Gyro Sandwich with hummus, pita bread, feta salad and tzatziki included on the side.

Stopped by on a Monday afternoon for a quick lunch and Cafe Petra hit the spot! It was empty when we got there around 1:30pm. I ordered a gyro sandwich (it's a wrap), which comes with hummus, feta salad, pita bread and tzatziki as sides. The food was ready lightning fast. Everything tasted good. I do think they went a bit overboard with the raw purple onions in the wrap though. The to-go containers are plastic can be easily reused. There's also a drive-thru ordering option. PERK: They give you a 20% discount if you are student/healthcare worker/etc. :) My gyro wrap came out to $10.51 with the discount.

oops we dug in before pics, but this was the sides for the Petra Chicken

Such a delight--more than your basic "Greek food" restaurant! Although they do have basic fare as well. We went on a non-busy Sunday night craving something filling but nutritious. The man who took our order was very nice and explained any items we asked about. We ordered the chicken Petra which I HIGHLY recommend. Cooked to order deliciously marinated chicken and a large amount of mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions sautéed in a mildly tomato, but mostly just very flavorful herbal sauce. Like a delicious Lebanese fajita? The side salad was topped with Tzatziki which was a refreshing favorite. They didn't overload everything with stinky feta which is usually my main complaint at Mediterranean restaurants. Our food came out quickly and the gentleman even came outside where we were sitting to ensure we liked the food. Totally delicious!

Our family had just arrived to Baton Rouge for thanksgiving and had no food at our hotel. We were desperate and about to pull into a gas station as almost everywhere was closed for the holiday. We stopped here seeing it was one of the few places open, but weren't expecting the food to be anything special. We were very pleasantly surprised. Most of us ordered the chicken shawarma on the recommendation of the cashier, which was solid. One person ordered the lamb gyro which was tasty as well. The spinach pie / spanakopita was perhaps our favorite: flaky, with creamy filling - very hearty and delicious. Had to order more to go! Service was kind and very attentive despite the to-go food environment. Staff made sure to check on us, bringing refills and sauce (the garlic spread was very yummy). We also ordered baclava on the way out, which the owner graciously gave to us on the house. Everyone in our group was very happy and full by the end of our meal and are even trying to plan another visit before we leave in a couple days.

Vegetable plate with feta salad, hummus, dolmas, eggplant moussaka, and falafel.

Apparently I'm in the minority. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't wowed. I'm pretty sure the eggplant moussaka in my veggie plate was microwaved, meaning not cooked fresh, although in all fairness I suspect this happens at a lot of like places. The hummus was ok, as was the feta salad, falafel, and dolmas (grape leaves). It did not seem like a lot of food for the price. The service was pretty good, but it was not busy and the employees sort of seemed bored. The restaurant itself is really small and cute. Would I go back? Possibly, but not likely anytime soon given the competition. My daughter seemed pleased with her food, which is always a plus. Regardless of my opinion, it seems to be a well-liked place by the reviews and I hope the business continues to do well.

Noticed it was new and ordered via Waitr. 1) the baklava is SO good. I had to fight my husband to get the last bite. 2) Veggie platter: came with a good amount of food. I ordered the eggplant moussaka, okra moussaka, fattoush salad, falafel, and grape leaves. The okra moussaka could've been it's own meal, came in its own container. I do wish baba ghanoush was an option to choose from, you can add it separately but I didn't do that. Does not come with its own pita. 3) my husband tried both the lamb shank and the chicken schwarma sandwich. I agreed with him that both meats were a bit bland for us. Entrees come with salad, pita and hummus. I would be willing to try it again, but I think I'll stick with my veggie platter. Also let's you get a variety of options!

Pretty good food, well worth the trip. The meat moussaka plate was tasty along with the dalad and rice.

They have fresh and delicious Lebanese and Greek food it's the best I've had my favorites are the Petro sandwich and the Ashta dessert. I love their salads and fried cheese, OMG THAT FRIED CHEESE ITS AMAZING!!! So next time you're in the area stop by and try them out

I like Petra! I've been here twice--once for dine in and once for take out via door dash. The chicken schwarma is juicy and well seasoned. The gyro is fine, did not particularly stand out to me. Their hummus is really smooth and so yum. The customer service here is really nice and quick ish. The only reason I took off a star is because this place is pricey! I got an extra pita & they charge $1.50 for a single pita :( The combo gyro/chicken plate I got was like $16 without any extras.

Located in the Ichiban square on the corner of Perkins and Essen, Cafe Petra is a new Greek/Lebanese place offering fast casual. You order at the counter and your food is called when ready--no fuss. The young man who was at the register was really friendly and patient when we figured out what we wanted. The price was pretty average for Greek food around BR so no complaints then. Gyro and Chicken Combo Plate - typical fixings, pretty tasty albeit a little greasy Garlic Dip - really good, I'd get it again albeit a tad greasy Fried Halloumi - very solid I'd definitely come back for a fast, tasty meal.

Not sure how updating a review works since it doesn't show my original. First time I got two combo plates; one with fries instead of rice and the other with spanakopita instead of rice. The meats were the best we've had in the area. Updating to include my experience with the lamb shank. It came in a foil packet, like a mini pot roast. It was super tender and had good flavor. Night get it again, but will likely stick to the combo plate for most of my orders. I also purchased a 1/4lb of chicken for $5.44 after tax. I got it in case the lamb wasn't good and because my dog really likes it, too. Apparently a whole pound is around $15, so it's good that it's not $5.44*4.

The best quick serve Greek/Lebanese in town. I'm normally a gyro guy, but the chicken shawarma is the stand out here.

This is one of three Albasha locations in the southeast Louisiana area. Thank god this location is near our field office in Baton Rouge which is where I was assigned to in early October allowing me to dine at this spot for lunch. The dining area spacious with plenty of seating. It does get a lot of traffic during the weekday lunch hours; probably cause of the lunch specials that are offered which we took advantage of. The menu consists of your typical Mediterranean eats such as hummus, baba ganouj, stuffed grape leaves, spanakopita (spinach pie), chicken/beef schwarma, lamb shank, moussaka, and kabobs (just to name a few). Lunch specials involve plates which include a feta cheese salad, rice pilaf, and hummus that accompany the entrees. Ranging from $14-18, this is quite the steal, especially during times like these. The Lamb Shank lunch I ordered was delicious with plenty of food that I had to have a to-go box to bring the remainders with me. The chicken shwarma and vegetable platter were ordered by other parties who both loved them. And we also started with the fried cheese which is served in a bed of olive oil and spices with some cucumbers, tomatoes, and olives. Very tasty, especially with the vegetable garnishes. I need to get another assignment in Baton Rouge so I can come back here again!

Having lived…read morein Houston previously, where there were many great Greek and Mediterranean fares, this restaurant surpassed them all. The portions were perfect, the flavors all blended nicely, with nothing too salty, too bland, or overpowering other flavors in the dish. Their hummus and pita are all made fresh in house, and a must try for appetizer. I then ordered the rice, chicken and lemon soup bowl along with the politika meatballs. The soup is best described as slurping down comfort food. The meatballs were a blend of beef and lamb, which helped to bring down the bold flavor of lamb, and allowed all the flavors of the saganaki tomato sauce to complement. All of that still some left room for desserts. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices. They all looked good. I went with this custard filled filo that was drizzled with honey. It's baked to order, so it was fresh, warm, crispy flakes of filo, and sweetened with honey and a hint of orange zest. Honestly, it's difficult to put it into words to describe it perfectly, but it was very good.
