So its a new Indian restaurant in Henley in the place of the one that has just shut down…read more Its been about 20 years since I remember going to my first Indian eatery and has much really changed on the british high street. I know the big city restaurants in London, Manchester etc have all moved into this east meets west phase. But can the lonely high street location change. Lets see. Well firstly the staff seem new well nearly all of them there is one familliar face. The outside decor has changed but inside a lick of paint does not hide the previous business. The bar is the same with the same drinks but I can honestly say that the menu has changed quite dramatically, we have Indian and Thai as the main focus with even a page for some Chinese traditional dishes!!! Poppadoms are always agood start but its the usual four different dips the spice one, the sweet one, the really strong bitter one and the cut up bits of onion one. It's all much of a muchness really. Decided to stick with the Indian theme with a few tradional main dishes. Nice chicken cuts and well made sauces, our other dish was lamb based and again a resonable standard of meat and good sauce. Don't get me wrong this food is OK but they have three very nearby Indian restaurants to compete with and this will not keep them in business. For opening night there can aways be a few teething problems but the place ran well, the staff were polite and eager to please. They need to seperate themselves from the previous business The Blue Sea as quickly as possible and that means serving different chocolates at the end of the meal and different hot flannels (why is that still happening?). I would ask anyone in the area to support local business and these guys deserve a chance to succeed.

Shocking!!!!!!!!…read more The woeful Cafe le Raj are in the process of assimilating all the Indian Restaurants in Henley, and this is their first one. As per le Raj, the delivery service was over an hour late and the order wrong. It was only after threatening to cancel the cheque that the correct food arrived. We would never have ordered from here if we'd know the Blue Sea had been taken over - as the food is bland, chewy and, quite frankly, SHOCKING! Update : just bumped into the waiter in the loo having a slash. He didn't wash his hands and went out to serve. Your choice.

Genuinely the best Indian food I've ever had in my life. We just ordered a bunch of stuff, from…read moresamosas and butter chicken to kabab and broccoli salad. Absolutely nothing we didn't love! Service was also fantastic! I noticed they're super intentional about allergies and brought out an entire tablet for my friend to cross-reference with the menu.

I'm probably going to get some hate for this but I only thought our meal was ok…read more Which bummed me out because I've been dying to try this place for years! We started with some yummy cocktails and the okra fries which were delicious - if only okra always tasted this good. For mains, we shared the chicken tikka, black daal, paneer and garlic naan. Pretty standard Indian order. The chicken tikka was just too spicy and we weren't used to that so it went mainly eaten. My favorite was the black daal but again, it wasn't so amazing that I would go and have it again. Honestly the best dish we had was dessert - the basmati kheer is a perfect rice pudding with crème brûlée like topping. So good. Service was spotty, I constantly found myself trying to find our server or make eye contact with him. They were slammed on a Tuesday night (which I'm sure is the case every night) so that's probably just the way things are but it could've been better. Disappointed but willing to try again, also made me want to try some other Indian spots in London next.
