My family was driving through on a road trip and we were looking for something fast, but we didnt want "fast food". This place was great! It has a drive though, but we dined in on the patio. It seemed a bit expensive at first, but when our food came, we saw that the portions were huge and the quality was great. Our kids each had the penne pasta with alfredo (one with chicken and one with shrimp). The sauce was very herby and flavorful, the shrimp were large and juicy and the chicken was a huge mound of shwarma. My 9 YO boys could have easily shared one dish and they are not light eaters. My husband and I both had the chicken shwarma sandwich and they were also quite large. They were stuffed full of well seasoned meat, fresh veggies and tzaziki. A fresh salad and hummus on the side again made this a meal with leftovers. The owner came out several time to check on us, answer any questions we had and he even refilled our drinks for us. Great service and personable employees. So, while this restaurant came up in my yelp search for fast food and they were definitely fast, I would classify it as casual, order at the counter dining with great people and a welcoming experience. I'm just sad that I found this place on a road trip and not in my own neighborhood. read more

I ordered lunch from here after reading alot of positive reviews. I love greek food and was excited to try out a new place. I ordered the meat Moussaka plate, baba ghanoush and Ashita for dessert. I don't normally order dessert at lunch, but I had never heard of Ashita and wanted to try it. The food was ready quickly and was well packaged. The appearance of all the items was good. As others have mentioned, the hummus and salad that came with the plate were small compared to other Greek restaurants in town. My salad was fresh and it tasted like the salad at most of the Greek restaurants I have been to, but it was gone in just a few bites. There was nothing special about the hummus either. The rice was well cooked, but it had no flavor at all. I didn't see a need to finish it. The moussaka looked great. Lots of meat and potatoes with lightly browned bechemel sauce on top. The flavor was disappointing. All I tasted was plain beef and potatoes. There was none of the flavor and spices I have come to expect in Moussaka. The side of baba ghanoush was large and had good roasted eggplant flavor. I would order that again. The ashita turned out to be Phyllo stuffed with creamy cheese and drizzled with a honey pistachio sauce. The Phyllo was crispy, the cheese filling tart and was a good contrast to the honey glaze. It left me kicking my fingers and wanting more. I'm on the fence about giving this place another try. There are other Greek restaurants I like better. My husband and I LOVE Cafe Petra. It's always fresh and delicious. The chicken kabobs are amazingggg. I have no idea how they pack so much flavor and juiciness into that chicken. My husband gets the Petra sandwich with fries and it never disappoints. We order form here once a week. The drive-thru makes it super convenient. It helps to order ahead of you do get the kabobs because they made them fresh when you order and it will take a few mins if you don't order again. Either way worth the wait! read more

After living in Baton Rouge, Denver, and Dallas I have to say this is the BEST Greek food I've ever had. As part of a college sports team, we could have very easily overwhelmed the staff. However, everyone was so kind and acted pleased to see us as soon as we walked in! We had ordered ahead, and they already had a table put together to seat all 16 of us. They were constantly checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed, and they even offered us some of their homemade tea on the house. This place is honestly so amazing! We stopped in one day because one of the other restaurants in the shopping center that we were going to was closed and honestly I'm so glad it was!!! We love this place now. The food is so good and fresh and if you love Tzatziki sauce as much as I do then you won't be sorry. My family and I recently moved here, and our friends recommended Cafe Petra to us (they said it's one of their favorite restaurants here in Baton Rouge). The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the family package for 3 with the chicken shawarma and gyro meat, and everything was amazing. The meat was very well seasoned and well cooked, and we received plenty of pita, hummus, tzatziki, and salad to eat with the meat. We also ordered the tiramisu, along with the Lebanese tea, and they were both delicious as well. Now we know why our friends listed this as one of their favorites! First time review. I got the combo kabob plate. Food was good but kind of expensive (combo was the most expensive plate) My first kafta, not disappointed. Everything was well spiced, including salad. During hurricane Ida, they were one of few places open in the area to serve, and gave free bags of ice at your request. I think it just shows the dependability of Petra. I ordered a gyros platter. The food was good and the restaurant was clean. My only complaint is that the young man who waited on me was not wearing a mask. He was wearing a sports jersey, Caucasian, tall, and thin. He had a black mask which fell just below his mouth. His nose and mouth were both exposed. There was also no protective screen between him and me. Lastly, both his co-workers wore masks which covered nose/mouth. This was my first time coming to Cafe Petra.
