a bit tight but we did end up finding a spot. We were greater by a friendly hostess who sat us at a high top table. There were various kinds of seating...outside, high tops, regular tables and bar seating. We had a couple of cocktails that were very good. The food was also VERY good. Nice place for some good and quick food. We were seated immediately, and the food came out super quick. I had the mahi taco and the flounder taco. Both were really good. The mahi was probably a little better with the hot sauce. The black bean and rice side was just "ok". Nothing great about that. Everyone else at my table liked their food as well (chicken sandwich, bbq chicken taco, captures flatbread). Service was great. Our party of 4 had Monday dinner here. Very good food and service. It's summer so yes you will wait, we were about 30 mins at 730pm Monday. Grouper taco was excellent, lots of choices of non seafood too. While you wait outside they have a small bar which makes the time go by. This place is a win! read more
