The Greater EBR area is completely full of great Greek & Lebanese restaurants. To stand out, you need to do all the basics REALLY WELL and give a little extra to stand out. Cafe Phoenicia's menu provides that, with some of the best chicken shawarma and gyros you'll ever put between a piece of pita bread. However, what makes us drive from Baton Rouge are the pasta dishes. Their creme blanche wine sauce is PHENOMINAL! I want all the dishes they serve with that sauce! pair it with any of their perfectly cooked proteins and you got yourself a grand meal. I enjoy any of their seafood dishes featuring that sauce, especially their Seafood Mediterranean. We also enjoy the simple Pasta Phoenicia with Chicken Shawarma. To keep me on my toes they'll have a seasonal menu item or two written on the chalkboard out front - Grilled sea bass or stuffed flounder were the last ones I saw. This place has amazing food! We have enjoyed the take-out several times and I've tried many dishes and they all have been excellent. The order is always correct and the staff is always friendly. Never had any issues or problems. Their fried halloumi cheese is top shelf I highly recommend. I normally go for the lobster ravioli but this time they had a special for BBQ chicken schwarma with rice, humus and a choice if feta salad or what I chose was the fatoush salad. We order Cafe Phoenicia for lunch through Major Menus weekly. The menu has a lot of options and it's convenient when your work schedule is tight and you can't go out. I've ordered entrees and appetizers and it's always been delicious. Although the Denham Springs location is not close to downtown, my lunch is always hot and fresh. The ONLY reason I am leaving 4 stars instead of 5 is because my salad is usually drenched in salad dressing and it is soggy. (uugghh) read more

Sigh. Where to start? I'll start with the words plain and bland. That summarized pretty much everything except for three components of the appetizer sampler: the eggplant, the Grecian Eggroll and the Spinach Pie. Everything else including the Phoenician Sampler entree I had was eminently and wholly forgettable. Maybe the stuffed grape leaves. But even the side salad was basically water and oil and a lot of white stems. A simple touch of a vinegar could have made it a passable salad, but alas, nothing. The chicken schwarma was dry and lifeless -- really the only taste was the occasional piece of roasted crust. The fried Kibbi did, though, have a distinct Levantine flavor spicing, something I was hoping to enjoy in other parts of the bland sampler. Ambiance was nice; service was prompt and polite. Quantity was good for a dinner plate; pricing was Ok but given today's run up in prices, still puts the old restaurant dinners from five years ago a distant memory. Overall, nothing to really draw me back. Maybe when I forget this episode in six months and I want a taste of the Levant, I'll try again. read more

A nice dinner with the family. Food was fresh and feta salad was light with a nice olive oil vinaigrette. The menu had plenty options which is great if everyone wants a little something different. We shared the Phoenicia sampler. I also had a cup of the lentil soup which was very flavorful--I really enjoyed that. The service was great. The restaurant was very clean. I had the Chicken Sharma. The chicken was cut in chunks, not sliced, and very dry. The rice pilaf was basically a scoop of white rice with a couple green peas in it; tasteless!
