A very chill vibe that is part coffee shop, bar, restaurant, and live music venue. It's vegan, tasty, and reasonably priced. We shared the Mujjadara and my dining partner tried the mulled wine before eating, and a hot cocoa for dessert which she also liked. They have books for sale in the back. There is a $10 cover in the evening, but that also gets you into Ornithology Jazz Club next door so you can go back and forth. Staff was friendly and was happy to make a few suggestions. I would be happy to return here.

A trusted friend recommended we come listen to a session. I am so happy we did. We didn't opt to eat, but instead I had a pot of chai (which was delicious). The ambiance was very mellow and perfect for a cozy evening of jazz while it's snowing heavily outside. The Sacha Perry quartet that performed was excellent too. I'll definitely return the next time I want to hear some live jazz.

Went on a Monday and it was very chill. Sund-Thurs, cover is $10 per person and Fri-Sat is $20 per person. Take note, if you get a slip, you can take it to the spot next door and enjoy without paying cover change 2x. We enjoyed the hummus plate & pitas and the sweet potatoes with arugula & mushrooms while enjoying the live music. Take note, there is a 1 drink minimum per person (can be non-alcoholic). I would come again!

A gem!!! My best friend lives in Brooklyn and couldn't stop bragging about this place, so when I came East I had to visit! Cozy atmosphere, chill vibes, excellent service, yummy food, and delightful music. Will most definitely be back. The food was vegan and delicious, we tried a bunch but my faves were the sesame bread + 3 dips, the hummus & pita, , the almond flour lemon pound cake and chocolate cookie! Delicioso! I also had a glass or the Pas de Probleme and it was light and refreshing. Shoutout to our amazing server Willy who was very timely, kind, and warm, and Melody (?) who was helping him. Thank yall for such a great time!

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The food was actually super amazing, the music was vibrant and soulful. Great vibe and service. We got there a bit early, and had a couple ciders. We ordered the meze platter, the hummus, the pesto pizza. The meze was great a couple small dishes to share, the pesto pizza was so green and flavorful! Don't forget about their zhoug sauce which is a parsley garlic spicy sauce that is excellent. The hummus was OK, it's quite hard to get a good hummus right. There is a $10 cover for the music, but it's well worth it. Nice atmosphere and great music. A classic Brooklyn spot.

The had another session after the one we attended because we saw people lined up as we were leaving. Please remember to bring the debit/ credit card you used to pay for the event. One of the staff was a bit adamant about seeing the card we used to pay even after we showed her our confirmation email and photo ID. The small and intimate sitting area was full. The staff are strict with seating arrangements to ensure everyone has a great view which is accommodating. You are allowed to BYOB. Now to the best part, the musicians. We enjoyed a hour and a half of pure bliss. The musicians were so talented and played from the heart and soul and you felt it. The music was low key to sit back and relax and then upbeat to do a little movement in your chair. lol. This is definitely a place to visit and enjoy some cool jazz in Brooklyn.

As you ascend the stairs into a well-preserved 19th century brownstone, a man will take your coat as you admire the original finishings and molding. The jazz concerts have been operating in the same room for over 16 years, and currently do so from Fri-Sunday. The owners are so passionate about jazz and Bed-Stuy. When you buy your ticket, you'll see a list of rules, like a dress code of no jeans, hoodies, or backpacks. Years ago, these tickets used to include a fish dinner, but that ended with the pandemic. Get tickets as soon as you verbally agree to plans or else they'll sell out. Only about 20 patrons can fit, so you can bring a small group or even go alone. The musicians know each other well and joke together. The bass and piano instruments are a little banged up on the wood due to year of use, but the pitch is right on target. Although classy, Brownstone Jazz isn't too uppity and unapproachable no matter your musical knowledge. The vibes are intimate, vintage, soulful, and welcoming. The emcee, one of the owners, is excited about birthdays and audience involvement, so absolutely raise your hand if you're celebrating.
